it’s now on! Even the kids are complaining it’s cold… thanks for the solidarity lol

I refer you to @didntlikeanyofthesuggestions post.

Now turn it off immediately! 😡

Really want to but am resisting. We have had the aircon (does heat as well as cold) on in the bedroom for a few minutes before bed the last few nights though!

BatchCookBabe · 16/05/2026 20:32

If it's cold, and YOU are cold, then put the heating on! That's what it's for. You don't need permission from Mumsnet!

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 16/05/2026 20:32

No. I forbid it.

PennySweeet · 16/05/2026 20:31

YANBU

But you've absolutely done the right thing by asking Mumsnet first.

Imagine just walking up to the boiler and switching the heating on without running it by complete strangers first.

<< Shudders at the thought >>

It's been cold here the last few nights actually 🥶

Not at all unreasonable. Mine was off for parts of April, and on low twice a day, otherwise. I bumped it up the others evening, the house was cold!

Chocolateteapot8 · 16/05/2026 20:31

Mines on too!!

JaneLupin · 16/05/2026 20:30

It’s been really cold where I live this week. We’ve had the heating on.

Wingedharpy · 16/05/2026 20:30

You have my permission! - mine's on, lovely.
