What size are you if you’re 5’8” and 10 and a half stone?

Posting here for traffic. If you’re 5’8” and around 10st 8lbs what size are you? And what’s your BMI? My bmi is 22 and I’m between a 10 and a 12 but I think I must have a large frame or something cos I thought I’d be an 8-10 at this weight/this bmi

5ft7 and 10st6, i'm an 8-10 especially with clothes sizing getting bigger.

I have a small frame and must be very dense as people are always surprised by how much I weigh. I do carry my weight in my legs not my torso which gives the illusion of being slimmer, even though I could lose a stone and still be a healthy weight.

My sister is similar weight and height but more of an apple shape and wears 10-12.

I’m not sure what category my body shape fits into..I’ve always described myself as a rectangle 🤣 don’t have many curves and narrow hips, average size boobs. I have skinny arms and when I put weight on I carry it all around my middle - giant belly and love handles. Basically more like a middle-aged man shape! I was always skinny and lanky as a kid but have been a size 14 for most of my adult life (and between 12 & 13st). I’ve only recently lost weight. I do a lot of exercise so I’m more solidly built and stronger looking now (although I wouldn’t say muscular- that’s the goal but it’s very hard to get muscular as a woman I’m finding). Since I lost weight people keep saying, “you’ll never be a 10 because you’re tall, so your body’s not built that way”. I think that’s bollocks though, what about all the 6ft size zero supermodels?!

I’m surprised you’re a 14. I’m 5”7, 12.5 stone and a size 14.
At the lower end of 11 stone I’m a size 10!

5’9.5” (the .5 is important 🤣) and 10 stone 7 and I’m a size 12. I have a tiny waist but all my weight is on my butt and I have broad shoulders. I got down to under 10 stone and I was still a size 12. I also went up to 12 stone 4 on lockdown and my size 12 clothes still fit but were quite tight!

I’m a size 10-12 at that weight, mostly a 12. At 10 stone I’m a solid size 10.

I once bought a 'size 0' and a 'size L' - both dresses - on the same day. (was in America so not sure what a zero is in the uk.. maybe a 6)

I am 5’ 8” and weigh 10st 12lbs and I am a size 12 in most clothing. Even when I go down to 10st 4lb I am still a size 10 - 12.

An average build person of 5’ 8” would have a frame that would fit a size 10-12 even if not carrying much weight. There will be people with very slight frames fitting a size 8 - 10, but I think they’d weigh a lot less than 10st.

A BMI of 22 is perfectly healthy.

Clothes shops vary so much but I’d be a 10-12 on top and a 12-14 on bottom depending how generous the sizing is.

I’m now half a stone lighter than this and wouldn’t say I’m definitely in the size down but some things are looser than I’d like them to be.

When I was that weight I was a 12-14. I am also 5'8".

So I think you are doing alright if you are a 10-12!

Certainly is. I'm the same height and size as you @romanholidays but weigh 12 stone. I was a size 20-22 at 13 stone 7.

I'm pretty much exactly the same as you OP, and I'm a size 10 in tops but a 12-14 in bottoms as I have very wide hips!

An inch shorter but same weight. Size 10 bottom and size 10/12 top 32ff boobs. I’ve always been an hour glass but my waist is thicker as I’ve got older.

I’m a size 12 top and bottom but I’m quite muscular.

I'm the same height and weight and a size 10. I am quite small boned though, narrowish hips, small ankles and wrists. I am actually carrying a fair bit of fat, despite my BMI. I am much better at around 61/62kgs (approx 135lbs) but I haven't got sound to losing weight post kids.

A 5' 8" 10.5 stone apple with a 32" waist would need a size 14 in a garment with a fitted waist.
A 5' 8" 10.5 stone hourglass with a 26" waist would need a size 10 in a garment with a fitted waist.
Apply similar variables for different body shapes and different clothing cuts and you will see that clothes size is very inconsistent amongst women of the same height and weight.

I did 9 and a half stone once upon a time and was size 10 then .

At 10 stone 7 not going near a size 8 in anything

I agree with what @MiddleAgedDread said. Years ago I was working with my friend in clothes shop- we were in exact same sizing, the same height but she was nearly 2 stone heavier.

I’m a 10/12 on top, small chest, 12 on bottom (down from a 14) due to wide hips.
