To want stability in this country and to be fed up of all the witch hunts

So sick of the media and now everyone else constantly wanting political unrest.

Really since David Cameron its been a trend. Let's find dirt and oust the PM. They dont care what party it is, they just like gossip and resignation and arent happy until they get it. Then they start all over again....

I'm not saying i care about any particular one staying in power, i just want stability and honestly why would the good MPs want that job when theyve seen whay happens to you.

Listening to the radio and thinking why does that self interested prick Andy Burnham want my mortgage rates up AGAIN. I become eligible to remortgage this month. I'm a newly single parent with small children, one with disabling autism. Ambition just smells like uncertainty to me now, and that is exactly what the economy doesn't need.

'Timetable for his departure' my arse. Labour are putting themselves in the bin and the country in the hands of reform, deliberately, selfishly and knowingly.

FFS, fucking about already.

BeardySchnauzer · 12/05/2026 08:21

Yep. Instead of discussing how to fix the mess we are in they are going to spend months infighting and then we’ll end up with a new PM who has no clue either

FulsomSparrow · 12/05/2026 08:16

I'm rightwing and completely agree.

Starmer should stay put until the next election. There are no worthy replacement options.

It was ruinous for the country when the Tory party were playing musical chairs with PM's too.

FlyingApple · 12/05/2026 08:14

We are going to have this until the main issues in society are actually dealt with.

BeardySchnauzer · 12/05/2026 08:12

I don’t think the Labour party realise that changing the PM is not going to make them much more popular

this idea that Andy burnham is our saviour is just bizarre.

Holding people to account is not ‘witch hunting’. The media is reporting what has happened, not making shit up.

We had the 2008/9 financial crash when Cameron was pm, then Brexit which caused mayhem, then Covid -it was events, dear boy, events -as much as anything -we now have Trump and wars
but the country deeeeesperately needs changes -and not ones to increase minimum pay and benefits (which Rayner) wants -so if she gets in it will be more changes

Cameron wasn’t PM in 2008/9. It was Gordon Brown. Cameron took over in 2010.

Maxtheminx · 12/05/2026 08:00

Generally I would agree but KS is a genuinely incredibly unpopular PM. He constantly changes his position, tries to support two sides at once and pisses both sides off.

no one know what he stands for or believes. And by extension they don’t know what the Labour Party stands for either.

The Labour’s party has bigger problems than
just KS. It’s a party that has abandoned its reason for existing ( the working class) and failed to find a new one ( Blair managed this but no one since has). But the undefineable blancmage that KS is does embody all their problems.

FinchiePink · 12/05/2026 07:59

For the first twenty years of my life we had four PMs.

In the last four years we've had four.

It doesn't matter what your political persuasion is, we can't keep changing PMs at an effective rate of one a year.

That is what will crash our economy and make us a laughing stock on the world stage.

Snorerephron · 12/05/2026 07:57

Labour are so stupid to want to oust someone who's been prime minister for less than 2 years as the next cry from the right wing press when a new leader steps in is "he/she hasn't a mandate and should call a GE"

Exactly this. The Labour MPs baying for husband resignation are being spectacularly naive

Ride it out and give him a chance

Myoldbear · 12/05/2026 07:53

Kingdomofsleep · 12/05/2026 07:11

They've been the opposite of slow and steady. It's been rushed-out policies followed by hurried U-turns. Take the winter fuel allowance for example.

@Kingdomofsleep Well I asked AI ( yes, I know, but it's broadly correct I think.)

' Has the pace of change under labour been fast?'

The answer was that some people think it has been too slow and that is the main reason for discontent now. So apparently not 'rushed' and 'hurried' as you feel describes this government.

Therefore I repeat the assertion that people are fuelled by excitement and febrile activity compared to the slow, considered 'boring' maturity that Starmer generally displays and which is essential for the stability of our country.

Gordon Brown was PM during the 2008 financial crash, not David Cameron.

Snorerephron · 12/05/2026 07:51

Agree. Give the man enough time to get the job done

It's mob politics and I am really disappointed in the labour MPs calling for his resignation

My friend, no one has more contempt for our population than the twin grifters on the far right and the far left. They're both offering their own version of a fairy tale, only the Reform lot's version has fewer brown people than the Green's version.

Don’t disagree - but they’ve tapped into the way the main parties make them feel and are exploiting that

twinklystar23 · 12/05/2026 07:48

The constant daily drip of negativity from the press is something else, Starmer has been targeted from the start, or before.

Labour are so stupid to want to oust someone who's been prime minister for less than 2 years as the next cry from the right wing press when a new leader steps in is "he/she hasn't a mandate and should call a GE"

I feel so concerned about the direction the country is heading, if I had dual citizenship, which I don't I would seriously consider leaving if Farage became PM. Honestly have people learned nothing from history (ww2) and how grifters like NF rise to power when people become poorer and disillusioned with the state of their country.

SquirrelSoShiny · 12/05/2026 07:41

BeardySchnauzer · 12/05/2026 07:35

Having contempt for the electorate is exactly why the two main parties find themselves in this position

Just wait till Rayner gets in power, she’ll last like Liz Truss and be out within a few weeks.

Nah, Liz Truss was an intellectual giant, comparatively.

And to be fair, Liz Truss had the right diagnosis that supply side reforms would fix the economy. But she went about it the wrong way.

Rayner, on the other hand, reportedly got blind drunk in the House of Commons last week, crashed into a door and damaged parliament property.

Sally2791 · 12/05/2026 07:40

I agree. Ridiculous to expect things turned around so quickly. Those who want him/labour out will be disappointed that deform will make life far far worse for the average person

SquirrelSoShiny · 12/05/2026 07:38

Myoldbear · 12/05/2026 07:03

Yes, how Starmer has been treated is a symptom of our society today.

No one can stand slow and steady, when that is nearly always what works best.

Only frantic, frenetic and exciting action will do. It will be disastrous not to keep the PM.

Yes it will indeed be a disaster. Not just here, where we have a decent human being as a prime minister but across the world.

Russia has been linked to Trump and Farage repeatedly. Starmer has been very strong on the international stage defending Ukraine's sovereignty. Who stands to gain most from the loss of Starmer? Vlad is laughing at our dull-witted population and our 'free' media spunking that freedom up the wall.

cloudtreecarpet · 12/05/2026 07:00

Exactly this. I've said it before on other threads - Farage & Reform are wolves in sheep's clothing who are exploiting ordinary people's unhappiness for their own ends. Farage is supported by billionaires who want him in for the inevitable tax cuts and policies favouring the rich that he will bring in. He doesn't give a monkeys about ordinary working people but it seems we will have to live out this nightmare until it's actually believed.

Agreed. Hence my growing contempt for our electorate. They can't join the dots, they lack the imagination to understand how much worse things can get. Then when it all happens exactly as predicted, we will get our own version of the 'Leopards won't eat MY face memes'. And then when they realise their faces have now been ripped off, by a racist grifter with rich mates, they will point the finger at ANYONE rather than look in the mirror and say, 'I did this. I voted for the leopards who ripped my face off. This was my choice.'

BeardySchnauzer · 12/05/2026 07:29

Blaming the governments of the last 30 years ignores the economic reality of the world we are in - the west is in decline and we need a government who recognises that rather than promising a golden future.

Cheesipuff · 12/05/2026 07:28

They need a strong leader who tells the backbenchers they must tow the line - the incoming prospective leaders aren’t impressive

Theeyeballsinthesky · 12/05/2026 07:23

agree OP, the media are absolutely insane on this. They just endlessly feed the drama because it keeps their wheels turning.

as for the Labour MPs, I'm genuinely head in hands that they watched the shit show of the previous governments infighting, briefings and counter briefings and merry go round of prime ministers and thought "yes that's exactly what we should be emulating" 🤦🏻‍♀️
