The Left have a become a snivelling self-righteous mob, busy bodying around, trying to shame others

I read this quote and it encapsulates exactly how I feel

'I never thought I'd see the day when the Right became the cool ones giving the finger to the establishment, and the Left became the snivelling self-righteous ones going around shaming everybody'

AIBU to think this is what many people think these days? We didn't leave the left, the left left us.

*the quote is from John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten. He's deliberately provocative in lots of ways, but he meant this one. I fully expect some people to come on the thread to tell us all how he's a horror and said he likes Donald Trump. That would be them missing the point.. but.. Let Them..

I'm unconvinced. She's not as smart as she thinks she is, and sees everything in black and white. The world's not that simple, and if she ever becomes PM, she won't cope with the nuances of reality.

She also blatantly doesn't understand people. She has all Thatcher's bad points but none of the good ones.

And that's leaving left v right to one side for the moment.

I think this is actually the thinking behind govts who have enabled mass immigration, from Blair onwards: import the next generations of voters.

Trouble is you get a reaction, which we are seeing now in the success of Reform and the loss of votes for Labour. Ironically even Tony Blair has come out and said we need to get a grip on our borders.

I thought they were trying to head off the problems caused by an ageing population/falling birthrate. An issue that still hasn't been adequately dealt with and the cause of a lot of the problems councils are having as adult social care costs spiral.

I've never seen him speak before I tend to read the news not watch it. But watching him this morning gave me the heebee jeebies. He is not a good man.

Also left and GC. So sick of hearing 'at least he knows what a woman is' to justify support for every misogynist and his dog and their harmful regressive policies. There's not a misogynist, rapist or femicidal lunatic out there who doesn't 'know what a woman is' so it's hardly a recommendation.

They may be working part time, but a lot of those people will be women and disabled people, and there are many reasons why people work part time. Young children with no support with the cost of childcare being so high, ill health meaning the only way they can contribute to society is through party time work etc.

Also there aren't enough jobs for everyone to be employed, let alone for them to all work full time so regardless of whether it's any particular individuals choice, the option isn't there for many.

(I'm not quite full time - 30hrs -, on a bit more than minimum wage. This was the only job I could get, and that was through knowing people rather than applying. The job market is a nightmare atm, five months of looking in the run up to redundancy got me nothing. No UC because my savings are too high due to redundancy payment.)

What the hell has happened to Mumsnet? From being an intelligent, independent, interesting place full of a range of views it’s become a repository for those wishing to spill out bile on a daily basis with no critical thought or analysis and based on name calling of people in public life.

I just don’t believe it’s not an organised, coordinated campaign and it makes me very sad. I didn’t use to agree with all the threads in the past but now I’m seeing the platform as a dangerous propagator for extreme views. I didn’t ever think a site developed to support and inform parents could become a propagandist’s dream.

I agree, I remember arguing the same point about Nick Griffin when he appeared on Question Time. Everyone was up in arms and I argued for free speech and let them stand up to some scrutiny/shine a light on to their actual views. He was utterly embarrassing and pretty much shrunk from the limelight after that.

I am left, I am also GC, I don't think the two are mutually exclusive and I don't think people should take this one issue and be radicalised into thinking that the right will offer some safe haven for women. The right do not care about women and girls.
