Starmergeddon - Restore and Reform reflect the mainstream, crushing humiliaton for Labour

Aplogies for the typo in the title. If you think this makes me look stupid, you are proving that you are a bigoted bully, flailing around in desperation. It's just a typo, entirely down to a slightly sub par keyboard.

Restore took all ten council seats. Anywhere it stood, it won. Many Reform voters have indicated they'd have voted Restore but since they were unavailable they voted Reform as next best. Starmer still refusing to leave, in line totalitarian dictators of old, Starmer's response being, basically "People didn't vote for us because we didn't do all the things they didn't want and didn't vote for even faster".

Farage's Reform UK Party currently standing at 1237 Seats - having won 1235 seats. Starmer's Labour Party has lost 1,108 Seats and retains only 801. And literally 10/10 for Restore :)

So the question is - do the excessively far left radicals (who are highly active on mumsnet but have never represented the majority in real life) still believe that repeatedly using the slur of racist and calling the majority of British people stupid for having absolutely standard uncontroversial reviews, was the right thing to do? Will you continue to use that failed tactic in an attempt to silence your opponents?

Further to that, are you aware that calling me racist, stupid and the others slurs you are itching to type is an obvious and ignorant own goal and only proves the point I am making?

Or do you find shouting slurs at the majority of UK citizens cathartic, so you will still attempt to use these slurs, despite them no longer having any meaning or power?

YABU

Or have you finally understood that the majority of the UK are standard, average people hold uncontroversial views and that they have perfectly valid reasons to vote Reform and Restore? Are you able to understand that people you have been trying to silence with the slurs of Nazi, racist and "far right" are in fact perfectly centrist, commonplace and average voters? Can you learn from your mistakes moving forward?

YANBU

To assist you with critical thinking, here's a quick recap of Starmer's failures:

Pursued a hard line, far left globalist agenda at the expense of UK citizens, against their wishes.
Raised the minimum wage and National Insurance contributions, leading to thousands of job losses and businesses folding.
Continuing to pursue the politics of envy, introduced VAT to private school fees leading to many excellent seats of learning closing their doors.
Removed winter fuel payments to pensioners, despite his own party claiming a couple of years earlier that this would result in pensioner deaths.
Consistently refused to answer questions during the session in the parliamentary week set aside for this specific purpose.
Unilaterally gave away billions of pounds of taxpayers money with no accountability required from the recipient.
Failed to control mass immigration, both legal and illegal.
Introduced legislation that will destroy the private rental market and create hundreds of thousands of homeless families.
Promised to build 1.5 million homes in five years despite everyone telling him it would be impossible.
Failed to address muslim rape gangs.
Increased welfare payments to a point where benefits now cost more than the entire income tax take.
Allowed weekly pro-Palestinian hate marches on UK streets.
Completly ignored the massive rise of anti semitism, attempted to gaslight the UK on the subject.
Consistently referred to people with concerns about the proliferation of migrant violence as "Far Right".
Promoted a friend to high office while knowing he was chums with one of the most prolific paedophiles on the planet.
Consistently worked to reverse the result of the biggest democratic vote in British history by stealth.
Placed tax dodgers, fraudsters and CV fantasists in Ministerial posts.
Invited a known islamist terrorist to No.10 while simultaneously banning foreign commentators from the UK for merely reporting on the border fiasco.
Took two weeks to find a Royal Navy ship that actually worked.
Failed to help motorists and hauliers after the rise in the price of fuel caused by the war in Iran.
Continues to allow Ed Milliband to wreck the UK's energy industry with his unworkable and deeply unpopular Net Zero policies.
Consistently failed to accept responsibility for any wrong doing.
Alienated "working people" while claiming to be on their side.

Well, Britain is going to bed refreshed and energised, a new day has dawned, the British are delighted to see the first step taken towards celebrating and reinstating the British way of life (insert obvious and boring comment from radical far leftist as British people are not allowed to have the same rights as other countries to enjoy and be enthusiastic about, or celebrate their thousands of years of heritage).

Well done Reform, you'll do for now until Restore has the time to swoop in and win across the board :)

And well done Restore, an amazing start - figuratively and literally ten out of ten :)

What a huge relief 😍

I don't think it was suggesting that women over 51 can't vote (or men of any age), it was just demonstrating how women between 18 to 50 vote. And they are also the same demographic as many mumsnetters.

According to Ai it is 25-44 yrs. 18-50 just seems to be an obscure group to select.

Tableforjoan · 09/05/2026 09:32

Now I did not vote reform.

However lower levels of education meaning more likely to vote reform would explain more of the hatred towards immigration on the basis of the jobs the lower paid immigrants take are the very same jobs that are open to them. Also living in economically lower paid areas. Putting pressure on housing and such.

So to them it would make perfect sense because what they see to them is these people coming over and taking their jobs and pushing them out.

If you’re a nice high earner with a uni degree living in a leafy suburb those problems are unlikely to be impacting on your life or feel like they are.

So I can see why it makes sense to them.

Doesn’t mean reform will fix it but I guess it feels like the only option they have that might do something to help them.

Are you speaking from experience, that you have a low level of education, are unemployed on benefits (that reform want to scrap) and have a hatred of foreign people stealing your job?

Or, are you parroting this line, claiming to speak for a percentage of people when what you say is actually made up rubbish?

The foreigners that are simultaneously getting all the benefits and living in fancy hotels whilst not working, and stealing all the jobs.

Education is definitely the way forward.

Oh, I avoided bullet points so nobody would pretend they thought this was Chat GPT, just by the way :)

But it's an easily accessible post, easy to read with a simple list, so hopefully not too much for most of you.

If you find my post difficult to comprehend, please do get off the screens and read more books, that will help with concentration and critical thinking.

And I do apologise for this rather cheap keyboard, will replace asap as it's not helpful to have occasional typos, especially given how desperate some of you are to pretend you the average Reform/Restore voter is stupid 😂

Edited

Is that you Nige? The lack of self awareness kinda reminds me of all those times you were insulting all those MEPs to their faces. It's mighty ranty and self-righteous for someone with a Party that is only "halfway ready" to lead.

What was your backing music whist you were typing? Go by the Chemical Brothers? I can almost hear you shriek mid way through.

Where I live in a major city, all the white working class areas with very few immigrants have voted for Reform, while the more diverse, multi-ethnic areas have voted Green and Independent.

My ward has gone to Reform. There are lots of elderly white people where I live who don't look in the best of health and Nigel Farage's proposal to get rid of the NHS and move to an insurance model if he wins a General Election would have a massive negative impact on their lives. But getting rid of foreigners is more important apparently.

What a huge relief 😍

I'm not sure who you think the 'excessively far left radicals' are??? Most normal people would consider referring to Sunak as an 'effing P*' to be a racial slur - Reform UK canvasser.

In terms of whether we, as a democratic nation who've respected the rule of law since 1215, will be 'powerless' in the face of this Trump inspired onslaught, unlikely. There's no provision whatsoever in our 'constitution' for executive orders and so the Equalities Act and a multitude of other laws will stand. Somewhat famously, we also have the separation of powers that keeps government entirely apart from our courts (again, this stretches back to medieval times) and so there won't be any crony appointments to the benches. For the 'patriotic' Reform party to change this, they would literally have to destroy nearly 1,000 years of English history. As someone who loves my country, I would oppose allowing people to do this. I believe the vast majority of British people, who value our distinct culture, would stand with me.

So to take some of your points:

Pretty sure the average worker doesn't want to see the minimum wage scrapped and zero hour contracts reintroduced. Maybe a bunch of people over the age of 55 don't care so much.

The introduction of VAT on school fees hasn't led to 'many excellent seats of learning closing their doors'. There's no evidence for this. Sure, several schools who were already struggling, and a contributory factor to this has been the massive rise in utilities (and of course the cost of living crisis has impacted the fee paying parents as well), did close but it wasn't due to this single factor. Very disturbing that people want to dumb down their analysis as if the British public can be spoken to like simpletons who can't understand that more than one thing can be true at the same time.

The winter fuel payments haven't been removed, it's just that they're now means tested for those with an income of over £35,000. Are people with more than £35,000 likely to be freezing to death? Sounds like you're making this up.

Didn't answer questions in parliament, have away £millions ... This is so vague as to be meaningless. Are you talking about Johnson refusing to come to parliament and the PPE scandal?

Failed to control mass immigration: it's gone down under Starmer. This isn't an opinion, it's a fact based on evidence. It actually went up under the Tories, some of whom are now in Reform. In other words, a vote for Reform is a vote to allow uncontrolled mass immigration.

The renters rights legislation won't destroy the private rental market. Good landlords won't be affected. Again, you make another claim with absolutely no evidence. If the private rental market was about to collapse, for the past year we'd have seen a housing crash as a glut of properties appeared for sale. This isn't what's happened.

Every government in the past few decades has promised to build new homes and failed to live up to that promise. Are Reform promising to build new homes? What's their exact policy announcement on this?

Failed to address Muslim rape gangs: what are you on about? Starmer is literally the only PM to address this with the Statutory Independent Inquiry into Grooming Gangs launched last month (April 2026). The real issue here is why people who were sitting in the Tory government from 2010, and who have since defected to Reform, did absolutely nothing. I'm other words, if you don't want any action taken on grooming gangs, vote Reform.

Benefits: Ah yes, the strivers and skivers argument. Probably needs a separate thread.

Actually, didn't allow Palestinian marches, moved to stop them resulting in 1,000s of arrests, is married to a Jew and bringing up his children as Jewish. Not sure how you can possibly claim he's anti Semitic.

Not sure about the Epstein thing. Trump is also up to his neck in it. The reason Mandelson was chosen was because he would get on with Trump, like Farage does, they're really good mates.

In terms of reversing BREXIT, he hasn't though has he? Despite a massive parliamentary majority, he's respected the will of the people. It's just another one of your dog whistles.

Placed tax dodgers, fraudsters and CV fantasists in Ministerial posts: very vague, are you talking about Johnson again and the bevvy of Tories who've now joined Reform?

Took two weeks to find a Royal Navy ship that actually worked: an issue he inherited from the people now in Reform who ran the MOD for 14 years.

Failed to help motorists and hauliers after the rise in the price of fuel caused by the war in Iran: caused by Trump. Let's be clear. Issues that we now have are because of Trump's policies. Farage loves Trump. He respects those policies.

Green energy isn't what's wrecking our economy. The financial crash of 2008 did that. I believe Farage was a trader at this time. Poor Reform voters don't even realise that they're literally electing the people responsible for this whole mess. Of course they're blaming green energy because they don't want people to find out it was them really. For example, Yusuf was right in the thick of it. He worked at both Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs before the crash.

Alienated "working people" while claiming to be on their side: presumably, these are the same working people who want to live in unregulated rentals and forgo the protection of a minimum / liveable wage? Median UK household income is about £37k.

I’ve not said who I support.

Your anti Green rhetoric is telling, however you have a shed load of anti feminist Reform bile to defend. So crack on.

Reporting the Greens ridiculous policies and anti women stance is not ‘anti-Green rhetoric’.

They proudly deny the existence of women as a sex distinct from men and seek to deny women our sex based rights (plus a load of other policies that are hurting women), they can’t get any more anti women than that but you need to accept that they are responsible for their views.

shed load of anti feminist Reform bile

Do you have any Reform policies or direct quotes that reflect your rather sweeping claim against them? Interestingly no one else with your views has been able to produce anything of substance. Maybe you can?

You jumped the shark with this:

Pursued a hard line, far left globalist agenda at the expense of UK citizens, against their wishes.

If Keir Starmer had moved to the left, particularly on Israel/Palestine, he wouldn't have lost so many voters to the Greens and Independent candidates.

Your suggestion that the 'never Reform' and 'never Restore' voters need to read more is an absolute joke. A poll on voting by education level says 42% of people whose top qualification is GCSE or lower would vote Reform. Only 13% of people educated to degree level would back Reform.

Maybe you can tell us about the successful things that Reform/Restore councillors have achieved in office rather than just spewing out insults in all directions.

Honestly, if you are a person with any chance of losing your job, a carer, a member of any group which currently has protected characteristics, have the future misfortune to become very sick or disabled etc, this party are not going to support you. If you ever need to claim benefits you'll become one of the people on the receiving end of the 'scrounger' rhetoric unless you can self fund a decent standard of living through the bad times, as long as they last. And there aren't actually many of us that could do that.
Obviously for now they are only able to influence decisions at a local level. But, I hope people will think a lot more about the potential for disaster in their own lives if this lot were elected to government.

I’m not rich or elite. I’m of a working class background. I fundamentally disagree with them and all they stand for.

As a woman, a working mother and someone with an ‘immigrant’ parent, what could these people do for me and my family? Let alone the country.

They do a good job of pretending to be ‘just like you’. They do a good job of weaponising people’s anger at the hardships they face and that their local services have been consistently underfunded and mismanaged. They also lean into the fact that people just don’t like certain groups of people. And all while pointing a few vulnerable people on a boat as if they’re the ones to blame, no one will question what they’re getting out of it. I don’t believe it’s you or me who will benefit from them holding any sort of power. They’re telling us how they’re willing to treat people, if they did manage to do anything about immigration there’ll be another group in firing line next.

I have honestly never heard of a political party called Restore??

You are entitled to your opinion, and I am not going to say you are thick, but I do believe they are making a monkey out of you.

What have they actually done so far to make you any better off apart from criticise and blame others for the state of the country. They have succeded very well at lining their own pockets. Actually being in power is harder than being an armchair pundit.
.
What they think they could do, if voted in at a general election, has not been tested. And what you think they could do, does not mean that much to me, in the face of the evidence so far.

Locally they have not reduced council tax bills as they said they would or even shown up, in many cases, to represent thei voters at council meetings.

Have a look at Warwickshire. Reform have given them lots of.....flags....
