AIBU to find my husband's constant undressing at home annoying?

My husband has asked me to post on here to guage opinions.
The minute he gets in the door he takes his top off, often- his trousers too and will just be wearing pants. He says it is more comfortable.

I'm starting to find it really annoying, once in a while if it's really hot it makes sense. But it is literally all summer and winter. It means he can't ever answer the door, just pop into the garden or grab something from the car. And to be honest, I just don't like it.

Apparently it is completely normal (his dad did it too) and he thinks I would be surprised because everyone does this in their own homes??

He better not have EVER done this when your kids had friends over @saamantha19881

My god if my child told me her friend’s father had behaved like this whilst she was there…. I’d have been…. Let’s just say disturbed.

Neurospicy household - this is normal for us, and for many more homes with neurodiverse people! The fact he thinks it’s normal is like “ding ding we have another member” in my head.

any chance he is adhd or asd? cos yeah, that is normal for us!

I grew up in a neurospicy household and people wore proper clothes.

A man refusing to ever leave his bedroom without a top on sounds a hell of a lot weirder to me than a man who'll happily wander about in his pants.

OP, assuming he's not wearing pants when you have guests, and your kids aren't old enough to be embarrassed by it, I really can't see why anyone would be bothered or annoyed by seeing their own partner's body. I find it really odd that some people are saying 'He shouldn't be doing something that you don't like' as if people have the right to control what their partner does in his/her own home, even though it's completely harmless, just because you have an arbitrary preference against it.

I was doing a dumbbell workout in the living room in my very un-glamorous undies yesterday. Fortunately my DP didn't seem to be mortally offended by that, although it certainly couldn't have been pleasant to look at.

He doesn't refuse ever to leave the room without* a top on, he chooses *to throw on a tshirt while walking around in from of others. We have an ensuite so he doesn't really need to be walking around the house not fully dressed.

a pair of thin football shorts. problem solved. you cannot be too hot in those surely. pick a size that’ll be loose ish around the waist.

I hate it when men’s unacceptable behaviour is immediately put down to neurodiversity!

It's not just men It's seems to be a reason for anyone's unreasonable behaviour to get a suggestion of ND on here

It's unpleasant that he walks around in just underwear all the time. Wanting to get out of a suit/work clothes is understandable but surely a t-shirt and shorts would be better?

I quite agree.

The guy I knew who would sit on the floor in underpants every evening and all weekend used to have part of one ball hanging out. He was disgusting.

I just have a throw or a blanket on the sofa and wash it regularly. Problem solved.

It’s not a difficult problem is it, but n this example still appears to be an extra domestic chore, caused by a man, done by a woman. Sigh.

But how are pants and shorts different? 😂They cover his arse, his penis and his balls... surely that's all that matters??

My husband's pants are like a jock strap with an arse section. I wouldn't want him to just wear them

Peoplearebloodyidiots · 09/05/2026 04:41

So many prim and uptight people on here.
