To ask if you had terrible embarrassing lip filler swelling

How long it took to go down to normal again?

I have the most embarrassing bruises and puffiness ever and also an appointment with my psychiatrist on Monday (these two things are not related I just don't want him to think I'm madder than usual)

If you are my psychiatrist and it hasn't died down by Monday I guess this is pretty outing

@Allseeingallknowing I'll post one AFTER I actually have them done

@DoughnutDreamer Thank you - I wish it looked like that now!

iamfedupwiththis · 12/05/2026 11:43

They don't look it - sorry - but they look like they have had filler.

Yes there’s a ridge. Where’s the after photo?

DoughnutDreamer · 12/05/2026 19:43

CollectingAllTheACEs · 11/05/2026 20:51

What about mine....?

I have a natural ridge above my top lip as well (but definitely not had lip filler) and a few people have asked me recently if I’ve had them filled. Anyway, that aside, your skin looks amazing in that photo.

ok so you think in 2 years the menopause has decimated your full lips, despite still being only 39 @CollectingAllTheACEs ? I very much doubt that

Despite being 'only 39' I had to have a surgical hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis and have seriously been suffering in terms of the impact on my body, skin, etc. Not that it's any of your fucking business

Off the point slightly, but I’ve never had any lip filler, but have been asked if I’ve had my lips ‘done’ by supposedly eagle-eyed folk on more than one occasion and even accused of lying about it by one rather rude person! I have a slightly shelf-like upper lip naturally and full bottom lips.

Maybe we all need to stop analysing each others faces so much 🤣

You mean exactly like what is happening on this thread to me? 😂And even AI is in on the act apparently....

Is this not selection bias: the ones that are overdone are really noticeable so you know that they’ve had it, but you probably don’t realise how many people you walk past every day who have it done and you don’t notice. I have a tiny bit in my top lip. None in my bottom. My top lip is very thin naturally. I really don’t think this looks obvious!

You can literally see the bump in this. As soon as you spoke I'd know because lip reading you would be really hard.

DoubleShotEspressox · 12/05/2026 17:04

😂😂

CollectingAllTheACEs · 12/05/2026 16:50

@Smoothquark it's from two years ago before menopause robbed me of full lips - booked in next month to get just 0.3ml filler to start with. But it's proof that you can't always tell and that some people have a natural ridge above their lips

@DoubleShotEspressox Thank you - it's the insistence they can tell that I find mad... the reason you can't tell when it's done well is because - it's done well!

DoubleShotEspressox · 12/05/2026 13:42

@CollectingAllTheACEs It’s a well known fact that everyone on Mumsnet despises lip fillers. And they are ALL EXPERTS on how shit it looks. Which is incredible given that only a tiny proportion, if any, will be practitioners.

PS your lips are lovely (before) and I’m sure after too

Smoothquark · 12/05/2026 13:29

CollectingAllTheACEs · 12/05/2026 11:38

Hahahaha I was waiting for this one - this is actually the before picture - my lips are 100% natural in that photograph

Sure

ok so this is a photograph of your lips from years ago?

CollectingAllTheACEs · 12/05/2026 11:44

@ExOptimist that was a couple of years ago, menopause has completely reduced the volume now - I'm booked in to have it done but only 0.3ml to start with

@iamfedupwiththis well they haven't - I'm just pointing out that you can't always tell

So why would you want them filled if that's the case? Have you got an after picture?

CollectingAllTheACEs · 12/05/2026 11:38

iamfedupwiththis · 12/05/2026 11:01

Still obvious.

DoubleShotEspressox · 11/05/2026 09:38

There’s a lot of shit lip filler out there I agree, and you’ll notice the obvious shelf-lips or duck pouts. But done well, you don’t know. So you can’t say that ALL lip fillers are shit and look awful.

You do if you have to try and lipread them.

Just try looking for the shape and movement that indicates the difference between p, b and m.

iamfedupwiththis · 12/05/2026 11:03

Smoothquark · 12/05/2026 10:37

Why would you care if your psychiatrist noticed @CurdinHenry ?

@CurdinHenry I think your psychiatrist would be interested in knowing why your self esteem is so low that you want to do this

If you think that looks natural, then you're sadly mistaken.
