Support for the Palestinian people has fuck all to do with British elections especially local ones.

Unless of course the British elections are actually being used by certain groups of people for nefarious purposes.

Could you explain how legalising all drugs is going to take supply out of the hands of criminals?

Is a Green led government planning to buy all the drugs produced by the drug producers?

What infrastructure/state mechanisms/laws would be required to achieve that without vast amounts of collateral damage (ie deaths) on the way?

Do you feel like the Greens have a well researched and coherent policy on this or have they just continued their student politics and are saying whatever they think will appeal to ageing party kids?

Personally as someone who is a qualified drug worker and who has worked in places where people come in clean and go out with a drug habit - I don't think the UK policy on drugs as it stands is working

There are notorious crime families in Scotland who make millions out of people's misery. I'm not an ageing party kid. I'm someone who has seen the misery drugs do

No people on mn support green issues, want to stop global warming.... have you heard Dave mention a single green issue? The party has been hijacked by the left. I've never been a fan because I think they would ruin the country should they get into power, you only have to look at the damage caused to Bristol by a green council. But they lobbied well and presented a reasoned debate to save the environment....now they are basically momentum by a different name

They absolutely are still focused on green issues. They are a socialist leaning party because many environmentalists argue that socialism is the way to tackle climate change. It is so frustrating to keep seeing people going 'well they don't talk about the environment anymore', it just shows complete ignorance on the subject.

We cannot tackle the climate crisis with our current system of barely regulated capitalism. We need a system change in order to tackle the climate, which is exactly what they are doing. It's completely in line with environmentalism. There's an interesting short book on the subject, Ecosocialism by Michael Löwy.

Also anyone calling him 'Dave' just shows they're completely acting in bad faith.

Is that an implication that I'm soft on sexual violence because I support drug policy reform?

They're separate issues. Legalisation and regulation is about taking supply out of the hands of criminals and reducing harm.

If you want to talk about tackling drink spiking and sexual assault, I'm happy to, but conflating the two isn't a serious argument.

That it's at best completely bonkers?

That's putting it mildly, really.

nicepotoftea · 07/05/2026 20:09

At worst a dodgy scam designed to prey on women's insecurities.

PowerfulFireHorse · 07/05/2026 15:38

Totally agree. But sadly MN won't as the people on here love to bash the Greens 😞

Jesus. I swear some people in Mumsnet are so blinkered about trans issues that they have lost the ability for critical thinking. “He said woman can have a penis therefore he hates women!”

As a previous poster said, I believe Zack to be an ardent feminist and I trust him to stick up for women’s rights more than any other party.

I think it's his clearly expressed desire to dismantle women's rights by removing them from equality law that is causing concern.

1dayatatime · 07/05/2026 20:07

Hmm - Zack Polanski wants to nationalise key industries, wants to remove opposing views (for example questioning whether right-wing or far-right individuals should be included in society), hates capitalism, blames the problems of society and the economy on millionaires and the Jews, oh and is also a vegetarian.

Now who does he remind me of?

All he's missing is a funny little moustache....

Mind your own business.

loislovesstewie · 07/05/2026 20:03

He's not sticking up for women's rights if he's saying that men become women and can be in women's spaces. He's enabling men.

He recently had 2 women on to have a really interesting discussion on prison reform for women

Does that include keeping people with penises out of the female estate?

You think a man who told women he could make their breasts bigger by hypnosis

You don't honestly believe that happened? After he has explained what actually happened multiple times?

A newly unearthed interview from 2013 casts doubt on the Green Party leader's claim to have apologised.

GingerdeadMan · 07/05/2026 19:45

But that's your interpretation of what she said.

She literally did not say what you're saying she said, which you have handily demonstrated in that quote.

You're correct in that she's criticising it in its current form. But wanting to reform how it works does not equal saying that it shouldn't exist at all, which is what you've decided that she must have meant.

Re: maternity rights and leaving aside what KB did or didn't say, if a Green
government takes away women's protections in equality law that leaves the field much more open for a far right government to carry on the job of dismantling women's rights.

Nothing to say that it can't all be a joint effort.

Green policies are potty. We've seen what extreme politics can do (see the mess the US are in,,) and no-one wants it here.

Down with the Greens, down with reform

Yep. Both too extreme!

Same here. It's interesting to see that some of Corbyn's old pals have joined the Greens recently. Whatever happened to Your Party I wonder 🤔

Yep, Corbyn's new party with Zarah Sultana seems to have sunk without trace.

Can't imagine why! 😬
