Why is no one talking about Farage's £5 million gift/bribe?

The right wing press had kittens about Starmer receiving some free glasses, yet are shtum about Farage receiving £5 million in the twelve months prior to him becoming an MP. No one gives someone £5 million pounds. Farage is bought and paid for by a shifty, Thailand based billionaire. Why don't voters and the media care?

Interesting - I suspect nothing will come of it except, hopefully, bad publicity

coutts we’re idiots to write those emails - he’s a politically exposed person receiving large payments from an overseas source with no supposed backup to how it was earned. I’m surprised any bank would touch him

"Nigel Farage has been referred to the Financial Conduct Authority over claims his cr*ptocurrency advocacy has benefited his billionaire backer, Christopher Harbone."

Resurrecting as he’s now said it’s not the publics business what he does with the money. Asked Nick Robinson if he donates his salary to charity. I mean NR earns the money - is he saying he earnt the £5mill?

I think this looks really bad for him - not really man of the people and can’t really have a go at transparency/starmers clothes and then do this!

He's a narcissistic snowflake. As with all bullies, he can dish out out but he can never countenance any criticism. I'd ove to see him properly challenged on his policies and his donors. If our media properly challenged him regularly he'd fall apart and reveal himself to be the snivelling bigoted little man that he is.

Also how dare he. How DARE he.Angry

It's literally a few days since the tenth anniversary of the murder of Jo Cox MP, on 16 June 2016.

I remember all too well the frantic attempts by the Brexiteers to shut down any discussion of the motivations of the murderer, trying to smear this as "politicizing her death" – when the murderer himself was overt that he'd killed her for political reasons.

Farage knows all this fine well.

He also knows David Amess MP was murdered in 2021.

His attempts to claim he's "been physically more attacked over many years than any other politician” are not going down well here.

He's a despicable scumbag, and I've reached the point of thinking that anyone who supports him is too. He's a pitiful excuse for a man. How anyone can look to him and see a leader is beyond me. He represents the very worst of this country - greed, lies, bigotry, victim hood, bullying behaviour.

Gosh why should he explain?
He is just what this country needs, he is so great, so wonderful, and he is the reason that Starmer stood down!
Unfortunately there are equally deluded people in this country who will vote for him.
Heaven help us all if he ever gets into power.

i was going to say ‘I know it’s been hot today, have you considered the effects of sunstroke on thinking rationally?’

And then I read the second bit 🙈

Harborne is of course anti-immigration, so what the fuck is he doing in Thailand.I know he's not an immigrant he's an expat, as well as a loathsome pIece of shite like his mate Nige. People are billionaires because they don't waste money giving it away without getting something in return. See also Elon Musk.

He’s so corrupt it’s untrue. Went to the Bank of England Governor to pressure him on behalf of billionaire crypto tech bros. ‘Man of the people’ my backside.

Uses immigration as a way to rile people up so that he can get into power and hand us over to American hedge funds which is his real aim.

The £5m was an advance fee for the hundreds of millions he will make from crypto deregulation, dodgy government contracts to mates, handing our data to Palantir and giving the health service to US insurance companies.

He lost us 8% of GDP through Brexit, billions upon billions, now we are struggling to pay for anything, and people think he’s the answer to our problems - it explodes my brain!

Has he ever been seen in Clacton?

Do you remember when Nige wanted to open an account with Coutts bank. They initially refused but he took them to court. So since then a lot of powers that be have been scared of him so he can do what he likes.
Also he plays on the fears of the ignorant masses by saying immigrants are taking all of our jobs and houses, gay people are corrupting our children the NHS is killing older people deliberately. He knows what he is doing - evil little shit of a man.

BeardySchnauzer · 23/06/2026 18:09

He doesn’t want to say what he spent it on because it would put him in danger - so he’s not spent it on security then!!

More details here:

Farage says £5m gift spending details 'not public's business'

Pressed on whether he has spent any of the money, Farage repeated it is "none of your business" before asking presenter Sally Nugent how much of her salary had been spent on petrol and beer.

Told it was the public's business to know, Farage replied: "No, it's not the public's business."

Asked again to say how much of the £5m has been spent on security, Farage said: "No, I'm not going to answer that deliberately, wilfully.

"It's not your business at the BBC to put me in danger therefore I will not answer it."

Nugent replied "we're not putting you in any danger at all", with Farage saying: "If I answer that question you are, so I won't."

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Farage was asked if he would give the money back and replied by asking presenter Nick Robinson if he would give his salary to charity.

Asked again about whether he would give the money back, Farage said: "What on earth has that got to do with you?

He didn't help himself on Nick Ferrari's LBC show this morning either, even as Nick was trying to insert himself to his anus.

BeDandyDenimSloth · 23/06/2026 18:02

I saw him interviewed by Sally Nugent this morning and he claims the money is to be used for his security but refused to give any details. He very quickly got confrontational didn’t do himself any favours

Yes, Farage is flailing all over the place with this.

Nigel Farage: I can spend £5m gift on Ferraris or betting on horses if I want
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/jun/23/nigel-farage-5m-gift-crypto-billionaire-not-any-of-your-business
Challenged over why he initially said it was for his personal security, and then that it was a reward for Brexit, Farage said: “Because it was given as an unconditional gift, right? The understanding is, and you know very well, you know very well I’ve been physically more attacked over many years than any other politician.”
[...]
Farage said he “wasn’t in politics” in 2024 at the time of the donation, but the BBC interviewer Nick Robinson said Farage had been interviewed for 40 minutes on his podcast about a possible run for parliament. Farage said that was “a very, very difficult decision. I was far from making my mind up.”

Asked if he could return the money to Harborne should he be found to have broken parliamentary rules, Farage said: “I don’t think it’s any of your business, frankly.

InterestedDad37 · 14/05/2026 23:58

I can't stand Farage, and I'm rather left wing, politically. I also watch and listen to a lot of news. I've heard it discussed quite often in the last 24 hours.

Brontisaurus · 14/05/2026 23:56

Because Farage is a middle aged posh man.

Because most people, even those who like him, accept he’s ever so slightly dodgy and so it comes as less of a surprise.

Because Reform are the “in” thing and all the tub-thumping “patriots” don’t want to accept their Nige is up to this stuff.

The press love him and they hate Labour.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/05/2026 23:44

TopPocketFind · 14/05/2026 22:54

And why would an immigrant in Thailand be interested in Brexit? What did he get in return for £5m?

It’s quite the conundrum, isn’t it?

hobbledyhoy · 14/05/2026 23:15

It’s about time this fucking grifter was properly scrutinised with the same ferocity the media has for Labour politicians. Though considering who owns them it’s unlikely.

I’d quite like the media to report on the news rather than attempting to create it for more attention and clicks. The American import of 24/7 rolling ‘breaking’ news is doing nobody any favours.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 14/05/2026 23:12

He’s repeatedly talked about that £5m as meaning he can pay for private security for the rest of his life but seems to have immediately spent almost 1/3 of it on a new house. Perhaps it’s a fortress.

TopPocketFind · 14/05/2026 23:11

Harborne gave the Brexit Party £6 million in 2019 and was mentioned in the Panama Papers
