AIBU to think this Green Party response raises antisemitism concerns?

Reported today that Rachel Millward, the Green Party co-deputy leader, has shared a conspiracy theory about the Golders Green attack in which two Jewish men were stabbed.

It emerged the Muslim Greens, a group of party activists, chatted on a private WhatsApp group over the weekend about launching a campaign to highlight the alleged failure to report Ishmael Hussein, the third victim of the April 29 stabbings. There is no suggestion that this idea has the backing of Mr Hussein.

The private group chat, which included Mothin Ali, the Green Party’s other co-deputy leader, suggested the “racist double standard” in the Government’s handling of the attack also needed to be challenged.

The Golders Green stabbings are the latest in a spate of attacks on the British Jewish community. Last week, Essa Suleiman was charged with the attempted murder of Moshi Shine, 76, and 34-year-old Shloime Rand.

Media outlets reported that he was also charged with the attempted murder of Mr Hussein in Southwark, south London, earlier on the morning of April 29

Ms Millward shared a post from the NewsCord account that claimed Mr Hussein had been “erased from headlines to suit a weaponised, desperate narrative”.
The Greens’ deputy leader commented: “How can this be? Three attempted murders and only two reported?”

NewsCord is an AI-generated news aggregator and campaigning platform set up after the October 7 attacks to challenge the “Western media” and how it was “justifying and manufacturing consent for Israel’s war”.

Do you know how many black boys get stabbed every week in London? Where is the press outrage for them?

I’m deeply sad for the Jewish victims. I am also just as sad for anyone else this happens to.

Any life taken in this way is unacceptable and devastating.

It doesn’t mean the G Party are antisemitic.

There has rightly been a lot of media attention in the past on black boys getting stabbed in London.

But why use crimes against a different group in society to distract from the rise in antisemitism we have seen in this country since October 7th 2023?

The third man is mentioned in the 4th sentence so you are wrong to say that the BBC article only mentions the 2 Jewish men.

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green, north London on Wednesday.

Essa Suleiman, 45, is accused of attacking Shloime Rand, 34, and Moshe Shine, 76.

Both men suffered serious injuries and were treated in hospital, with the Metropolitan Police declaring it a terrorist incident.

Suleiman is also accused of attempting to murder Ishmail Hussein in a knife attack at Hussein's flat in Southwark, south London, earlier the same day. Hussein was somebody that Suleiman knew.

The title and every other part of the article states 2 Jewish men and no other mention. WEIRD.

Is calling Jews ‘cockroaches’ your idea of supporting Palestine?

You’re the only one doing any conflating (and obfuscating) on this thread.

I’m just interested as to why the Green Party chose Palestine as their cause de jour? Why not Sudan, where people are being murdered in their thousands? Why not the plight of Afghan women and girls? Why not the Chinese Uyghurs? Why not the Iranian people? Why specifically Palestine?

EamonnFyre · 06/05/2026 07:12

Maybe don’t ask if you’re being unreasonable if you don’t want to be told that you might be.

Antisemitism in a political party is a big concern to many people and has nothing to do with being a threat to the mainstream.

Or are you suggesting antisemitism should be accepted as part of the mainstream?

He’s Jewish.

did you have anything to say when an anti semitic caricature was published?

Twiglets1 · 06/05/2026 07:11

EamonnFyre · 06/05/2026 07:05

If you conflate supporting Palestine with being anti-Semitic, yes. It seems as though many people do.

That's not the case. No issues with people supporting Palestine, the issue is with a campaign to minimise another antisemitic attack in Britain by highlighting instead an attack based on something else (knife crimes against someone known to the perpetrator, which is far more common and doesn't normally get much if any media attention ).

Well I think supporting a terrorist regime such as Hamas is not a good look but whatever. I’d have thought though, the Green Party would have been more interested in supporting the Iranian people as well. Where are all the marches in support of the Iranians fighting and being murdered by a totalitarian regime? In fact, didn’t some pro Palestinians attack a Free Iran March? Why would that be do you think? Maybe it’s not so much pro Palestine but antisemetic?….

Isn’t this exactly how they ousted Corbyn from Labour when he was high in the polls? It’s interesting how anyone perceived as a threat to the mainstream gets this slung at them.

I guess I’d the Green Party don’t have a new scandal every day we won’t have anything to discuss

It’s not a scandal though is it it’s just calling things as it is.

It’s not antisemitic to point out that the reporting on these attacks has been troublesome.

EamonnFyre · 06/05/2026 07:05

Wearenotborg · 06/05/2026 06:52

but wasn’t Corbyn found to be antisemitic also? Don’t you think having many members having to be investigated for antisemitism at the same time is a sign of what the party stands for? Do you think it’s a coincidence all these racists felt welcome and comfortable joining this party? How come none of the other parties have this problem, abd they’re bigger?

The Greens are no better than Reform when it comes to dog whistling their acolytes and gaslighting people about racism.

Edited

Agree they are two cheeks of the same arse when it comes to racism they just choose to pick on different groups in society.

Well if they don't want to be brought down for hideous antisemitic racism, have they thought about not being hideously antisemitic and racist?

What seems to happen is that while they are a fringe player, everyone ignores them, the way you would ignore a racist great uncle or a dirty ranting nutter on the street. Then they start to become more prominent and everyone goes, hang on a minute...

Look at the number of people on these threads who were going to vote green because 'environment' despite the Green party having no relevant envirnomental policies, and all the horrible stuff associated with them.

I just read a bbc article and it only mentioned 2 Jewish men being stabbed apart from the court hearing where they mention the third man. The whole article is about antisemitism and the 2 Jewish men.

This man was just a nutter who should have been sectioned - concerns about him had been repeatedly raised.

There are around 1200 domestic stabbing incidents a year in London. Three per day. It’s genuinely less newsworthy than an apparent racist stranger-stabbing. Though also, it has been widely reported. Far far more than this type of crime usually is.

He travelled across London to a Jewish area to stab Jewish people. That's anti semitic.

We don't know why he stabbed the other man. I've seen it reported he was a housemate. It may have been anti Islamic. It may have been a personally falling out.

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis says there is deep concern and anguish in the Jewish community following the Golders Green attack.

Haven’t the Green Party now got 30 members they are having to investigate for antisemitism and racism? For a small party… that’s rather a lot isn’t it, especially all at the sane time?

I think the third attack has been mentioned much less than the other two. I also think that people seem to be scrabbling about looking for reasons to moan about the Greens and Zack Polanski. If you don’t like them, don’t vote for them, but don’t bleat about spurious things which appear to many to be a completely legitimate concern. Anyone would think it is an orchestrated campaign against a minority party which might take some votes from the mainstream.

‘Scrabbling about’ and ‘bleating’’. Personally I am a fan of discussing politics in a democracy close to election time.
If people discuss Greens and Reform more it is because they are more extreme and their extreme policies and resident nutjobs more worthy of exposure.

I agree that the third attack has been mentioned less but that is only because the Muslim man was known to the attacker so falls under the category of a friend attacking a friend rather than an antisemitic attack.

The only orchestrated campaign about these attacks is the NewsCord one, the account that Ms Milliband shared a post from. As it notes in the article, NewsCord is an AI-generated news aggregator and campaigning platform set up after the October 7 attacks to challenge the “Western media” and how it was “justifying and manufacturing consent for Israel’s war”.
