AIBU to think this Green Party response raises antisemitism concerns?

Reported today that Rachel Millward, the Green Party co-deputy leader, has shared a conspiracy theory about the Golders Green attack in which two Jewish men were stabbed.

It emerged the Muslim Greens, a group of party activists, chatted on a private WhatsApp group over the weekend about launching a campaign to highlight the alleged failure to report Ishmael Hussein, the third victim of the April 29 stabbings. There is no suggestion that this idea has the backing of Mr Hussein.

The private group chat, which included Mothin Ali, the Green Party’s other co-deputy leader, suggested the “racist double standard” in the Government’s handling of the attack also needed to be challenged.

The Golders Green stabbings are the latest in a spate of attacks on the British Jewish community. Last week, Essa Suleiman was charged with the attempted murder of Moshi Shine, 76, and 34-year-old Shloime Rand.

Media outlets reported that he was also charged with the attempted murder of Mr Hussein in Southwark, south London, earlier on the morning of April 29

Ms Millward shared a post from the NewsCord account that claimed Mr Hussein had been “erased from headlines to suit a weaponised, desperate narrative”.
The Greens’ deputy leader commented: “How can this be? Three attempted murders and only two reported?”

NewsCord is an AI-generated news aggregator and campaigning platform set up after the October 7 attacks to challenge the “Western media” and how it was “justifying and manufacturing consent for Israel’s war”.

Oh do have a think about your last question, put it in the context of recent events and then try again.

Until you can manage that, stop wasting my time.

so now anyone you disagree with is wasting your time. Interesting, very interesting. You’re not actually capable of having a proper discussion about this, you just ask mindless questions in an attempt to look intelligent.

Questioning the media reporting to what end? Whats your point about it?

My point is that the media rhetoric at the moment is very damaging, and things like this (ignoring the third victim) allow for conspiracy theories and tropes to be spread about.

I think the third attack has been mentioned much less than the other two. I also think that people seem to be scrabbling about looking for reasons to moan about the Greens and Zack Polanski. If you don’t like them, don’t vote for them, but don’t bleat about spurious things which appear to many to be a completely legitimate concern. Anyone would think it is an orchestrated campaign against a minority party which might take some votes from the mainstream.

100% this. It’s interesting.

Nobody is trying to deflect from the attack. They are questioning the media reporting style.

They just lie don't they? The third victim was mentioned extensively in the media.

Though the two Jewish victims got more publicity, only because they were attacked purely on antisemitic grounds whereas the other attack had a more personal motive.

Have to admit, I only found out about the third victim here on MN!

This does not change the fact that the Greens are an absolute disgrace.

wecangoupupup · 06/05/2026 07:58

Nobody is implying either of those things.

I’ll raise another point for you then - there was a former synagogue that was attacked. Former being the key word here - it had been disused since 2020 and there have been attempts from a Muslim organisation to purchase it.

This is being reported as a hate crime - why? Is it not more likely that this is just mindless vandalism?

So it’s okay to perpetuate the stereotype that Jewish people have large noses?

It’s not a stereotype to draw someone accurately. The nose in the cartoon isn’t cartoonishly big in my opinion, it is like his actual nose.

But the fact the man (I also think this is a key feature) was happy to stab his Muslim friend makes stabbing those of a different faith, less about faith/culture and more he’s a violent moron.

When does asking a question become anti Semitic ? Zack/Dave is himself Jewish.
Is my post Anti Semitic?

So you think this man travelled to Golders Green, a well known Jewish area, and just happened upon two men wearing Jewish dress, and stabbed them, randomly, because he’s violent? And there’s no other reason?

Yes, he stabbed a Muslim person known to him because he’s violent. I would suggest he didn’t need to travel to Golders Green to stab two more people if that’s all he wanted to do that day.

Can you not see how disingenuous you are being?

It seems as though people are very happy to erase his identity as a Jewish man because they don’t like what he says about Israel.

It seems as if you believe that Jews all think as one and we hound anyone who deviates from our collective mind.

dairydebris · 06/05/2026 08:10

Its so interesting watching the 'critical of Israel' crew minimize antisemitism. Cognitive dissonance in action.

But he doesn’t. You just don’t like what he’s saying.

ForWittyTealOP · 06/05/2026 08:07

Oh you know him personally. You should have said, it sheds a whole new light on your posts.

What?

So you’re okay with antisemitism if it’s towards someone you disagree with?

HRTQueen · 06/05/2026 08:09

wecangoupupup · 06/05/2026 08:03

Everyone is. He isn’t antisemitic, for fucks sake. He raised a perfectly valid point. He is being smeared because he is anti-Israel.

AhBiscuits · 06/05/2026 08:08

ZP's response to the attack, where he questioned whether the police were too heavy handed, has really made me think twice about him tbh. And I live in a Green area and have voted Green in the past. He didn't drop the knife when tased and several officers screaming at him, a few kicks is reasonable and proportionate. He'd be dead in many other countries.

SquirrelSoShiny · 06/05/2026 08:08

OneTealShaker · 06/05/2026 06:30

To be honest, there isn’t a single thing about the Greens which makes them appear normal or rational.

They all seem like misfits and outcasts who don’t fit into society, have created their own cult and somehow duped the naive annd sheltered into thinking they know what they are talking about.

This sums it up really. A party of 'useful idiots' and their cult leader with the smile that never reaches his eyes.

I feel sorry for the last 3 members who naively believe they give a shit about the environment!

wecangoupupup · 06/05/2026 07:29

Erm, that’s not what I’ve said?

I never once said whether the attacks were antisemitic or not - they’ve not been mentioned at all. I said what isn’t antisemitism is Zach calling out the hypocrisy in the media. Refusing to mention a Muslim victim is pretty disgusting, like it or not.

https://x.com/bellacaledonia/status/2050893057462075450?s=46

The cartoon on the left is the one I’m referring to. Very reminiscent of the anti semitic cartoons published in the 1940s. But because you don’t like Zach’s political beliefs I’m guessing that’s okay?

Oh you know him personally. You should have said, it sheds a whole new light on your posts.

Who does?

Not sure who is managing to erase his identity as a Jewish man

I understand why people are questioning why a Jewish man is playing to antisemitism to gain votes

Concern about antisemitism in mainstream politics is described by you as "bleating". Have a think about why that might be.

Perhaps it’s because people are tired of being labelled as antisemitic because they criticise Israel?

There have been four or five attacks, all of which are absolutely horrendous. But now the nation is being painted as some iteration of 1940s Germany, that everyone is walking around a Nazi. It’s baffling.

Isn’t this exactly how they ousted Corbyn from Labour when he was high in the polls? It’s interesting how anyone perceived as a threat to the mainstream gets this slung at them.

Who is "they"?

The Times cartoon rehashed antisemitic images. I’d say it was antisemitic, but I also think those images are so ingrained some people don’t spot them. (After all lifelong antiracist Jezza couldn’t spot them in a massive mural).

The attack in Golders Green was antisemitic and anyone deflecting that by talking about a separate assault carried out by the attacker on an acquaintance probably needs to ask themselves what they’re hoping to achieve.

Nobody is trying to deflect from the attack. They are questioning the media reporting style.

ForWittyTealOP · 06/05/2026 07:55

Far right tactics. Tell lies, repeat lies until the truth doesn't matter any more. Trump does it to an extreme degree.

I'm certain I'm not talking to a human being in good faith here. Just a bot or shill repeating the conspiracy theory that only attack on Jews are reported, the implication being that we own the media.

Nobody is implying either of those things.
