Reform”s policy of Immigration detention centres in Green constituencies.

Regardless of your political persuasion, this just demonstrates the dismal state of British politics.

What happened to the governing party governing in the interests of everyone, regardless of who they voted for? And what about Reform voters in Green consistencies?

Fucking awful, the lot of them.

My boss is far left and lives in a very affulent area and they do not have migrants hanging about where he lives.

He is far too liberal and accommodating to the masses flooding into the country. Has no idea because it doesnt affect him. Same with those in power, they have no idea.

Its only right that Green areas get what they vote for.

This message tells me you have no idea what an immigration removal centre is, and therefore no understanding of this (stupid, publicity stunt) policy, but you're happy to parrot along your agreement with it.

I lived for years in a gorgeous leafy and affluent part of the cotswolds, a couple of minutes from an IRC. You wouldn't know it was there because it's basically a prison. Awful place. No Green voter would want them, in their own constituency or anywhere.

I suspect the Electoral Commission will be interested in this one. On the face of it looks like it could be an offence under s.8 Elections Act 2022.

Quite happy to have current human rights act scrapped thanks to- just a new one that doesn’t stick up for criminals over law abiding citizens. Perfect

By voting greens you’re voting for unchecked mass illegal
immigration ( and millions of ‘legal) although I guess as it’s free open borders it would all be legal / so why not put them there if you’re happy with that, perfectly logical to me .

And greens are the most racist party of the lot!

Ah yes, the Green Party are famously pro detention centres. And Reform don’t like them at all..

If areas get what they vote for, can Green areas keep the human rights act, and we’ll just have it scrapped from Reform areas?

No one who votes Green is voting for Detention centres. Anywhere.

But a Green area isn’t going to be uniformly Green, is it? In fact it’s entirely plausible that it’ll be less than 50% Green.

Also, if the detention centres are doing their job, why will migrants be hanging about the streets? Unless Farage is getting his excuses in early.

But hey, so long as you get one over your boss, it’s all good. Politics is definitely about revenge and petty scoring, so hey ho.

It is illegal to use threats as a canvassing ploy, and I presume that is what is intended here.

Migrants?

Do you still live in Spain?

And it keeps Farage's £5m donation out of the news

KeyLimeCake · 05/05/2026 18:04

I think it's just to try to shock people to not vote Green in the local elections.

They won't actually be able to build these detention centres but it keeps Reform relevant.

bedfrog · 05/05/2026 17:47

I thought they were going to 'stop the boats' and deport every immigrant anyway? Why would they need detention centres in that case?
Also, why don't they want them in their own constituencies, since that's what Reform voters want? A bit NIMBY.

Smeuse · 05/05/2026 17:42

It demonstrates the dismal state of Reform UK
