Fair. My cycling stuff is in the garage with the bikes. My running belt goes on a shelf in wardrobe for such accessories.

mine has about 20 settings and all have different times (including a setting for soft toys, one for trainers, one for silks….)

It’s an AEG, a rated. I love it tbh. The cycle times don’t bother me at all.

yes, that's what I do, except for the dryer (I don't have one) so I do watch for 'good drying days' & get a load put in!

I'd say the same about my Bosch and it's half the price of a Miele.

I do 5-6 loads a week and tend to spread them over 3-4 days.

It depends on how often you wash things like towels, bedding, bras. That of course is another thread but some people aren't as obsessive with these things and so it drastically reduces the amount of loads.
I can wear my bra for 4 days straight for example so I only need to wash them all every couple of weeks.

Some clothes look terrible creased

We don’t own this many clothes. I pretty much need to do a load every day so it can dry because I only have one day’s worth of spare school uniform, PE kit, sports kit for evening training, clothes for mucking out my horse, pyjamas. I wear the same jeans most of the week but really only own 2 shirts so have to wash one in case I need it for the next day if the other one ends up sweaty or splattered with dinner.

get yourself a Miele. Pricey but I’d give up my right arm before I gave up my Miele

Does anyone else just eash tbibgs when they need to, dry outside if its nice but uses the dryer if necessary, will do something lije the eibter ckats or blankets on a nice spfibg day before they are packed away and has no idea exactly how many loads that equates to weekly?

I do tea towels & dish cloths together in a separate wash. I don't like the thought of them being washed with pants/socks/bath towels etc but it always turn a bit nasty on here with people saying the idea is that things get clean, doesn't your machine work etc.

But I've always done everything (except rare delicates) on 40°. 💁🏻‍♀️

Yeah mine does that sometimes too! It's annoying if I'm waiting to go out. I've occasionally had to stop it & do the rinse/spin cycle when I get home again, but I don't like doing it because the clothes get much more wrinkled.

On Mumsnet everything is chucked in! I do separately:
coloureds-weekly
whites/ pales weekly
tea towels-when there’s a carrier bag full
bedding -2-3 weekly
towels-weekly
bath mats- now and again

We did have a huge garage at the time where muddy gloves went with muddy bikes, sandy kayaks, camping gear etc it does make a HUGE difference (& my current life IS very different. 😢). In your situation I'd put them (well he would be told to!) in a bag (just a tote bag) with the footwear he uses & helmet etc). Then the bag out in the least PITA spot possible.🌷

What about tea towels and dishcloths? Does she mix these in with the clothes? And surely bedding / towels need a hotter wash.

Mine has a 30 minute wash, but I always use the cycle where it weighs the load & takes into account what heat (40°) & spin (1200 if drying indoors/800 line drying) you've chosen and then determines how long it needs. Usually about 1hr 40 mins.

I don't really mind how long it wants to take to do what it considers a good job, it's doing it. Not me!

it's a balance of time & agitation. Faster washes are more agitation & harder in the clothes, 'Eco' washes are longer & slower, more soaking lower agitation.

each make of machine varies & people need to check their specific machine if they're trying to save money, because it's not always the wash you'd think it would be. But if they're happy with the extra expense & extra cost & feel the wash is good enough then 💁🏻‍♀️

I do between 12 - 15 loads a week! For 5 of us.

I think Id have 3 loads a week if it was just me living here.

Well humour me then & post one. I love seeing other people's kitchens. My current one is bloody tiny & I can't settle on how I'm going to re-do it (well now I'm disabled 'how it's going to BE re-done because I can no longer do it myself 😥)

I know its so much but swimming alone is 1 load, school t shirt whites are 1, bedding 3 loads, towels 1 and the rest is clothes as the kids are very outdoor types plus have gym kits including mine.

Is that not really expensive in terms of energy and water though? I always use the eco setting and it has saved me loads - I do 2 loads a day so every penny counts!

I don’t know about your machine but on mine those are the freshen up cycles. I’d only use them on barely worn clothes and a half empty drum definitely not my full load including towels.

I use a claimed 59 minute cycle I’d never is though because I’ve waited when it says 16 minutes left and come back after 10 and might still say 13 minutes to go 😅
