AIBU to be amazed my friend does all her laundry in one day?

Easy to do 2.5 loads in a day if weather nice or uses a tumble dryer if you get up and get it on first thing. Maybe not a lot of it needs ironing/she has a large capacity machine. I’m amazed at the 2.5 loads though, at a minimum in a week I have darks, whites, colours, socks/boxers (house full of boys), towels, bedding. I suppose, if weather has been nice I could get away with a mixed load of colours/lights, mixed bedding/towels, small load of darks inc.dark socks and boxers.

I had four loads ready to go today, it’s damp outside and not all of it can be tumble dried so it definitely won’t be washed, dried, ironed and put away by tonight!

So do I half price electricity on Sunday

I do all mine in one day - only 2 of us most of the time - 3 loads - lights/darks/ bedclothes or towels. I put the first lot on late at night on a timer as there's a super cheap rate overnight then a 45 minute tumble for each - fold and into a bssket and upstairs. I don't iron much but save that up and do a big iron once a month.

People who have large capacity machines, don't change their bedding & towels often enough, put everything in mixed loads I guess.

I don't think it's that crazy. I only do bedding/towels every fortnight. I do the kids stuff on a Friday. Do a small load on a Saturday after swimming with Friday's uniform. Do mine and partner's stuff in another load at some point in the week. Do kids bedding as and when. I don't use tumble drier and I def don't iron 😅

I have limited space to hang washing both inside and outside so have to do it regularly or else I’d be struggling to get it dried.

My husband would save up all the washing and do 5 loads in a day. I get the logic of this as it allows it all to be separated. But then I come home to all the clothes crammed onto a rack/hangers over doors/on radiators.

Depends on the size of your family and how soiled your clothes get. We have between 8-10 people here and I love a bit of gardening so I’m usually going through a couple of outfits a day. Then there’s all the bedding so we have two machines that are on at least once a day each if not more.

She wears one jumper for 2 days is that ok? That’s two jumpers a week, the other day is a sports jumper. Which she takes off for sport. She showers daily…no she doesn’t stink

She sounds pretty well organised tbh. If she works during the week then her weekends will be time for pulling in jobs at home. FWIW I like to iron clothes as they come in off the washing line, but only if they need ironing of course. Everything else is sorted folded up after thorough airing and put away 💪

I do a load a day. Every day. I also iron it all and put it all away and iron everything except socks. My absolute favourite is a dry windy day as I can wash, put it on the line to dry, bring it in and iron it and put it all away in the same day.

family of four, two teens that are taller than me. I do one clothes wash a day then probably another 4 loads per week of towels and bedding. I do have a drier but there are a lot of clothes that can’t go in the drier. Can’t dry in the garden as my pollen allergy is too bad.

I’m a single parent family and only need to do 3 loads a week. Doesn’t require much effort and I don’t have a tumble dryer. Laundry basket is pretty much empty. But I don’t change our bedding weekly.

No idea how she manages this. I have 3 kids (one is a 5 month old). Some days I do 5 loads of washing, others 1–2, but I still have massive piles of washing. I just can’t get through it.
Your friend must put it all in the dryer, which I don’t do because it shrinks everything.

So how often is the jumper getting washed then? Trust me, they smell if the clothes are washed rarely and other kids notice.

At DD's school, PE was usually so tame, they never worked up a sweat.

Absolutely the same about jeans, but school trousers and skirts need a wash after a full day of school. Playing football at lunchtime in the mud, sitting on filthy canteen chairs - you get the picture.

Soery, skirts ans trousers every day? Ridiculous and totally unnecessary. Shirts, yes, especially as dc reach puberty and are smelly. Yes to socks and underwear, vests etc. Pe kit in high school- yes. But day to day school trousers and shorts? He'll no. Ditto jeans should.be worn a few times, trackies if not used for exercise etc. Which is am struggling to teach dd - if she tries in a pair of jeans, decides not to wear them, and takes them off... she will try put them in the wash!! 🤣

Yeah my dd wears a fresh shirt most days, so that’s 4 shirts a week, but they are shirts and they don’t take up a lot of space.
