So bored of it.

This is nearly every mum in my area, pilates & matcha, botox and handyman & cleaner recommendations. No depth, no real worries..basic.

Aibu to want to meet funny, down to earth mums with depth and interesting pasts and conversations?

@Wheredidallthegoodonesgo don't forget the Dry Robes thrown in for good measure as well 🤣

Edited

Oh and SUVs obviously on a lease.

PenelopeAsks · 29/04/2026 21:27

It must be wonderful to be such a deep and interesting person op. 🙄

Malasana · 29/04/2026 21:27

We’re all bored of you too with your judgemental attitude and mean mind. And we don’t want to be friends either you either.

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 29/04/2026 21:27

You sound like a pick me.

Move.

MrsLFii · 29/04/2026 21:22

Yes, yes, women are all the same, shallow as a puddle, boring and have nothing to offer the world. Good job there’s women like you around that are so wonderfully different.

TaraRhu · 29/04/2026 21:22

I'm down to earth, and I'd say with some depth.. but I love matcha, Pilates and if i could afford it I'd paralyse every face muscle I could... Don't be so judgy.

Jk987 · 29/04/2026 21:20

You really think they have no real worries or depth based on their appearance and small talk in the playground? You are narrow minded. Let people be.

TY78910 · 29/04/2026 21:18

Why are you making the assumption that they’re incapable of interesting pasts and conversations? It’s just fashion. That’s what’s in right now. Look back through photos of your mum and her mates and see how they all wore the same stuff and shared the same interests that were popular at the time.

I really don’t understand this weird obsession on MN with painting all the legging with socks over mums with the same brush. Same as kids in tracksuits sold in bulk in JD sports must be wronguns. Yawn.

GardenCovent · 29/04/2026 21:13

Do you not have any other friends op, how about school/uni/work friends if these friends of yours are so basic?
Could it be that they don’t consider you to be a friend so wouldn’t confide their worries with you?

Coconutter24 · 29/04/2026 21:12

Eumaybe · 29/04/2026 20:59

How does the OP know? The matcha of course… so superficial! 😂 or may be the socks? Socks tell you loads about personality.

I’ll have to be more careful about what socks I choose, I don’t want to wear a pair that says I don’t have an interesting past or conversations lol

CatamaranViper · 29/04/2026 21:10

How else are you supposed to wear socks with leggings? They look weird under the leggings...

DinosaurBlue · 29/04/2026 21:10

Butterme · 29/04/2026 21:06

I’m judging them based on what OP has said - that they’ve got no depth to them, aren’t down to earth, aren’t funny and can’t hold a decent conversation.

No, that’s not what she said. She said that’s what she wants to meet.

All she said is that they have no depth, and she seems to be assuming anyone who wears leggings, etc has no depth.

Again, this judging of other women you know nothing about because of their appearance really doesn’t make you cool or edgy. Quite the opposite actually.

Butterme · 29/04/2026 21:06

DinosaurBlue · 29/04/2026 21:01

What would drive you mad? You know nothing about these women and are judging them solely on how they look and what they drink…

wahwahwoo · 29/04/2026 21:04

What’s wrong with drinking matcha and sharing recommendations?! You sound really judgemental.

Oneborneverydecade · 29/04/2026 21:04

Fashionlover123 · 29/04/2026 20:46

Sounds like me but I am actually interesting in my opinion 😂😂

Sounds like me too, I'll admit I'm pretty dull though. I could talk about the gym all day...I should probably get a second hobby

outerspacepotato · 29/04/2026 21:04

A good handyman is damn hard to find. Matcha in the morning is wonderful. I like Pilates and have a reformer. Botox, you do you. Same with wardrobe.

She sounds fine. What's your beef? She doesn't drone on about drunken shenanigans or dudes you have no idea who they are she used to bang or she got stuck on top of a mountain? 🙄

Be present now.

Go blab on about Schopenhauer or Sparta or Les Annales or women's figure skating over on that street corner. People can like what they like.

Bloodycrossstitch · 29/04/2026 21:03

Just concentrate on making friends through all those fascinating hobbies and interests you must have then? 🥱

DinosaurBlue · 29/04/2026 21:01

Butterme · 29/04/2026 21:00

That would drive me mad.

Are they genuinely all boring or are they just doing it to fit in?

I would try and find friends outside of your area.

I assume these are school mums?

MississippiCroc · 29/04/2026 21:00

I have Botox, do yoga and love a matcha. I don’t have a cleaner. And I don’t think I would want you as a friend tbh.

Coconutter24 · 29/04/2026 19:51

funny, down to earth mums with depth and interesting pasts and conversations

How do you know the mums aren’t like this? Have you spoke to them or just judging them from afar?

DinosaurBlue · 29/04/2026 20:58

I do all those things.

I’m also a lawyer in the City, love reading historical non-fiction and will happily debate politics.

Just because someone wears leggings, gets Botox and has a cleaner, doesn’t mean they are shallow.

Your attempt to be the cool pick me girl really isn’t that cool.

JasmineFontana · 29/04/2026 20:55

I'd fit the description in your op but the truth is, I'm really private and tend to keep school gate conversations quite surface level - including nonsense like Pilates and handyman recommendations.

I don't generally speak to casual mum friends about the sex parties I've been to, my weird childhood, my favourite rock band that I have seen 12+ times, the book I'm writing. I'm blonde, have Botox and wear gym wear to pick up a lot - you wouldn't know anything about me based on how I look and I imagine it's the case for many of the women you're talking about.

Some people are private, some people don't 'wear' their personalities. Chatting about mundane stuff is actually a fairly normal way of communicating with acquaintances! It tends to be safer when you don't know somebody very well.
