Hi, I was our shopping etc, and I saw a van that said that refrigeration services were available.

”007 REFRIGERATION.. licensed to chill”

It made me smile, and it got me wondering if any others had spotted an eye catching slogan.

For some reason, it seems to be 'a thing' for local authorities' gritter trucks to have amusing names - often put to the public vote.

Some of my favourites are Spreadie Mercury, Snow Be Gone Kenobi, Gritty Gritty Bang Bang, Slush the Magic Wagon, Gritter Thunburg, Gritney Spears and Usain Salt!

I think those are the Scottish ones? There’s even a tracker app for them. 😄

I do love this fairly recent trend of trade specific cherish plates.
Theres a building comp y near us that has one on every vehicle, but they’re not very exciting. The best was one I saw a couple of years back- a sewerage tanker that had POO as the last three letters.

There’s a bakery company in my area that has named all its trucks in a nice curly font on each cab. Off the top of my head there’s; Breaddy Mercury, Marylin Bunroe, Jennifer Loafez, and Bread Pitt.

Seen a couple of places with buses having plates 'X1 BUS', 'X2 BUS' etc, where X is the initial of the city.

I've travelled a bit in India, and some of the road signs to encourage non-shit driving are amusing. "Road is hilly, don't be silly," "Safety on road, safe tea at home" and "After whisky, driving risky" are the ones I can remember.

You often see 'Twenty is plenty' signs in this country. The mischievous part of me always wants to add "But a ton is more fun"!

LetItGoToRuin · 29/04/2026 13:16

An Australian scaffolding company a while back whose slogan was:
"Satisfaction Guaranteed with Every Erection"

AWeeCupOfTeaAndAnIndividualFruitTrifle · 29/04/2026 11:48

There's a company who sell Christmas trees outside our local Morrison's every December called We Tree Kings. The only problem is that, when run together, their website looks like it says 'wet reekings' which always makes me think of either stinky, sweaty clothes or noxious farts Grin

JustMeHello · 29/04/2026 11:47

There's a work van near me that I see often that says Paris - New York - Berlin - Matlock (but mostly Matlock, let's be honest)

1AnotherOne · 28/04/2026 13:08

A couple of work vans. There’s a window cleaner near me with a van in the Only Fools & Horses logo - his company name is Only Poles & Hoses.

another van ‘The Singh Builders’ with a slogan underneath ‘you’ve hired cowboys - now try the Indians’ 😂 loved that one

I’ve also seen an “Only Fools and Hearses” van!

JuvenileHistrionics · 29/04/2026 11:08

Tree surgeons near me called WoodFellers!

AWeeCupOfTeaAndAnIndividualFruitTrifle · 29/04/2026 10:21

There used to be (maybe still is) a shop selling door accessories called Knobs & Knockers.

A hairdresser in Nottingham called Public Hair.

There's also a small village in Shropshire called Knockin - guess what their local retail premises is called?!

AWeeCupOfTeaAndAnIndividualFruitTrifle · 29/04/2026 10:17

PrincessHoneysuckle · 28/04/2026 15:28

Not a shop but I walked past a regular house called Fookem Hall once.

Was it in the small Welsh village of Llareggub?

Foundress · 29/04/2026 10:12

These are great. There used to be a sandwich shop in Middlesbrough called Big Buns always made me laugh when seeing it.

LeopardPrintFleece · 29/04/2026 10:11

I dont know if the mobile kebab place called Jason's Doner Van is real but it made me laugh when I was told about it.

Also a sewage lorry with 'no stools are left in this vehicle overnight'.

Spidey66 · 29/04/2026 10:06

There used to be a shop in Stoke Newington selling white goods called Sell Fridges.

MrsShawnHatosy · 29/04/2026 10:01

There is a law firm based in the Midlands called Wright Hassall. (Say it out loud.)

Also saw a poster advertising viagra on my local chemist’s door “Won’t turn you into Sean Connery, but might make you Roger Moore”.

AnchorWHAT · 29/04/2026 09:49
