This is a reasoned take and I understand

I still just think the simplest answer is that its an inside job 😕

Why wouldn’t there be people angered enough by Trump to try? Look at how strongly people feel about him.

BelleHathor · 26/04/2026 22:53

The co-ordinated talking points by MAGA influencers on the ballroom is telling as is the super quick release of the shooters manifesto and the video of him with JD Vances wife. Butler 2.0.

So was it just about the ballroom, likely not.

According to sources in the Whitehouse Susie Wiles has only recently started telling Trump about how badly he is polling with his base due to Epstein, Iran etc. He's on course to lose bigly at the midterms which means impeachment and his family being investigated.

Rich Baris is a "MAGA" pollster who has been warning about Trump betraying his base and the chickens coming home to roost for over a year, this stream from a few days ago is enlightening. The first 45 minutes conveying what previous Trump synchophants now feel are devastating.

Well, perhaps consider whether Trump would want a note with the above contents to be widely circulated in the press.

I don't buy it, but I could cobble together an explanation for why he might want to include the pedophile accusations - he could use it as evidence that accusing him of abusing young girls is a national security threat, as a new means of continuing the cover-up.

Even then, though - we are talking about a man who cannot bear criticism - his ego is such that I can't imagine him wanting to "put some out there" even if it were to use to his advantage - especially with Epstien stuff largely out of the headlines at the moment.

Including references to the bombing of the girls' school in Iran is harder to find a compelling angle on - but with the Iran conflict ongoing, you could stitch something together.

The apparent extra-jurisdictional murders of fishermen, though, and the un-Christian nature of his administration...I just don't see that making it in.

People wanting Trump dead, and one in a million being sufficiently motivated to do something about it - its the obvious explanation and fits far better.

I don't particularly care if people buy into false-flag stuff here, but I do think it a bit silly.

“Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial,” it said. “I’m not a schoolkid blown up, or a child starved, or a teenage girl abused by the many criminals in this administration. Turning the other cheek when someone else is oppressed is not Christian behavior; it is complicity in the oppressor’s crimes."

“I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes."

"In order to minimise casualties, I will also be using buckshot rather than slugs (less penetration through walls). I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people chose to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn't come to that."

Those are the bits of the "manifesto" that I've seen quoted in the press.

It reads as genuine sentiment, to me.

I think the instinct not to trust a thing that comes out of the Trump administration is a sound one. If they have no credibility, they have only themselves to blame. Nonetheless, the simple explanation is usually the best, and I don't see any compelling reason to buy into "false flag" theories, here.

Well you could try countering with a list of recent prominent assassinations, fire bombings and physical attacks by far right activists.

Historically though the far left are responsible for significantly more deaths than the far right and the far left can accurately be described as more dangerous than the far right.

Deaths by
Hitler- 11 to 12 million
Stalin - 9 to 20 million
Mao - 40 to 70 million

I don't know where you're getting the figure of 11-12 million deaths at the hands of Hitler from, but it's far too low. Estimates of as many as 17 million deaths directly attributed to the Nazis are frequently cited (e.g. by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum) and that's before you look at total deaths as a result of WW2, frequently estimated at between 70 million and 85 million.

1dayatatime · 26/04/2026 22:21

So the work on the ballroom was legally stopped because the work lacked proper environmental assessments, and proceeded without filing plans with the National Capital Planning Commission. Basically he didn't bother following the planning process.

But now we literally have people suggesting that Trump organised a fake assassination attempt on himself just in order to get his planning approval.

BelleHathor · 26/04/2026 22:05

Extremely timely imo, as a court just ruled that Trump would require congressional approval and ordered the above ground construction halted.

The MAGA (what little that's left of them) "Paytriots" all got their botted talking points and repeated them like the clapping seals that they are 😉😄

GrandmasCat · 26/04/2026 21:47

Surely this is staged??? Call all the world press on Sunday (of all days), to witness how yet another sniper misses his target? I bet we will be hearing aplenty tomorrow about how Trump’s God’s chosen one surviving so many “assassination” attempts and miraculously regrowing an ear, when it is just clearly a distraction from all the mess and misery the US are dishing out around the world?

bookwormcrazy · 26/04/2026 21:36

“This is why we need a ballroom at the White House!”

I wonder - and this is quite tin foil hat, I accept - whether he has a cohort of vulnerable men, who think theyre doing their 'patriotic duty' to Trump by taking the rap for these non events?

As an alternative theory, going by the many responses in this thread that seem to be glad of the attack and disappointed that it failed, is that maybe just maybe there are people out that actually want to try and kill Trump, and that this individual was such a person.

Seems a bit more plausible than Trump recruiting organising a "cohort of vulnerable young men" and then persuading them to attempt a fake assassination attempt on Trump where they are at a real risk of being killed- all in the name of patriotism .

Despite this it seems that there are still large numbers of people who do believe that Trump and his administration indeed spend their time recruiting vulnerable people for fake assassination attempts, presumably they believe this or "know" this because they are are so much better "informed" or know more than the rest of us. Or it could be that they are simply weird conspiracy theorists.

I'm not buying what the Trump administration is selling, sorry.

I see do you think he’s not a teacher and CNN or other couldn’t find out pretty quickly?

Ok I guess it’s at the point with conspiracies where there’s nothing that can be said.

No, he wasn’t radicalised, he was set up. None of it makes sense. His grandfather is supporting him and brought him to the station to avoid Tyler being shot on the doorstep.
The prosecution is withholding information against the defence, he’s a pasty.

The one shot dead at Mar-a-Lago was a Trump supporter who was disillusioned over the Epstein Files

Who are you talking about? I mean the 31 year old teacher arrested just now - Cole Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from California

EasternStandard · 26/04/2026 20:27

I think it’s more likely the current one was radicalised by online violence, look at the posts on here even saying do it.

It’s really not surprising in this current environment people get hooked on that rhetoric and try

This is interesting

100% correct...it is their modus operandi.

PomplaMouse · 26/04/2026 21:01

I don't own one, but I've attended a firing range to learn how to use a gun since the start of Trump's second term. Not because I would ever plan to use a gun in an offensive manner, but because I live close to the US border and the "51st state" talk from Trump felt extremely ominous for a time.

Although it does feel that the threat of an attempted annexation is no longer so immediate, there's good reason why Canadians view the US - under Trump, specifically - as the biggest threat we face as a country and as a democracy.

Were we seeing widespread political violence in Canada (or in the UK, where I'm originally from) I would be gravely concerned, regardless of how I felt about the views of the politican at which it was aimed. I can fully appreciate Americans feeling that same way, here.

But when the continued existence of a democracy is threatened by an external force, that's fundamentally different, and informs my reaction. We should respect the exiatence of all manner of opinions within a democracy, but not the views of an external actor that would end it.

Trying to frame it in left vs right terms, when analyzing the response from folks outside of the US, profoundly misses the point - and actually smacks of radicalization in itself.

merrymelody · 26/04/2026 20:58

Apparently during the elections Steve Bannon had a strategy he called flooding the zone with shit. The idea being that it will be so hard to stay on top of the endless nonsense, they can do whatever they want as no one can distinguish real, important events from the endless bullshit words and staged events.

This is interesting

There’s a manifesto and clips of his views including this

In the short 2017 clip, the suspect appears as an earnest student showcasing his prototype for a wheelchair emergency break during a technology event aimed at improving the lives of pensioners.

If you want someone who is doing it for Trump he’s pretty much the worst person you can go for to build that case. Ie a socially minded Harris supporting teacher.

I'm not buying what the Trump administration is selling, sorry.

The same reason that men blow themselves up on planes & trains. They are mentally ill & they have been groomed. They expect to die.

how do you know he is anti Trump? Other than that’s what Trumps admin have said.

i also wonder about the deaths of Epstein & Charlie Kirk.

What amazes me is that for a country that worships the gun above all else, no one seems to be very good shot 😂

Sadly plenty do, especially in schools. But not it seems in contrived and staged attempts at shooting the President.
