Really there is no point arguing using only extreme examples.

I don’t think Trump is necessarily left or right. He is interested in power and money for himself. I don’t think for a minute he cares whether tariffs or wars or getting rid of migrants will make the USA a better place for American citizens. He cares that people notice him and that markets react, and that important people on the world stage come to his door.

How does Pol Pot not enter into these conversations? Guy kills a quarter of the population, kills anyone modestly educated, so much so that it couldn’t effectively develop later on, the country even today feels subdued compared to its neighbors. Leftist violence cut down the most talented and intelligent people, and they’ve still not really recovered.

But it is bleak comedy what happened to Malcolm Caldwell, defended the Khmer Rouge in the West but then killed by them after actually showing up. And of those naive Westerners who went to China in the early days to support the communist movement, many ended up jailed and most were deeply disturbed by the Cultural Revolution.

Westerners are really sleeping on the horrors of leftism. Even in America, people have largely forgotten what leftist activists did in the 70s and 80s, stuff I had never been taught in school. You had a leftist group kidnap a judge and blow his head off, there’s this picture of this guy with a shotgun taped to his neck. Leftist groups had bombed the Capitol at least twice, sent bombs to a few other government buildings. Cops had been murdered by the Black Liberation Army, famously Chesa Boudin’s parents were involved in that.

I just don't think anyone really buys that Hitler and the Nazis were "leftism".

I would call myself left wing because I believe firmly in reducing inequality, I believe in things like universal healthcare free at the point of use, abortion rights and marriage equality. I want companies to be ethical - pay fair wages, not use child or forced labour, not use unsafe materials etc. I think we have a global responsibility and that international aid makes us safer.

That doesn't remotely align me with the Nazi party. The othering of people by race, sexuality, religion, disability is completely at odds with everything I believe in.

The extremes on both sides have more in common with each other than anyone else.

The Trump administration lifted the sanctions on Russian oil, temporarily they say. We will have to see if that is true.

Japan are buyers of Russian oil. And the tankers are nowhere near the SoH.

I think the idea is for KC to convince Trump and fix relations between him & Starmer ... we shall see.

I think to cancel, would lead to Trump having a huge row with UK/Starmer...

It was a good opportunity/excuse to cancel.
I hope the King is brave enough to challenge him as rolling out the red carpet, the dinner he hosted in the UK did not help build relations or dampen the DT’s constant attack on the UK.

Unrelated. They were all smiling like naughty toddlers at the pre written after speech. Dana White gave a very strange reaction to the event, Trump sitting like a Buffon while people scattered around and Vance was rushed away. At least DT felt safe enough to do an interview with 60 minutes. It’s so embarrassing for the American people.

BelleHathor · 27/04/2026 09:14

Well he did post that picture of him as Jesus a doctor and this is his faith advisor Paula White comparing Trump to Jesus:

On Russia, where exactly did i say Trump should Attack Russia? err i didn't... the far right always lie, its in their DNA

What exactly do you want America to do then? Send a few mean tweets?

Trump admires Putin, he allows him free rein, without criticism

He treats him like he treats Xi, because you need a working relationship with these kinds of powers. What’s the point in haranguing Xi personally?

Trump isn't just stopping Cuba from trading, yet again you distort what i said... The USA is blockading Cuba, stopping oil from other countries

Yea it’s meant to be a pressure tactic since the US controls or is unfriendly to its previous oil sources. Tbh I personally think it’s best if Mexico is allowed to ship oil but the US probably has a strategy in place, maybe they will make a move after the midterms.

They are definitely planning big moves, you can be sure Rubio is pushing hugely for it, it’s pretty much the dream of all Cubanos stateside

Darker · 27/04/2026 08:45

DT saying he wasn’t bothered by the events on Saturday seems really odd.

Maybe he thinks he’s invincible.

You ve a POTUS who is by any measure right wing

He is really not very right wing. He doesn’t go hard enough on many issues important to conservatives

Iran not having Nukes may be a worth while aim but has Trump achieved this? nope, far more likely they will go all out to have one now

Their ability to make a bomb is very much reduced. I think they are going to go with the ‘lawn mower’ approach that Israel does. I don’t give a fuck, Iran gets zero sympathy.

supported by Russia, which will Trump will not stand up too

So you don’t want America attacking Iran, but you do want America to attack Russia? Russia hasn’t done anything to Americans like Iran did during the American occupation of Iraq. Few appreciate what happened there via proxies (which is the reason why Soleymani in particular was targeted)

Then there is his actions on Cuba, starving the population of food, energy for hospitals, medicines, its pure evil

EU is one of Cuba’s major trading partners. So is China.

Nobody is obligated to trade with a hostile regime. Access to American markets is not a right.

We'll have to disagree on your first 2 points.... a POTUS threatening to invade a NATO country, threatening to back Argentina against the UK... all middle of the road stuff for the far right!

Iran still has all its own nuclear material, much may well now be outside the country, they'll be a few countries willing to help with the tech required.... how is the price of petrol going in the USA right now? 😂

Doesn't care about the human cost and neither do you.

Do you ever get tired of lying?

He was not a Trump supporter. His family and friends were, but it was noted he was ‘quiet’ and never talked politics. The Epstein thing did apparently radicalize him tho

I am not lying.

I bet in your eyes he is a 'leftie'

Agree. I don’t think those who decide these things really have any choice.

KC will have his own security people there as well, if security is the worry.

I am very surprised that the visit is going ahead.
It is the perfect opportunity for both to cancel. Trump will be set out to adore the King but slam the uk government, it’ll be interesting to see how King Charles will react?

Yet the most extreme violence seen in Europe was from the Nazi's, KR had ideology centred on Marxism yet its killing methods were more akin to what the far right has done....

UK had an MP murdered by a far right extremist.

Perhaps its better to say that any form of extremism usually leads to violence?

You ve a POTUS who is by any measure right wing, he has used violence to do what he wants, bullies countries and individuals.... I feel like if 3 people have tried to off you it’s probably a sign you’re being a bit of a dick.

Surprised the King is still attending tbf, I mean the stuff he has said about the UK alone would be enough for them to decline.

As an alternative theory, going by the many responses in this thread that seem to be glad of the attack and disappointed that it failed, is that maybe just maybe there are people out that actually want to try and kill Trump, and that this individual was such a person.

Seems a bit more plausible than Trump recruiting organising a "cohort of vulnerable young men" and then persuading them to attempt a fake assassination attempt on Trump where they are at a real risk of being killed- all in the name of patriotism .

Despite this it seems that there are still large numbers of people who do believe that Trump and his administration indeed spend their time recruiting vulnerable people for fake assassination attempts, presumably they believe this or "know" this because they are are so much better "informed" or know more than the rest of us. Or it could be that they are simply weird conspiracy theorists.

No i don't think they recruit people to try and "kill" him...

IF there is an inside job, its that they create the circumstances to enable an attempt, knowing that they can keep Trump safe, were they already aware of this threat?

This guy was allowed to come n go from the Hotel with very little security, Sky reporters say they were never searched (neither was anyone else) getting into the perimeter of the Hotel....

You'd have though after 2 or 3 failed attempts, security around Trump would be extremely tight but it doesn't appear to be....

& why the note? the sort of thing you might give him if Trump's limo was about to get a parking ticket.

Do you think Epstein's death was all above board..... & just a remarkable coincidence.

I'm posting from Canada.

Care to try to convince me that Iran presents the more immediate threat than the US?

But even from a UK perspective, you're posting about how the US's actions in Iran could potentially make the UK more vulnerable to terrorism.

And I don't recall Iran making threats on the Falklands or on invading EU/NATO countries.

Starmer's "very special letter" with the invite for the state visit, and Charles being sent out there now (admist a pattern of insults and threats from the US), show just how much of a threat to the UK the US is believed to be, under Trump.

Edited

i admit I didn’t really care about Iran either way, would have preferred Trump focus on mass deportations and solidifying his agenda in Congress than pick a fight with Iran.

But having relocated to the Gulf (maybe not long term LOL), Iran fucking sucks. Why would you attack your neighbors, for literally no reason? Not just military bases, but civilian infrastructure too?

Yeah, they shouldn’t have nuclear weapons

I don't know where you're getting the figure of 11-12 million deaths at the hands of Hitler from, but it's far too low. Estimates of as many as 17 million deaths directly attributed to the Nazis are frequently cited (e.g. by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum) and that's before you look at total deaths as a result of WW2, frequently estimated at between 70 million and 85 million.

Extremely timely imo, as a court just ruled that Trump would require congressional approval and ordered the above ground construction halted.

The MAGA (what little that's left of them) "Paytriots" all got their botted talking points and repeated them like the clapping seals that they are 😉😄

I ain't a lawyer, but I am sure Trump and his MAGA pals are wrong about the WH ballroom. It is Federal property ( or will be), so the Hatch act will apply. And that says federal property and staff can't be used for partisan politics. And given that the WH correspondents are not part of Government, would they even be able to use Fed property for what is a private political function?

I am thinking "look ahead" here. What would the repubs say if the next Dem POTUS used the ballroom for such a private function ?

Article attached gives examples of when the Biden admin were said to have broken it.
