Things people do that baffle you 2

Just to add to this one. My child was diagnosed with a serious, life-limiting condition at the 20-week scan. My faith really helped me through, and for the first few years of their life, we spent many months in the hospital, including operations. Big, scary hours long ones. My faith helped me feel like, "Well, why not me?" versus "Why me?"

People who tell everyone every intimate detail of their lives/relationships then complain that everyone knows their information or complain about all the drama in their lives.

Then say, "Well, it's okay for you. You have no issues or drama in life..."

Yes, I do. I just don't talk about it to all and sundry.

Praying to God to help with a tragic disease, accident or twist of fate that God must have let them have in first place. (Childhood brain tumour, fatal drunk driver accident etc)

So all these annoying oldies arent harassing you then

Why is this a problem?

With regards to old people shopping on a Saturday I have worked in retail for a long time and early Saturday mornings are pretty dead as most people don’t even get out of the house until 10-11.
If you want peace and quiet while shopping then you should try Saturday morning at 9am (with the early bird older shoppers).

I distinctly remember being a young teen and considering it. I was maybe about 15 years old, not particularly popular, and really trying to fit in and find my group. I remember thinking "I would be so cool if I smoked. I could just go home now, pick up my mum's cigarettes, practice a bit, and start smoking. I'd fit in and have more friends".
I never did it in the end. Which is lucky because it wouldn't have made me cooler, it would have just drained my wallet and ruined my health. Probably forever.
But I can totally see how people start.
Why adults start is a bit of a mystery to me though.

Because no-one believes it'll happen to them. I used to work on a product that was in late-stage development for non small cell lung cancer (about 80% of non small cell lung cancers are caused by smoking). I'd attend international advisory board meetings, listen to the world's leading lung cancer experts talking about survival statistics (grim), and watch the clients all legging it outdoors for a fag during the coffee breaks.

Mothers who post every detail of their kids' lives on social media. WTF are they thinking? I'm sure 18-year old Stanley is going to absolutely love knowing that photos of him taking his first shit in a potty are on the internet forever.

Use bicycle bells in the park to get you out of their way.

my PIL only went shopping on a Saturday as they believed the supermarkets were basically empty of food the rest of the week. They used to get really upset with me going on a weekday night ‘but there won’t be any food.’

my NDN son in law regularly just parks/leaves his car in rhe middle of the street, stops to chat to someone blocking the road. Plenty of room to put his car either side but no, middle of the road. He even goes inside the house. So someone will have to honk their horn and he will come out and have a massive strop about ‘only being a minute’. He will then park his car properly, and go inside for hours. Does it all the time.

🤣 Everything needs a home! Can't understand how he hasn't learned this lesson in all his years! I was so disorganised as a child but figured out life was soooo much easier if I just mindfully put objects back where they live. My husband seems determined not to learn this lesson and pull me into the chaos! 🙈

I think it still could be a social issue - if you don't see many people apart from your spouse I can understand why you'd like to go to a busy place. It's the connection to wider society.

Oh that does happen as well people will come in and have a natter with strangers and it's usually a him that's been left at home

People who park on pavements and think that because they pull their wing mirrors in or leave the hazard lights on that makes it OK.

I completely agree! There’s numerous cars near me that does this continuously. However this is the main culprit.

People who post self pitying and passive aggressive stuff on social media. Pictures of their children in hospital or long detailed screeds about “certain people who do x…” followed by a long and highly identifiable anecdote about another person who has pissed them off.

People who get stressy about confirming social stuff way ahead of time and badger you for irrelevant information. Eg asking you in April if you are going to be getting the bus to a birthday party in September. Fuck off, I will get to it when I can, stop hassling me.

On the other hand, I, an evil boomer, avoid places like Tesco like the plague at the weekend or 4pm-ish not to be nice to the busy people who have to shop then but because I really don't want to have to dodge the family-outing shoppers cluttering the place up!

Taking up smoking. With all that we know now, why does anyone think that this would be a good idea? It baffles me further that two of the most intelligent women I know are smokers. One is the same age as me (44) and the other is a few years younger, so both would have known about the health risks and other drawbacks before they started.

Sounds like my late OH! He was forever looking for his wallet, phone, Swiss Army knife even the remote control for the TV, he would have these items in his hand when he moved somewhere and take it with him, the remote control was often next to the kettle! Oddly since he died 6 years ago the Swiss Army knife, that I find very useful, has always been on the same place when not being used.

And people may also want to speak to someone other than the same person they see every day and have spent the last forty years with.

Sometimes they don't have that many alternatives. I would never want to do it, but I get it.
Also, watch the adverts and how they market themselves to young men without careers.

I beg to differ through voluntary work I meet a lot of elderly people with no one.
So because you see elderly couples you don't think loneliness is an issue🤯

I can't believe all this anti old people shopping bollocks. Its so entitled and self important to think only 'busy' people should shop when they want.
