Could Zack Polanski be any more of an obnoxious twat?

Just seen him saying this:

'I am concerned about the rise in antisemitism and we know Jewish communities are saying they feel unsafe. There is a conversation to be had over whether it's a perception that they feel unsafe or whether they are actually unsafe.'

WTAF? Can you imagine if a politician said that to Muslims after a series of absolutely awful targeted attacks where people have died?

Has anyone noticed how ZP’s supporters present either empty soundbites or complete misinformation they’re clearly parroting from social media and don’t appear capable of critical thinking, They seem to have no knowledge of world history or international politics which is why they’re incapable of actually debating the matter at hand.

it seems that many people are incapable of critical thinking, that their thinking is black and white. What has happened to people? This is a real problem with society, humans being programmed into binary thinking are easy to control! It’s dystopian

I don't get what's wrong with it, especially as Polanski, as a Jewish man, will be well-versed on what it's like to be on the receiving end of anti-Semitism. We are seeing the term 'anti-Semitism' being weaponised all the time. To criticise Israel for its treatment of the Palestinians and its constant breaking of international law is not anti-Semitic, but a lot of people (and a fair number of political chancers who are worried about Polanski's popularity) are saying just this.

Anti-Semitism is vile and Polanski has never said different. Being anti-Israeli policies and behaviour and anti-extreme Zionism is not anti-Semitic.

Polanski is that rare animal - an honest politician. Welcome him.

I would invite you to read the following about the Association of German National Jews who supported Hitler throughout the 20s and 30s, who thought Hitlers antisemitism was purely rhetoric. Polenski is in that position purely to confuse those with no knowledge of history and incapable of understanding the concept of paradox. Anyone capable of those two things will see straight through ZP. it’s like watching history repeat itself!

Well according to the International Court of Justice they are.

This is misinformation: the case being considered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) hasn’t reached a conclusion yet and probably won’t for several years.

You are getting confused with the opinions of a United Nations commission of enquiry made up of 3 people.

The UN themselves acknowledge that they cannot make a legal determination as to whether a situation constitutes genocide under international law. It says a situation is referred to as genocide only after a competent national or international court has declared it as such.

When asked by journalists if he would consider using the word genocide to describe Israel’s actions in Gaza, UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk said, “It’s for the court to decide whether it’s genocide or not, and we see the evidence mounting”.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is currently hearing a case bought by South Africa that accuses Israeli forces of genocide but it could take several years to reach a conclusion.

Did Iran attack Israel? No, Israel bombed them last year as a ‘preemptive strike’ and then again this year, for what reason?

Israel has nuclear weapons, Iran doesn’t. Israel has bombed Iran with no provocation for the last 2 years. Israel is now invading Lebanon and seizing land, slaughtering civilians as they go.

But it’s OK, because it’s Israel and we’re not allowed to criticise Israel. They’re committing genocide, they’ve attacked every single one of their neighbouring countries, but you don’t want to admit that Israel is the problem here. Give it a rest.

Of course you can criticise Israel as you have done. Nothing awful will happen to you. People will correct some of the errors you have posted though.

Eg.... Israel haven't attacked every single one of their neighbours. That claim is rubbish. They have good relations with Egypt and Jordan. Neither of those countries want to help Palestinian refugees, Jordan previously did help and they were repaid by the Palestinians causing mayhem in Jordan. Dig deeper into history, get past the soundbites and actually learn about the history. Are you also not aware that hezbollah, based in Lebanon have been attacking Israel for years. The government of Lebanon cannot control the terrorist organisation within it's country. They did condemn Hezbollah for continuing attacks on Israel but cannot stop them. Like Hamas, Hezbollah are Iranian proxies, they do no good for anyone.

DeposedPresident · 01/05/2026 18:55

Apparently 21 countries declare themselves to be Christian states. Including some who are in war right now (cough cough- the US).

Apparently 57 countries identify themselves as being Muslim states.

Is every Christian responsible for then actions of every Christian state? Or every Muslim?

There is ONE Jewish state. One. yet apparently every Jewish person in the world has to have a view, has to pass a Zionist purity test and is fair game for harm.

Critical thinking seems utterly absent. I'd honestly be embarrassed to be some of these posters.

🤣 is this a joke post?

You don't get whats wrong with him. Even he had to grovel an apology today over his latest blundering.

Have you not seen his candidates were arrested? Its not pretend antisemitism, it is antisemitism. When one of his candidates says October 7th, a huge terrorist attack, was 'revenge' you must realise there is a problem. People who post stuff like that aren't fit to represent the country with all its citizens.

Nothing wrong with criticism of Israel or the IDF. Encouragement of hatred here really doesn't help. Jewish people here are not responsible for Gaza, do you need reminding of that? PS His family have distanced themselves from him, its is possible to excuse or minimise antisemitism and also be Jewish. He's just a grifter. He doesn't appear to think before tweeting his thoughts, thankfully he realised what a twat he was and apologised for some of his nonsense today. He needs to look at the candidates proposing to stand for his party.

DeposedPresident · 01/05/2026 18:48

More to the point- do you believe that Jewish people in a completely different country who have no influence over the Government of an entirely different country should be allowed to live their lives in peace and without the threat of harm, and death?

What's your stance on other religious groups and their culpibility for the actions of foreign states?

What is extreme zionism?

Do you believe that Israelis have a right to be in Israel and that Israel itself has a right to exist?

*They are trying their best to pretend they don't mind or haven't noticed the blue haired trans contingent and the gay men in S&M gear at all the rallies8

Very true, @HeadDeskHeadDesk, but on the offchance they get many people elected it would certainly be fun watching them fighting like cats in a sack over who "should" be representing the party and who's considered unacceptable

5MinuteArgument · 01/05/2026 18:12

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 01/05/2026 17:59

Sadly I don't think he will. The people who are going to vote Green agree with him on that subject. They are of the opinion that the police are always in the wrong and should be defunded anyway, and anyone doing/saying anything horribly antisemetic is simply fighting the good fight for Gaza.

Lots of them are only going to vote Green simply because they align over Gaza. The Muslim contingent have dumped the Labour party and moved to the Greens on this issue alone. They are trying their best to pretend they don't mind or haven't noticed the blue haired trans contingent and the gay men in S&M gear at all the rallies.

Yes, you may be right. We will see at the local elections coming up.

Perhaps the only positive is being able to watch the unravelling of the alliance between the Muslim faction and the trendy-lefty-trans brigade!

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 01/05/2026 17:59

5MinuteArgument · 01/05/2026 17:46

Hopefully the Greens might lose a few votes after the appalling comments which Polanski retweeted criticising the police who tackled the Golders Green attacker. That really was an own goal.

Unfortunately there's a subset of the type of people Polanski appeals to who want exactly that, and clearly he's hoping there are enough of them to translate to electoral success

For obvious reasons I'm hoping he's wrong, but time will tell - and if they do actually do well we'll have a bigger problem than I thought

Hopefully, people will realise that before they pop their X down. Do we really want more hatred, more terrorist attacks, more marches that do nothing for the people they say they are marching for, more chanting idiots on the streets every single weekend.

It’s nothing to do with the Greens. All it is is deflection and whataboutery.

What’s the purpose of the deflection, in your eyes? Are you thinking there’s only a binary choice between Greens and Reform? If so, why?

Are you uncomfortable with the Greens being criticised and feel you can’t stand that, so have to deflect elsewhere? If so, why?

If you want to start a thread about Reform nobody will stop you and there will be ample talking fodder and I expect ioh’ll get lots of engagement.

But this deflecting doesn’t work here.
