Could Zack Polanski be any more of an obnoxious twat?

Just seen him saying this:

'I am concerned about the rise in antisemitism and we know Jewish communities are saying they feel unsafe. There is a conversation to be had over whether it's a perception that they feel unsafe or whether they are actually unsafe.'

WTAF? Can you imagine if a politician said that to Muslims after a series of absolutely awful targeted attacks where people have died?

Ive got no time for him due to his TWAW stance but how much more racist can you get 'he's not Jewish enough'

And you're complaining he is antisemitic!!!!!

Nonsense.

If it’s impossible for him to be antisemitism because he’s proclaimed himself Jewish. Then by the same vein I have the same right as Polanski to claim protection of anti semitism because by yours and Polanski standards my partners also Jewish. And my children half Jewish.

To non religious people he is of Jewish heritage. He’s only Jewish because you are Jewish by birthright on the maternal line. But if you don’t practice Judaism as a religion then why are following this principle.

Thats what I am saying. It’s different imo. My partner has the same story. His grandparents came over in the war. His mother did not practice and he grew up in a non Jewish house. He does not practice. Neither does Polanski apparently. So whilst technically he is ‘Jewish’, my partner does not identify as Jewish - because that’s quite a stretch or in his words ‘nonsense’. And it’s not his place to make statement or judge levels of antisemitism because that is not something he has ever experienced in the U.K. due to not being actively Jewish.

PropertyD · 23/04/2026 22:48

Who is supporting them. And voting for them! Is it our young people, Muslim communities? Can someone explain?

wahwahwoo · 23/04/2026 22:45

Blahblahblahabla · 23/04/2026 19:27

Well I am just going to come out and say it because there’s no point beating round the bush.

Hes as Jewish as my partner. Literally surprisingly mirror story which is quite incredible.

And I just going to say it. Whilst technically Jewish it’s also not. And certainly not Jewish enough to be making statements like this.

And do I feel like I can say that. Yes having lived with someone for a decade and a half of the exact same background, age and religious practice.

Anti-Semitic comment. You don’t get to decide which Jews are Jewish enough for you. He is Jewish whether you agree with him or not.

Does Polanski imagine that by saying these things he will somehow be exempt from antisemitism, or would never be a target? It's really very strange.

I’m Jewish and it’s fucking frustrating that Zack Polanski and a few other hard left Jews say these things, and then there’s understandably a perception that it’s relatively common for Jews to be anti Zionist / anti semitic to this extent. It then legitimises expression of these views amongst other who then justify their prejudices by saying ‘some Jews think this as well so I can’t possibly be anti Semitic’.

Amongst all the Jews I know there are a huge range of views on Israel, Palestine, Zionism, anti Semitism etc. But no one who thinks or says the things Polanski is saying.

I can understand why you feel like this.

Love him.

He comes across as real.

Far less bullshit than other political leaders.

And he's CLEARLY a million times better human than that lying, frog faced Nazi Farage!

No you don't love him. Possibly you love his image, God knows why, but fools on the right seemed to love the 'real' Boris Johnson and fools on the left somehow seems to love the 'real' Polanski.

BurtsBeefCrisps · 23/04/2026 21:32

The Green party are awful, I’ve always felt this but live in one of those MC left, hippy areas where they now run the council and many vote for them in a virtual signalling way because bluntly their friends do and they are well off enough for it not to impact them if they split the vote and Reform get in.
I wonder how Caroline Lucas feels as she was well respected and liked.
Nothing surprises me, I’ve seen them lie and play dirty locally, and honestly feel like they don’t live in the real world and are entitled and smug! I knew he’d dig his own grave, he’s clueless on economics!

Maybe read the full comment not just the first sentence.

Polanski said: “I am concerned about the rising antisemitic attacks. We saw arson attacks on ambulances for instance, and we know that increasingly Jewish communities are feeling unsafe.

“Now, there’s a conversation to be had about whether it’s a perception of unsafety or whether it’s actual unsafety, but neither are acceptable. As a politician, as a leader of a political party, it’s really important that we do everything we can to make sure people are both physically safe and have a perception of safety. And it’s unacceptable for anyone in this country to be feeling unsafe if they’re just going about their daily business.”

Polanski then added: “More widely, I would say that the perception of antisemitism, though, I know I’ve answered several times today, but I see is an increasingly weaponised, cynical political attack from the Labour Party.

“Now that doesn’t mean that I don’t take antisemitism seriously. In fact, the opposite – I do take antisemitism seriously, and part of taking it seriously is recognising it needs to be dealt with compassion and care and nuance, and we need to be level-headed about these conversations.

“For the Labour Party to wait until the daily election started, to start accusing candidates of being antisemitic shows me the opposite of that; that’s a deeply unserious commitment to actually dealing with a serious issue, and instead, the weaponisation of a political attack, which I think is really, really unhelpful and unhealthy.”

Thank you for sharing this!

It's good to have the full context.

He's trying to minimise rising antisemitism because he doesn't want the blame for it. He's disgusting.

He shouldn't even be suggesting that being unsafe might be merely a perception. Given what's happened recently it's completely dismissive, patronising and disengenuous.

Well that doesn’t work with just “any politician”.

I don’t think any politician could say that about Muslims but equally I don’t think any politician could say what Polanski did.

He’s Jewish which is actually important as to whether he gets any pushback on this. People get away with saying stuff about their “own community” that outsiders don’t.

And your Reform comment doesn’t work for that reason. You cannot simply brush Polanski’s ethnicity. I think a Muslim politician could easily absolutely say this about Muslims and not get as much backlash as a non-muslim saying the same thing.

Edited

I agree.

I voted for them once. I certainly would not now. They are absolute cranks. How often do they actually talk about the environment.

Well yes, exactly.
I worry that people will vote for them thinking that they're voting for the old Green Party.

AccordingToWhom · 23/04/2026 21:06

WaffleBomb · 23/04/2026 21:00

I have never voted for them, but quite liked the old Green Party.
The current lot are a disgrace. They need to change their name.

ZP is dangerous.
There have been loads of stories like this, many posted on this thread. Yet support for the Greens is growing.

I can’t stand the bloke but im not sure his comment is completely invalid. By what measure are we scaling ‘unsafe?’ Are they more unsafe here than Israel? More unsafe than the rest of Europe? More unsafe here than in Saudi Arabia? I suspect he might be suggesting that Jewish people are no more unsafe than other minority groups.

phoneisoff · 23/04/2026 20:45

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 23/04/2026 19:17

No, I mean any politician. But since he's anti-zionist, let's use a Reform politican as a comparison. Can you imagine a Reform politician suggesting to Muslims that it's basically their imagination that they feel unsafe, after a series of stabbings, firebombings and other targeted attacks aimed very specifically at mosques and at innocent Muslims, just going about their business?

Reform usually just say Muslims are scum and should all be deported.

Ablushingcrow · 23/04/2026 20:44

I despise the little scrote. Makes my skin crawl.

MeridaBrave · 23/04/2026 20:41

I mean. Last week a synagogue near me had an arson attack. I’m not visibly Jewish but yes - risk of going to the synagogue or a kosher shop. And he is Jewish himself from the same part of Manchester where the Yom Kippur stabbing was… and so…
