What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done?

I’m in a reflective mood, and it’s got me thinking about something I did a few years ago which is probably the thing I’m most deeply ashamed of.

There was a coworker who really rubbed me up the wrong way. I was very unhappy at the time, and going through an awful time personally. She would make snide comments about me, do things with my family members (who were colleagues too) which really got my back up, I felt like she judged me harshly and was pretty rude. Along with another colleague they made three or four very nasty comments which still stick with me.

Instead of raising a grievance, which I should have done, I took to posting about her on another website (along the lines of Mumsnet), not realising she used it too. She saw the posts and reported me, and I ended up facing a meeting with HR and a senior partner of the firm I was working in. It damaged my reputation within the firm forever and I ended up leaving after not being offered a promotion. I still feel ashamed of it now, nearly half a decade on, and feel like it’s tarred me forever.

Whats the worst thing you’ve ever done?

Was my friend’s husband’s exit affair.

ZiggyZowie · 20/04/2026 22:43

So many. Aged 14 I used to get followed by men in cars when walking my dog early evening. I got in the car with one and we had some heavy petting. Then went home .

I used to steal a lot too .

Got into fights .

Not proud of it.

Imacelebritygotit · 20/04/2026 22:42

When I was 6 there used this very mean lady in our building. I don’t remember why I so strongly disliked her but I just remember she was extremely unpleasant and would yell and be all rude for no reason

anyway we were moving abroad and were supposed to be leaving next day.

I was walking past her flat and see a suitcase. I dont remember what it was doing there, maybe drying?

so I think this lady needs to be punished. I remember hearing her to someone that it was expensive. I’m leaving tomorrow so who cares.

this is the perfect opportunity.

so I steal her suitcase. Make sure no one sees me.

hide this suitcase few floors down under some plants

enjoy watching her all upset and panic

plan kind of backfired though because she began accusing random neighbours of stealing it and screaming at them. Keeps shouting that suitcase costs more than your life!!!

I didn’t want innocent people to take blame so when she went inside I guess to call police? I quickly and quietly brought it back and put it back where it was

she was very confused

When I was younger, about 13/14, I still think about it to this day. One of my best mates, we got on fantastically but sometimes he’d really wind me up, and this one particular day he’d been winding me up all day, like I mean non stop, anyway we were out with 2 other mates and he just wouldn’t leave up, non stop and then he said something about my ex bf who was my other boy best mate and I just lost it and said to him, ‘At least my mum didn’t have a miscarriage’ I still remember the look on his face, our other friends hadn’t known, I instantly regretted it. He didn’t talk to me for about a week, even after I’d apologised empteen times. One of my biggest regrets, I have no idea why I even said it. We were back to normal after we made up but I often think about it and it actually makes me cringe.

cadburyegg · 20/04/2026 22:40

Following on with the theme, I peed in a nappy once. We were stuck in a traffic jam and I was desperate. I don’t think it was the worst thing though, I actually thought it was ingenious

TeaAndSymumthy · 20/04/2026 22:40

I went through a phase of being a bully at school to impress and stay in with the popular kids group.

I didn’t do anything especially nasty or physical, but generally being a bitch and acting like I was too good to speak to or be associated with the ‘unpopular’ kids.

I had a quick hard reality check when a new boy came to school with bandaged wrists after being bullied at a previous school and it makes and will always make me feel extremely uncomfortable with myself when I reflect back on my time as a bully. I ended up making a few apologies, drifted from my friendship group and became very ‘middle man’. I can’t change my previous actions and it haunts me. I have a daughter now and the thought of her being nasty to any of her peers makes my stomach churn.

pepayfelix · 20/04/2026 22:37

Took drugs, had sex with people I shouldn’t have had sex with, racked up debt, told loads of stupid lies, was cruel when I could have been kind. I am not proud of any of these things but I do forgive myself and I try to be a much better person now. I wasn’t in a good place and I’ve learnt from it.

Wonkyspecs · 20/04/2026 22:36

It's not the worst (I will take those ones to the grave!)
My ex went out to buy nappies...rocked on back with no nappies but a brand new pair of timberland boots and designer cargo jeans. I was livid as we were skint!
Cue me....mad as he'll!! Chucked one of the boots down the rubbish chute and cut a leg off his new jeans. That was the worst thing I did because I should have returned them or even just donated them to charity...I regret the waste!!!

It seems all you have to do is shit yourself or shit in a bag and you can join the club.

Who knew that would be a common theme?

Hallamlass · 20/04/2026 22:34

cheekynamechang3 · 20/04/2026 22:30

you could have just turned the shower on and done the poo in the toilet. The shower would have masked the poo noises.

Absolutely. Another thing to do is to flush the toilet before you start, then the noise covers the pooing, wait for it to finish, and flush again. Use a cleaning product/air freshener and open the window.

I've done worse.....
New BF house, stayed over for first time. Desperately needed a poo and bathroom right next to bedroom so would have heard/smelt it. I was too embarrassed just in case he heard me (IBS so would have been a splatty, farty one!) so i told him I was going to have a quick shower and I pooped in the shower and pushed it down the plug hole...... 🙈🙈🙈

cadburyegg · 20/04/2026 22:30

Oh in a house share once one of our housemates was pissing us off so me & my partner in crime poured her lactose free milk down the sink (she was lactose intolerant) and refilled the carton with cows milk. I was diagnosed with coeliac a year later - definitely got my come uppance

HorsesForMorses · 20/04/2026 22:30

Oh also - sent an anonymous email to a previous employer slagging them off in an unnecessarily personal way. I was a dick in my 20s.

Imacelebritygotit · 20/04/2026 22:30

Another time I knew this very nasty guy. Too long to explain the stuff he did. But trust me, awful guy. Beat his gf, etc

but I also had this phone number

i went to public toilets and left note saying

“send me pics of ur poop, best poop gets 10 pounds”

I went on some gay chat websites and posted his number saying contact for good time”

I then also made fake Facebook account with his name and photo. Joined some Facebook groups and other places and began riling people up.

posting some very controversial stuff. Women’s rights etc

Just example: saying women should be slaves, they are worthless, have their rights taken away, on pro trump accounts badmouthing trump supporters

When everyone was furious I then had another dummy account saying guys!!! I doxxed this guy, this is his phone number!!! Give him a piece of mind

now I’m sure all this was highly illegal but I was a dumb teen

HorsesForMorses · 20/04/2026 22:29

Shoplifted.

Took part in teasing a younger child at primary school.

Damaged someone's gatepost with my car (though did later anonymously send them £150 which I hope was enough to repair).

Stole from my mum's purse when a teenager.

Lied about pointless shit.

Said something to a couple in a bar when I was drunk that I was too drunk to remember saying but which must have been bad because the barman told me to apologise or leave.

When wildly drunk in a friend's flat, threw kitchen utensils and pans out of his window at a group of annoying teenagers 9 storeys below. This is the worst one. I could have killed a kid with a pan, and also my friend couldn't make a meal for weeks afterwards.

Allseeingallknowing · 20/04/2026 21:19

That was so mean and cruel. He must be twisted

Weirdly, no. He's not. Just very misguided on this one instance. I have a feeling it was his girlfriend's idea as most of the cards went to friends of hers.

I would be so upset to have received one of these. The instant feeling of finally some financial relief only to realise it was a cruel joke would have broken me.

agree. I'd never do this to someone, it's just not funny.

Same. All these ‘I ran over a rabbit, I slept with a married man, I wet the bed, I shoplifted some White Musk from the Body Shop’ were just weekly occurrences in the 90s. I thought I was quite a boring person until I read this thread.

I’m sure we’ll all be super impressed!

SurvivalInstinctsOfABakedPotato · 20/04/2026 20:23

Oh do they?! I've felt awful about that for years thinking about it's little scared paws trying to dig it's way out and I just put it in the wardrobe!

It’s an instinctive/survival thing. They are prey animals. So if one can sense another one is dying/ill or has already died they eat it so the body doesn’t smell and draw the attention of predators. It isn’t malicious.

What have I just read! Please tell me this was a medical necessity and not a fetish!

My DS (now nearly 13) was still very young, less than a year old.
He was a terrible sleeper, and I mean really bad. He would sleep for maybe an hour, or even half hour at a time. My DH and I were both on the verge of breakdowns. We were honestly quite mentally unwell.
It was during the day, and I had managed to get him down to sleep on his cot in his bedroom upstairs. At the time, we lived in a tiny two-up two-down with creaky stairs, with the bathroom at the top of the stairs. I got downstairs and I suddenly needed to poo. I absolutely could not bring myself to risk creeping back up the creaky stairs and risk waking him. I needed even just a few minutes so desperately. So I grabbed one of his clean nappies, squatted in my kitchen and pooed in it. Then I used a babywipe on myself, put it all in a nappy bag and took it outside with the other nappies. Never told my DH.
Wasn't my finest moment but people do fucked up things when they are sleep deprived sometimes. It would be embarrassing for anyone in RL to know, but it's not the worst I could have done!

Absolutely nothing that has been said so far is remotely close to the worst thing I’ve done so I’m keeping 🤐

Imacelebritygotit · 20/04/2026 22:13

I had this very, very nasty horrible woman’s who treated people horribly phone number. she said something very cruel to a family member

so I signed her up to bunch of spam online. Insurance things. Spam calls, texts

her husband once mentioned how she is very afraid of death/funerals.

so I also signed her up to a bunch of funeral call back services

I see your 2 men and raise you one man and one woman (separately) on the same day. I wish that was the worst thing I'd done in my life...

All consenting adults?
