To think south of France beach clubs have ruined DH

Now he’s acting like a spoilt baby
Saying he won’t go to a normal beach and sit on a towel on the sand and he will only go somewhere he has a sunbed, a proper one

so now I’m trying to find places with beach clubs that are reasonable for this summer

any ideas ? don’t want to go to south of France again

I find that beach clubs are full of tossers. Prefer a beach in the middle of nowhere. Packed lunch. Piss in the sea.

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 14:54

He says he like it with a proper sunbed ideally with padding

and he likes getting his drink in a proper glass with ice and also being able to go to nice toilets without queueing

and having food brought over and music

.

Is this some sort of weird flex?

You can't work out how to parent him about this without coming on a forum?

Where? Where are you wanting to be? I could name you a dozen, but they would need different flights .

YABU

Why should OP have to work out how to parent her husband?

Gillthepill · 18/04/2026 23:01

A beach club is somewhere like the Blue Marlin in Ibiza. Posh sunbeds, nice pool, food and drinks service, private bit of beach and DJ.

HaveCreditWillShop · 18/04/2026 22:49

Dalmationday · 18/04/2026 21:41

I think you (and others) might not have been anywhere posh enough to know what OP is talking about!

This still isn’t the same as a beach club.

Guys, they aren’t talking about the thatched parasols and the wisened old beach dude with a bumbag who comes round to take your euros 😆

Theyre talking about beach clubs like in Cannes, Italy etc - although to be honest the best ones are in far east Asia in my opinion. In Cannes, Nice etc you can get drinks and snacks brought to you and a reasonable DJ but that’s about it - you get full service in places like Bali, Thailand, Vietnam.

Maraudingmarauders · 18/04/2026 22:47

Italy’s east coast is almost universally covered in beach beds.

HaveCreditWillShop · 18/04/2026 22:41

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 18/04/2026 14:46

Also many beaches on the med have someone who’ll rent loungers.

That’s not the same as a beach club.

FettleOfKish · 18/04/2026 22:06

To be fair I agree with your DH, I hate lying flat on a towel covered in sand, even at home if we’re going to the beach I favour the one with rental loungers. It doesn’t need to be a ££££ private beach club though, plenty of hotels have beach access and loungers, and plenty of beaches have loungers for rent for a few pounds a day.

Lotus3 · 18/04/2026 22:04

I dont have anything particularly valuable to add except, I literally could have written this post myself! Solidarity to you OP, I get the spoilt man baby husband who will only deign to holiday somewhere that you spend €200 a day on a beach club and I'm also bored to tears of Antibes, and the excessive cost!!

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 18/04/2026 21:51

Ive spent ALOT of time in Puglia in the last couple of years, specifically around Fasano in Bari. Shit ton of beach clubs, absolutely loads.

And I too now want to lie on a deckchair and have someone bring me a drink tbh

Sassylovesbooks · 18/04/2026 21:42

We went to Icmeler in Turkiye last year, and there were lots of bars/restaurants on the beach that offered proper sun loungers on the beach. You could order food/drinks to your sun loungers! We also have been to several Greek Islands, where the same is offered. Alternatively, you book a hotel, that has it's own private part of the beach, and has sun loungers etc.

Don’t most beaches across the entire world have some variation of hireable sunbeds? That don’t cost €800 per day?? That would be an insane price that most people just wouldn’t pay.

The most expensive sunbed I ever hired was about £60 per day in Dubai. But we are ginger so we needed the umbrella for shade more than anything. But even that’s a world away from €800 per day! I am baffled by this post.

WellConfusedandDazed · 18/04/2026 21:40

Belgian Coast - De Haan, Ostend, Knokke-Heist all have beach clubs. Of
course the weather is another matter…

Dalmationday · 18/04/2026 21:36

Forte dei Marmi, italy

columnatedruinsdomino · 18/04/2026 21:22

I’m confused. He’s causing a problem and you’re the one trying to sort it out?

TheSquareMile · 18/04/2026 21:05

Would one of the Mark Warner resorts appeal to him?

Girlwithavibe · 18/04/2026 20:27

Sounds lovely where abouts in south of France had these beach clubs op ?
When I went to Kos u can go into beach bars and rent the sunbeds and they serve drinks ect ect they had padding and umbrellas and some have the big beds as well !

blahblonk · 18/04/2026 19:57

Not read the full thread but residence Serenissima in Bibione north Italy and many other places near there have beach clubs included. Bibione great for a cheap family holiday. In Puglia there are also many 30 euro a day lidos which include beach service but need to book ahead.

ZenNudist · 18/04/2026 19:34

First thing I googled is eur 150 per guest on the amalfi coast. It depends if its cheaper to stay elsewhere. Perhaps try the hotel itself?

share.google/BAZUrxtoYQ8Iip2wf

Oh the hilton malta is fabulous and has a beach club. It isn't a sandy beach soil didn't think of it at first. From memory I think it was eur50 per guest if not staying at the hotel. I recommend just staying in the hotel!

Mintchocs · 18/04/2026 19:30

Dont we only have like 4 weeks of jet fuel or something? Not sute now is the best time to book (unless insurance would fully cover you).

He's not talking just sunbed hire, he's talking bar, restaurant ,posh toilet etc.

ZenNudist · 18/04/2026 19:29

I'm sorry OP I don't go to beach clubs. We don't like the beach. Last year we did one day at a northern Spanish beach in August. Paid for loungers and parasols and positioned ourselves near the restaurant for a proper lunch and regular drink breaks.

I think you need to research the good beach clubs then work backwards from there for accommodation and flights.

If you'd just started a thread asking for beach club recommendations you might have got a shorter less entertaining less vicious thread that would actually have helped you.

Presumably you spend more on a beach club and less on a fancy hotel.

Try marbella and flash resorts in sardinia. But its going to cost you.

There are places in the carribean and Mauritius that have waiter service to plush loungers. Europe does seem to go down the route of hire loungers and hopefully have some lovely beach restaurants.

Croatia not great for sandy beaches but does have nice sea-side loungers plus drinks type places. I wonder if that would be any good?

Torchout · 18/04/2026 19:27

Villanellesproudmum · 18/04/2026 15:47

That's just free sunbeds, the actual beach club is a minimum spend, around €100 per person

Franpie · 18/04/2026 19:15

TeddyBearCottage · 18/04/2026 15:04

I just don’t wanna pay 800 euros a day on sunbeds before I even start
as it’s too wasteful

So don’t go to the south of France then!

Go to Spain, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Croatia etc etc.

Every summer, wherever we are, we have at least 1 day at a Beach club and the only places I’ve paid €100+ per bed have been Ibiza and France.

A quick google of hotels in corsica with private beaches brings up this lot - some of the beaches aren't great though so you'd have to look closelyhttps://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/HotelsList-Corsica-Hotels-With-Private-Beach-zfp2963472.html
