To think south of France beach clubs have ruined DH

Now he’s acting like a spoilt baby
Saying he won’t go to a normal beach and sit on a towel on the sand and he will only go somewhere he has a sunbed, a proper one

so now I’m trying to find places with beach clubs that are reasonable for this summer

any ideas ? don’t want to go to south of France again

This cannot be real? I’ve holidayed in Greece, Croatia, Malta and Italy and other places and almost never come across a beach without sun loungers?! ( and not at 100e a day either!) It’s hardly asking for the moon!

LaDamaDeElche · 19/04/2026 20:57

I live in Spain and most beaches, apart from wild beaches and small beaches in random places you probably wouldn’t go to, have sunloungers.

Is this some sort of weird flex?

You can't work out how to parent him about this without coming on a forum?

Where? Where are you wanting to be? I could name you a dozen, but they would need different flights .

What like HO5 V2V2 F, yep it's weird.

If it’s DH making these demands I’d just tell him to do his own research and report back to you when he’s found something that he will deign to accept. We are actually the exact opposite. We like to seek out naturist beaches wherever possible, and they tend to be a bit off the beaten track with no sunbeds, bars or other facilities.

JMSA · 19/04/2026 17:04

I don’t blame him. I’d hate to lie on a towel on the sand. It HAS to be a proper sunlounger.
I thought they were the norm on any touristy beach.

Do you only poo on certain days of the week???

Absolutely not. It’s a daily grail for me!

Betterbyfar · 19/04/2026 14:49

All these suggestions and for all we know - the OP’s budget is £500 pp!

Twilightstarbright · 19/04/2026 14:48

@TeddyBearCottage coral sea Sensatori has lovely padded sunloungers both at the pool and beach, waiter service and spotless toilets. It’s an all inclusive hotel.

Lavender14 · 19/04/2026 11:21

Agree a set budget with him and then make it his responsibility to find something suitable if he's being fussy.

IsThistheMiddleofNowhere · 19/04/2026 09:47

You dont need an actual beachclub. Lots of beachfront hotels have their own sunloungers on the beach or a sunbathing platform on the beach. Hotel Miramar In Puerto Pollensa has this. Lovely hotel in a gorgeous resort. I'm with your husband. Hate putting a towel on the beach. Its like cardboard after a couple of days. Don't think he's acting spoilt at all and like you, I always research our holiday. It's one of my favourite jobs. I'm sure you'll find somewhere lovely. It just doesn't need to be a beach club

How do you work that out??
You do realise you can look on a map and see where the villa is located.....
Ive stayed in one in Lanzarote 5 minutes walk from the beach

I read your post as sunbathing at your villa and using the villa toilet, getting drinks from the villa, swimming in the villa pool away from everyone else (wankers in your words), not sunbathing at a beach five minutes away. Surely that doesn’t help the whole padded lounger at the beach dilemma?

Not so good if you love the beach and swimming in the sea.

To be fair, Club 55 has ruined every other day of my life for me, nothing is ever as nice 😂

Jesus I never knew these were a thing, but having learned what they cost I think you'd be mad to not just get a nice villa with pool. You can then use your very own toilet, use your own glasses and listen to whatever music you like. You won't be surrounded by insufferable wankers either. I hear what you say re 'chemicals', but if you think the Med is nothing but H²O...well I won't burst that bubble.

BackToRealitySigh · 19/04/2026 08:39

Apart from the price and the feeling that i'm not a beach club kind of person....sounds fab!
This might not be sufficiently swish & the beach isn't amazing (but the sea is wonderful as is the village & Corfu town nearby) but i thought these looked lovely last year

Sani beach club in Thessoloniki might suit.

Or the Amalfi cost, plenty of loungers, no much sand. I highly recommend One Fire beach club in Praiano.

babasaclover · 19/04/2026 08:09

I’ve not stayed at a hotel that doesn’t have a private beach in the last 20 years just book a decent hotel with that an go all inclusive so people will bring you drinks to sun lounger 😜

Do you have kids OP? How old.are they? This makes a massive difference surely...

witte · 19/04/2026 07:51

Literally all of the hotels we’ve been to in the last ten years in Europe have had this. Only place we’ve layed on sand in recent years is Bondi.

Just pick a proper 5 * hotel

TroysMammy · 19/04/2026 07:40

I went to Tunisia and there were sun loungers for hire on the beach directly in front of the hotel. Quite cheap but my tight arse boyfriend at the time wouldn't pay.

Are you paying to go abroad to lay on a sun longer and do nothing else?

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 19/04/2026 07:33

OP if you don’t want to lower the holiday quality for the beach club requirement - and if you have dcs don’t want to be limited to a day at the beach because it’s been paid for etc- look for hotels with private beach and a beach bar. Loads in Turkey, go on a travel agents website and search for luxury hotels in Turkey for families.

He’s on the garage roof as we speak….

Wow, what a prince. Immediately pander to his every need.
