My DSis had my wonderful DN 23 years ago with donor sperm. Both she & BIL have no intention of telling DNiece at all, as 'Her dad is her dad & it won't change that'. Well, yes, but i think she should know. She's training to be a doctor, so I wonder if she'll work it out somehow via medical information as BIL gets older. They're super close & it bothers me she doesn't know.

How would she work it out

assume they used the same blood group for donor sperm

StrandedStarfish · 09/04/2026 08:02

My SIL realised that her dad wasn’t her biological father through a school project on blood. She asked her parents what blood group they were, and years later when she was pregnant found her blood group matched neither of them.

Your sister is a horrible person.
I don't know how she can live with herself.

So is the Dad. Takes 2.

Tooconfused12 · 09/04/2026 07:55

@WhatTheHellsGoingOn

Weirdly this conjures up images of a colossal disembodied vulva approaching through the urban landscape and ppl fleeing for their lives!

🤣🤣🤣

my mums famous home made steak pie that she’s often asked to bring to extended family gatherings is actually from the local butchers. She buys it and very carefully transfers it to her own pie dishes 😂

Brilliant!!

If you ever seem him out exercising, do you have the temptation to shout "Domino-ooh-ooh"?

😆

My sister’s son is the result of a long running affair with her business partner. Both of them are married. Neither spouse knows. She often takes her son to meet her business partner and his children in the park.

I would hate to know that! I do not think I could live with the guilt of the pain for the child and who he thinks his father is.

Pebblesonthebleach · 08/04/2026 23:15

Guy across the road is a real fitness fanatic, as is his wife. But every Wednesday afternoon, without fail, Dominos turns up with two large pizzas when I know he’s home alone, working. A few hours later, he emerges with the boxes and puts them in the bin, having polished off the lot. His wife is non the wiser.

If you ever seem him out exercising, do you have the temptation to shout "Domino-ooh-ooh"?

Crazyfrog44 · 09/04/2026 07:32

My colleague's father is not his father. The father was affair partner and the colleague as a child was regularly wheeled out to be shown off. AP also paid all private school fees. Not sure how the mother explained that away!

I work in a role that requires me to monitor and audit ICT use and storage etc. I was drafted in to do some searches related to an HR investigation about bullying by a director.

I didn't find evidence of bullying, but I did find the director's creative writing that he was doing on work time.

Oh and I know someone who went off on extended sick leave for ‘mental health’ just because they hate the job. They’re currently travelling and relaxing, on full pay. They plan to exhaust the 12 weeks of paid medical leave, return for a couple of weeks around the July 4th holiday when it’s pretty quiet, take 2 weeks of annual leave then hand their notice in and not do any work in their 2 month notice period. So basically get paid for doing nothing for a total of 6 months. All planned out.

I normally don’t support this kind of piss-taking but this workplace DESERVES it. 🙂

Is that in the US, since you mention the 4th July holiday?

Is it religion related? If so, what religion?

Mormon?
Ignore this. Seen the update.

Eww that's seedy. Hitting on the nursery staff while your child is right there?!

No - my friend temped at a place HE worked last summer, when he was trying it on. He has a very unusual name, his daughter also. He will not be aware that my friend is starting work at the Dagis on Monday.

Sorry this one just doesn’t sound plausible to me. An ostensibly straight guy had an outdoor trans-threesome at a garden party?

Oh you would be surprised what some folk get up to 😅😅

MinimumRage · 09/04/2026 07:06

honeylulu · 08/04/2026 23:35

I can't remember now if I posted this on the last thread but one of my best friends exes (dad to her 2 kids) was seen down the garden at a mutual friends party getting intimate with two biological males (one a translady and one a man who was known to be bisexual and in an open marriage). But friend's ex is a real ladies' man so I was very surprised. The mutual friend/hostess was the one who caught them and asked me and another friend if she should tell best friend. We agreed not, though if he was still her current partner my answer would have been different.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/04/2026 23:46

Omggg 👀

I dont remember this from the other thread

Yeah i agree, if hes single, theres no need to tell the ex. If they were together though, it would 100% be another story

I think though that bisexual men are often the ladies men about town 🤔

Yes I think you are right. I have known a couple of men, both ladies man types, who have confided that they enjoy a bit of "fun with the boys" 😆

CinnamonBuns67 · 09/04/2026 07:05

My husbands ex girlfriends SIL lied about the paternity of her eldest, the biological Dad is actually my friends cousin not the ex girlfriends brother, the ex girlfriend, her brother and their family don't know.

Oohhh I like this 🧐

I once found out years ago, that an ex colleague (married woman with two kids), was actually in a polyamorous relationship, and they all lived together.

It turned out that there was
"Husband"
Wife no. 1
Wife no. 2, who was also Wife no. 1's sister!
Wife no. 3
Wife no. 4, who was Wife no. 3's sister!!

They all lived together in one big house, and there were children with three of the wives.

And the best part?
He didn't work, he stayed home, whilst all 4 wives went out to work, and they all kept him!
He must have been living the dream.
And these women were all professional intelligent women. Think, nurse, teacher, vet type thing.

Still blows my mind when I think about it 🤯🤯

A guy like that would give me the absolute ick 🤢. The sister thing is also too weird - it gives new meaning to the term sibling rivalry 😂.

Totally off-topic, but in my very limited knowledge of polyamorous relationships, it never seems to be a situation of one woman and multiple husbands - it’s always the other way. Funny that.

itswindyoutside · 09/04/2026 07:05

Many years ago a close friend's husband had an affair with a work colleague. He was disciplined and moved to another location for sexting her while on duty and on a work phone.

The affair couple were both police officers. I found out through a reliable source in that police force - it was obvious that their marriage was under strain at the time too.

We're still friends with the married couple and neither of them has any idea we know this. I don't think the wife even knew it happened.

RagzRebooted · 09/04/2026 07:04

My husband has a half sibling he has never met and none of his other siblings know about. He has two older half siblings on his Mum's side, two on his Dad's and a twin. His dad fathered a child between marriages and hasn't ever acknowledged them, as far as I know. Which I quietly judge him for.

MIL told me this once, I don't really know why, she was a bit drunk. She asked me not to tell DH! After a while, I told him because it seemed wrong to know it when he doesn't. He doesn't seem to care at all! His sister would definitely care... I'm expecting it all to come out one day when someone does an ancestry DNA thing. I don't know if MIL told FIL that she'd told me, she's dead now.

Mintchocs · 09/04/2026 06:59

If shes your SIL doesnt that mean her husbands brother is another sibling of your DH? How on earth could you manage to keep quiet?!

She could be Peppermilks husbands sister.

PersephoneParlormaid · 09/04/2026 07:01

One of my workmates goes to Turkey for 2 weeks with her female friend every year. Not to be mean, but they are both just normal looking women in their 50’s, neither of them go to the gym or have any work done. They both sleep with multiple young men who work around the hotel. The young men pay for a hotel room elsewhere as they can’t be seen to be doing it at work.
I also know a woman who is very unhappy at home (children in boarding school at fathers insistence) but stays for the lifestyle. She goes to Morocco every year on a girls holiday, where she sleeps with the pool boy. She says he’s her boyfriend, but he’s obviously a lot of women’s boyfriend.

Peppermilk24 · 08/04/2026 23:11

My sil kissed her husbands brother - I know as I saw them- it was last summer after a barbecue. They were wrapped around each other and honestly once The kiss stopped the look they give each other let me know it’s not a once off. I’ve told no one and they don’t know I saw.

If shes your SIL doesnt that mean her husbands brother is another sibling of your DH? How on earth could you manage to keep quiet?!

Oh I love this!

Someone I know has raised their child all their life believing they are the biological father, found out when child was 16 that the wife had had an affair abroad at the time of conception and he isn't the father... Aside from obviously being very sad, there is a man out there who she didn't even get the name of that has a 16 year old child they know nothing about 😮

These stories can’t stay secret forever

not now we have 23 and Me / Ancestry websites

OtterMummy2024 · 09/04/2026 06:51

A colleague is having an affair with someone at a different workplace at the other end of the country (but we all know him). Her desk is full of love letters. I knew something had changed when she got her hair dyed blonde (it looks beautiful and she should have done it sooner) and took up running. Then I saw her leaving his hotel room after a work do. Lots of other people at work found out independently although she's never admitted it.

She also lives just round the corner from me, and I've run into the man she's having an affair with at the bus stop nearest our houses. I also see her husband, kids and different combinations of them regularly. It's so, so awkward.
