Will antisemitism ever be looked at and dealt with in the same way as Islamophobia is?

AIBU for thinking it won’t? Because it doesn’t seem to be the case in this country or my home country (Germany).

(I just googled because it didn’t seem right to have antisemitism in lower capitals, but apparently that is correct, as I thought)

Much love to the Jewish community, wherever they are.

https://www.reuters.com/world/jews-england-wales-suffer-highest-rate-religious-hate-crime-data-shows-2025-10-09/

So Jewish people do at least report being victims of hate crime significantly more in recent years. Even adjusting the figures for non reporting of crimes - apparently up to 80% of Muslims don't report hate crimes - it's a bleak picture for both Jews and Muslims right now.

I would assume Muslims are more likely to be victims of race-based hate crime as well as religious hate crime. I do feel that has a part to play. I'm not sure how helpful it is to conflate or compare the two.

Ok, I give up.

The bigots and idiots can have this thread.

Have at it.

You may not see this if you have genuinely flounced this time. There have been some pretty balanced comments on this thread from most. Some of the most bigoted I think have been from you.

How about the fact that the government in this country are going to appoint an anti Muslim hostility tsar, but no Jewish counterpart?

Is this enough for a start?

But there aren’t just two groups in the UK. Is having an anti muslim hostility tsar homophobic?

Not this again, it’s so bloody tedious.
It’s not you or them.
Stop trying to drum up being a victim and just concentrate on having a happy life. You only get one.

I know I shouldn’t even comment because it’s fucking pointless but honestly.,,if it’s tedious to you, just don’t fucking comment!

It’s not hard!

There are many Jews in this country and my home country who feel intimated/ persecuted/ harassed and I don’t think that’s right in 2026.

So if you don’t want to comment or think Jewish people deserve the abuse, then just stay away.

It’s not fucking difficult.

I’m sorry, but I’m really starting to get pissed off here.

Can you pinpoint anything anyone has said in this thread that you think suggests they are antisemitic?

Can you give us some specific examples of antisemitism you have witnessed and how they were dealt with?

Can you explain how you feel that antisemitism and islamophobia are dealt with/viewed differently?

I think a bit more context would be really useful.

Surely you’re joking or you’ve got a very very bad short-term memory

Is this aimed at me?

Are you one of those who says Netanyahu is committing genocide (which I don’t agree with btw)?

And how exactly does that equate to a Jewish person blowing up an arena full of teenagers?

Or driving a truck into people?

Waiting for your response

Yep. Decent people couldn't give a shit what a person's race, religion, creed, etc is.
What I, and many others, do care about is whether someone preaches and practises peace and compassion for all of humanity. Heal the world!

If standing up for the Jewish community means I am somehow Islamophobic then ok, go ahead and call me that.

Meanwhile I’d like you to list all the terror attacks perpetrated by Jews.

I’ll wait here while you make a list…

According to the poll IABU.

Sane as every thread on here speaking out in support of the Jewish community.

I get it.

You can all bask in your antisemitic glow and pat each other on the back, saying what kind people you are.

Well, you’re not.

There are women (and men) in this country who are wearing their Star of David necklace under their clothes.

Children having to lie about their heritage because it’s safer.

I was shocked to hear from a mumsnetters that security around synagogues was a thing already years and years ago.

How is this okay?

I don’t give a shit what you think about the current war with Iran or Netanyahu.

Stop it with the antisemitism!

And if you don’t, then at least don’t tell yourself you’re on ‘the right side of history’. Because you’re not.

There’s so much more I could say, but what’s the point? The bigots and antisemites don’t want to hear it.

Keep screeching ‘from the rivers to the sea’ and follow each other like sheep, telling yourselves how kind you are while one mumsnetter’s eight year old boy has been terrified for months.

There’s no point though, you won’t listen. Jewish people are fair game to you.

Big round of applause for you all 👏👏👏

I made sure my kids had my husband’s non-Muslim surname after 7/7 due to the increase in Islamophobia. Was that ok?

You have ignored the many peaceful people here who deplore antisemitism and Islamophobia. If you had posted, ‘is antisemitism wrong?’, you would have rightly had many people say it is unacceptable. It was more that you were trying to compete with Islam and make out that Islamophobia was much less of an issue. That is what has led to your results.

You seem full of hate. There are people like you on every ‘side’ and it is really unhelpful. You are seeing what you want to see here. Most people on this thread are behind the innocent Jewish people .

Antisemitism is on the rise and should be stamped out. As should Islamophobia. And racism. And homophobia. Do you agree? That is no more whataboutery than your disingenuous and divisive OP.

Thank you both for your replies, but surely anyone who has eyes and ears can see that Jewish people are having a much harder time of it.

Sadly, many people equate being Jewish with supporting the Isreali government. But people also accuse those standing against Israeli genocide in Palestine, and now other parts of the Middle East, of anti semitism. Neither is fair or correct.

I don’t think your claim that Jewish people are having a much harder time of it is true.

Thank you!!! Anti-Zionism is not anti-semitism and having travelled to Israel it’s sad the amount of racism that is faced by “Arabs” - that’s how Asian people are referred to and Black Jews. Even though they have actual Jewish lineage they are referred to as beta-Jews…go figure…

You don't seem able to allow people to have nuanced opinions. If they don't absolutely agree with you on your view of antisemitism you disniss them as antisemitic sheep. It's quite astonishing.

The history of Israel as a religious people and a nation-state and an ethnicity is so complicated that I'm not sure it's possible to hold one straightforward view. I think I just believe a lot of things which I think are true at the same time, and some of them don't sit comfortably together.

I think Jewish people, like everyone else, should be able to live safely and practice their faith in a way that doesn't hurt anyone else.

I think the creation of the State of Israel was an act of colonialism by the British and others. Jews believe God promised them that land, but other people were living there. It very much feels like a solution created at other people's expense.

I read 'Jews Don't Count' and found it really challenging and I would recommend it to others. I do think Israel is held to different standards and this is quite likely antisemitic. However, I think it's also because they are seen as a democratic Western state and it feels like they should be held to account more than countries which aren't democratic.

The magnitude of trauma of the holocaust makes it almost impossible to be reasonable. It has left a scar that hasn't healed, and is still causing pain. I think any binary opinion without caveats is unlikely to be productive in finding healing.

Thank you for your reply, but I happen to believe that there are no ‘nuances’ when it comes to antisemitism.
