Should inheritance always be split equally amount children?

Should you always split inheritance equally between children or should you adjust it according to their individual circumstances like their income and whether they will get inheritance from their in-laws etc?

YANBU-equally is the only fair way
YANBU-take circumstances into account and adjust accordingly

Equally. They will equate it to your love for them. Rightly or wrongly. So equal is the only way.

While equal shares show be the default there are circumstances where adjustments are perfect perfectly reasonable . I think some regard should be had to a child who has made sacrifices and acted as Primary carer for elderly parents and if they don't own their own home and have had full time employment or got a pension. They needs as a direct result of care duties carried out should be considered. It may well be the case that if the deceased is wealthy enough, an equal share will still provide the carer child with a roof over their and some savings, but if not, then other siblings who might be much more financially secure ought to that reasonable adjustment should be made.
