AIBU to be livid at kitchen fitter for pissing all over my bathroom like a bloody tomcat?

AIBU to be absolutely livid that my kitchen fitter pisses all over the toilet and the floor every time he uses the facilities. He must have a "sprinkle-cock" Fireman Sam would be proud of. And not only that, he flushes without putting down the lid of the toilet so aerosols of his piss float through the air coating the immediate area around the loo. Every time he goes in there my whole body tenses and I have to go in after him to mop up the worst of what's on the floor so it doesn't get traipsed through the house. I have carpet ! ! ! ! ! And I know I'll be scrubbing away as soon as he leaves this evening.

My BP is up and it's only day 2 ! Oh god I could swing for him!!!

Get some self respect and just tell him.......hell I won't even clean up my son and his dad's pissy missfires, hell would freeze over before I'd be getting nose to toilet rim over some bloke I'm paying to be there. Just no.

As an aside my sister trained her husband to sit to pee AND wipe.

So what happens if they need a toilet?
Which they inevitably will

We had builders recently, they all just disappeared at lunchtime, clocked off at about 3pm so presumably we're using the loo elsewhere.
On the first day one did have a look for a downstairs loo but when we said we only have one upstairs he said never mind and got back to work.

I don't remember any kitchen fitters using ours then either but that was about 7 Years ago so my.memory isn't great

Years ago a British gas engineer used the loo and left piss on the seat so not only made a mess but didn't even lift the seat up 😨

At this stage in my life, I would not accept this. I think they do it on purpose in a woman’s space. Little power play. I would ask him to sit on the loo and provide a box of cleaning supplies for his ‘accidents’. I would be brisk and no-nonsense about this, like talking to a child.

I'm glad you said this. I've thought this before too. I hate them using my bathroom but you can't really say no.

I accidentally made my facilities unusable. I have three solid wood doors stashed in my bathroom until I get them fitted. The bathroom door is open and they're leaned against it. I live alone so it doesn't matter in the short term.

I got a new carpet fitted yesterday. The fitter asked to use my toilet. I said he could but the door won't close as there's about 100kg of solid doors to move out of the way first.

He declined. I felt a bit guilty but was secretly pleased that he decided to wait until he got to the next job. 😂

They will need to go away and find one or cork it in.

If I was having a major amount of work done (only had that once) I make it clear in advance.

My home, my rules and so my needs and health come first.

If anybody finds this unreasonable they can blame their fellow men rather than expecting women to #bekind.

Whosthetabbynow · 20/03/2026 09:08

How long is he likely to be there fitting the kitchen? If it’s into next week can you hire a Portaloo? Stick it outside. Tell him you’re germ-phobic? Got bladder issues? Is he traipsing up and down your stair carpet in boots covered in piss? I’d want to burn the house down

Ohnobackagain · 20/03/2026 09:07

@MurkyMo thanks for making me chuckle. As a temporary measure could you get some of the disposable piss mats? (Like the material ones but paper I think, you can get them from Amazon). I know you said his range is wide but maybe a plastic decorating sheet in this case?

LakieLady · 20/03/2026 09:04

I've clearly had a sheltered life. I've never shared a bathroom with a man who routinely pisses on the floor, and I'm 70, so there have been a few!

How awful he is, and how disrespectful. If he's an employee, I think I'd be minded to give feedback to his employers (although not until he's finished the kitchen - you need him gone asap).

Thereissnowinmywellies · 20/03/2026 09:02

Our neighbour has a loo mat on the clothles line some times and it is discoloured and permantly stained even though she washes it. Bleugh.
Judgy I know, but why can't men just learn the basics as small boys and then keep that little morsel of knowledge in their heads. Behaving like adults should behave.
I know sometimes there are medical reasons or age related problems but even so.

Screamingabdabz · 20/03/2026 09:00

It’s my DH who would be cleaning it up. He would be furious and wouldn’t have me cleaning up another bloke’s bodily fluids. That’s just disgusting.

AmazingGreatAunt · 20/03/2026 08:59

My father used to say "if you can't shoot straight, sit down!"
I would have an emphatic word with the kitchen fitter or his firm, but I would never have carpet in the loo or bathroom.

Newyearawaits · 20/03/2026 08:58

GloiredeDijon · 20/03/2026 08:39

And this is why I now tell any unknown tradesmen that I am so sorry but actually my loo is adapted for my disability (true) so can’t be used by anyone else (not true).
They can’t be trusted and I am not risking it ever again.

So what happens if they need a toilet?
Which they inevitably will

Changename12 · 20/03/2026 08:57

I don’t think any man using my toilets has done this. Even at 4, my grandson managed to go without leaving a mess and was taught by his father to check and clean up any dribbles.

MurkyMo · 20/03/2026 08:53

😂In my mind I can see myself doing this!!!

Well you're halfway there then!

Just channel your inner head teacher vibes, get it out there and see what happens. Trades are pretty used to direct talk.

Bowling4soup · 20/03/2026 08:56

Why do you need to ask if this is unreasonable it obviously is.
I think you’ll have to say something maybe enter straight after him and say do you mind cleaning up after you’ve been to the loo and hand him the mop

CuriousKangaroo · 20/03/2026 08:56

I would have to say something. I know it might feel awkward but it’s better than seething with rage through the entire fitting and cleaning up some stranger’s piss everyday.

Malasana · 20/03/2026 08:56

I think you need to tell him. I don’t want to worry you but my new kitchen a couple of years ago in the end due to issues discovered while working, took three and a half weeks to complete. That’s a long time to be mopping up his piss.
Just say to him when he next heads to the loo “I’ve left the spray and cloths in the bathroom for you to use. Please clean up after using the toilet”.

MurkyMo · 20/03/2026 08:38

A pedastal mat?? Oh I just think of my granny's house when I see those. But even with one of those I'd still have to scrub as his range is far and wide. Vile!

Pedestal mats are foul and belong only in the bin.

My FiL (widowed with dementia) once insisted for days on end that neighbours had stolen his pedestal mat.
In fact SiL had taken the horrible manky thing away and burnt it!

You are completely in the right and I would be incensed too.

Do you really have carpet, in your bathroom? Around your toilet?

Oh god no. But it's that awful textured safety flooring, husband is disabled so that's why it's here. But it's so difficult to clean because of the rough texture of it.

Honestly, just tackle it direct. He likely has a skin as thick as a rhinos.

Dave, you're passing all over the floor when you use the toilet. That might be OK on your house but it isn't in mine. Either piss straight, or I'm banning you from the toilet, and you'll have to piss into a bottle in your van or go to a pub. I don't care. Do we understand each other?

😩I can't. I can't deliberately embarrass people. Assuming he'd even be embarrassed. My electrician is the same but he's an absolute star so I wouldn't say anything to him. He only did it once anyway, he's so efficient he's in and out in a flash.

MurkyMo · 20/03/2026 08:49

It took me a long time to train DH to sit to pee. There's an occasional drip but I can live with that. I was raging to him about the fitter yesterday and he was quite proud of himself for being so civilised in the toilet department!

franklymydearscarlett · 20/03/2026 08:46

i don’t put up with this from my DH or teen DS so why would I accept it from a random stranger? If DH or DS do this accidentally I make them clean it up. if you can bear it I would be asking the man to be more considerate of your house or put up a note to close the toilet lid.

that said when DS recently had quite a large party for his birthday involving 30 teenage boys I put a couple of towels on the bathroom floor in anticipation and chucked them in a hot wash once they’d left.
