AIBU to be livid at kitchen fitter for pissing all over my bathroom like a bloody tomcat?

AIBU to be absolutely livid that my kitchen fitter pisses all over the toilet and the floor every time he uses the facilities. He must have a "sprinkle-cock" Fireman Sam would be proud of. And not only that, he flushes without putting down the lid of the toilet so aerosols of his piss float through the air coating the immediate area around the loo. Every time he goes in there my whole body tenses and I have to go in after him to mop up the worst of what's on the floor so it doesn't get traipsed through the house. I have carpet ! ! ! ! ! And I know I'll be scrubbing away as soon as he leaves this evening.

My BP is up and it's only day 2 ! Oh god I could swing for him!!!

Better to think of your Granny's house than have to clean up more pee though.

Maybe just put down plastic sheeting like builders use.

Edited

But plastic sheeting won’t cut it alone if they’re pissing over the back of the toilet as well as over the floor. If it gets in the holes where the seat screws in, the whole seat will have to come off for a proper clean or that male piss stench will develop. I genuinely think they do it on purpose in a woman’s house. I remember a poster on here who had a tradesman wipe his bum on her hand towel… such a gap in the market for woman tradies!

😆
If the OP can’t bear to tell him he’s pissed everywhere sh isn’t going to be able to ask him to give it a ‘dry shake’ after unfurling it 😆

OP you have my sympathy, when we had building works done we let them use our outside toilet (ex council house with toilet still in the garden) instead of having to get in a portaloo.
I left bleach in there, wipes etc and used to clean it at the end of each day, let’s just say I was glad it was outside! I’ve got a pretty strong stomach and a Mum of boys so apart from muttering a lot I didn’t unleash the temper because it was not inside.
My boys get an ear bashing every time I discover wee on the floor… they all deny it’s them, so we have a phantom pee’er who accompanies us on holiday as well as stays with us at home 🥴
They are banned from using my bathroom, I begrudgingly let DH use it but not a chance that the phantom pee’er will get a chance to appear in that room!

Edited

Yes I did think that when I wrote it. As a bloke myself I just don't understand how people can have such disregard for other peoples properties . I used to fit doors for clients and always left their loos at least as clean as they were. When we had " tradies" doing some work on our own house there was no internal loo fitted at the time but there was an outside loo in the garden . I told the guys they were welcome to use it but would need to chuck a bucket of water down the pan after they had finished as the water wasn't connected. Asking later ,when they had finished the job, if they were ok using the outside facilities one guy said he didn't bother and just went behind the bush ...the ' bush' being at the front of the house next to a main road ! Jeez ! Some people are animals !!

Pedestal mats are foul and belong only in the bin.

My FiL (widowed with dementia) once insisted for days on end that neighbours had stolen his pedestal mat.
In fact SiL had taken the horrible manky thing away and burnt it!

I agree pedestal mats are foul. But what an unkind thing to do to a man with an already shaky grip on reality. What was he supposed to think had happened to it?

Pinepeak2434 · 20/03/2026 09:51

I can’t hold my thoughts in, so it would get blurted out really loudly when I was cleaning his mess up. “Who the fuck keeps pissing all over the seat, it’s disgusting” obviously you might want to tone it down depending on your personality. 😂 If it didn’t work then I’d tell him outright.

Abra1t · 20/03/2026 09:50

When he asks to go, say, oh just a second, and get out a specially purchased pedestal mat and old towels with a tinkly laugh. Do it every time he asks until it gets it into his skull.

Throw them away when he's gone.

Might make the point.

Not all trade are like this. I must admit I have been very lucky with ours.

A pedastal mat?? Oh I just think of my granny's house when I see those. But even with one of those I'd still have to scrub as his range is far and wide. Vile!

I noticed that there was an unpleasant smell at the base of our downstairs toilet (no carpet) however hard and often I cleaned so bought a couple of pedestal mats and they have been some of the best purchases ever. I generally change one for the other once a week but if I notice that one is getting a bit whiffy, I can wash it and swap it for the other. Pedestal mats may seem as grannyish as the doll in the crinoline dress over the spare toilet roll and, no, l don't have one of those, but they are very practical.
As for the problem of sprinkling all over the seat - disgusting - could you get your husband to mention it to him?

MrsLizzieDarcy · 20/03/2026 09:35

Get some disposable nappy changing pads or incontinence pads and put them all round the toilet on the floor. You can get a big bag of them from Amazon for under a tenner. (I buy them to go under my dog beds as they get sweaty otherwise with the lining underneath). If he doesn't get that hint, he's past helping.

You shouldn't have to put up with this. As a grown man ,he should do the " shake" before starting to pee...that is like un- kinking a garden hose so there is some direction control. Often remaining tucked in our underwear for a few hours our appendages need straightening out before use ! Easily done by giving it a quick " dry shake".first before the flow starts. Don't know how you would be able to advise him about doing this though ?!

I was thinking the same. I have never come across a workman who has done this, let alone guests.

My late FIL did this. I think it was another way to humiliate women. I made XH clean it, but MIL would clean even if she was 80 at the time. (Yes, it was a mistake to marry into that family...)

CDTC · 20/03/2026 09:32

DP is a tradesman as is his dad so I know a lot of them. You need to tell him, as blunt as possible. "Gavin, stop pissing everywhere like you're a fucking tomcat!"

I'm eternally grateful that dp is very clean in this department but I've had a lot of run ins (as has DP) with the others, including his father, about the mess they leave in the bathroom. I don't know what it is but as soon as they put on trade pants they start spraying like a bloody water fountain and don't even get me started on the skid marks 🤢

safetyfreak · 20/03/2026 09:30

Omg, tell him. You are wiping up his piss, he should be embarrassed!

This is disgusting. My husband does not piss on the toilet seat or floor. I did have one trademan do this in my home, it was a short job, and he left shortly after, but I thought what a vile pig.

Say something!

How near is the kitchen to being finished?
id put this on trust pilot review

great kitchen poor toilet habits and tell the world

revolting

Happyjoe · 20/03/2026 09:28

He needs to sit down. My mum used to make my dad sit down.

I had this at uni, so I painted a smiley face with enamel paint at the back of the bowl. It worked, the blokes couldn't resist aiming for it. Wasn't even much of a mess after we had a big party.

Blokes are really odd some times. You have my sympathies OP, it's one of those situations that you want to say something but feel you can't because gotta wait to see if he does well with the kitchen.

Thereissnowinmywellies · 20/03/2026 09:25

Another thing to consider, if they are pissing everywhere, they aren't likely to wash their hands either. But then some people don't which is revolting in itself.

godmum56 · 20/03/2026 09:23

Changename12 · 20/03/2026 08:57

I don’t think any man using my toilets has done this. Even at 4, my grandson managed to go without leaving a mess and was taught by his father to check and clean up any dribbles.

I was thinking the same. I have never come across a workman who has done this, let alone guests.

Moveoverdarlin · 20/03/2026 09:20

I’d have a dig but disguise it as ‘bants.’ Bloody hell Steve! Any chance you could get in your piss IN the toilet next time?’

Climbingrosexx · 20/03/2026 09:17

GloiredeDijon · 20/03/2026 09:08

They will need to go away and find one or cork it in.

If I was having a major amount of work done (only had that once) I make it clear in advance.

My home, my rules and so my needs and health come first.

If anybody finds this unreasonable they can blame their fellow men rather than expecting women to #bekind.

Edited

I agree to the extent your house your rules but I would be very surprised if anyone actually agrees to work for you. In my experience tradesmen tend to be very busy and can pick and choose jobs. I wouldn't work in anyones house all day if I was not allowed to use the toilet. Then again I would not piss all over someones floor.

Templeofthedog · 20/03/2026 09:17

My friend used to have a sign in her bathroom that said 'if you sprinkle when you tinkle please be sweet and wipe the seat', you need one of those OP!

Newyearawaits · 20/03/2026 08:58

So what happens if they need a toilet?
Which they inevitably will

And who would believe a disability toilet could be designed so it was impossible to be used by an able bodied person? If the guy fits kitchens he probably knows a bit about bathrooms too.

You'd be better off just saying it was broken? I just can't imagine refusing someone the use of my toilet. Mind you I've never had a very pissy tradesman before.

I'm pretty sure my bathroom fitters went elsewhere because I was right next to the open bathroom door the whole time they were working in there. And could hear everything.

Gowlett · 20/03/2026 09:16

My DH job at home is the floors. Hoovering & mopping. When he does the bathroom, he goes in once it’s dried & pisses all over it. I just don’t understand…

DrMickhead · 20/03/2026 09:16

TomatoSandwiches · 20/03/2026 08:36

I would not accept this, give him some cleaning spray and a cloth and tell him to clean up his mess..... fucking disgusting man.

I got sacked from a job in my youth for giving a pissy man the blue roll, a spray and saying “you clean it, bellend” after he pissed everywhere and gleefully told me it needed cleaning by snapping his fingers and pointing at me. The cheek shocks me 20 years later 😂

What kind of rubbish loo sprays water if you flush without the lid down?

Blue paper is your friend. The sort you can either clean up with or use under a drip to see where it is coming from. Four quid from b and q. Say you are chasing an occasional leak. Let him see his filthiest
