Is anyone following the Nancy Guthrie case?

First two paras:

"TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A Shadow Hills resident tells News 4 Tucson that she witnessed three people being detained during a SWAT operation on Friday night. According to an unconfirmed report by a neighbor, another person shot himself in the head.

This comes after a SWAT situation occurred in the Shadow Hills neighborhood on Feb. 13. A man and a woman were detained at the house, and a third person was detained in a traffic stop, according to sources close to the investigation."

Thanks @lovelyweatherforasleighride it says I can't access for legal reasons, something to do with GDPR, so presume that is stateside reporting. BBC have just posted an updated article but nowhere near as much info. I expect they'll catch up once they've gone through their verification process.

The whole thing is just awful, it's horrible to think of anyone being put through that trauma but particularly an older person and her children must be so worried.

Woah, three detained and a fourth person associated with the three detainees has shot themselves in the head and died.

The press on this is very muddled at present, it might be a lead with the SWAT team but difficult to tell at present

They've detained three people. It may go nowhere like the other person they detained.

I can’t beleive they still haven’t found this woman, it is so unusual.

Now they’re saying they have unknown dna in the house. So not family or staff (gardener etc).

Yes sorry what I was meaning is that in such an unusual case it might well be that many of the local police were not used to or experienced in correctly dealing with this type of thing.
Reading between the lines of what has been said the scene inside the house in addition to the blood and doorbell cam being removed made it very clear very quickly that something sinister had happened

There was blood spatter at her front door and along the path... Not a missing person case.

The trouble is it is very unusual for these types of things to happen. Initially it may just have been assumed to be a missing person case not an abduction. Hundreds of people go missing on a daily basis and a very small percentage of those have come to harm.

Especially if they’re brown and clearly nothing like the image on the doorbell footage like the last guy.

From what I have read, I think the local police force cocked it up from the start. The FBI have been hampered in their investigations. It's a mess.

I would hope that things going quiet means that the FBI have sufficient information to be moving the investigation forwards. If they hadn’t they would likely be still appealing for more information.
What surprises me is the lack of video footage. Unless of course there is more that hasn’t been released to the public. Whilst the houses in the area are not really close together they are not that far apart. And many are close enough to the road for CCTV footage to cover sections of the road. These are high value properties with pools etc so I would have expected more to have security cameras.

Adult kidnapping by strangers is rare. Something else is afoot. It’s taking ages for anything concrete to happen. You’ve got to hope there’s load of focused smart work going on behind the scenes

It does seem to have gone quiet but I bet there's lots going on with the investigation. I don't think it's helpful to turn it into political mud slinging.

Just horrible. I’m guessing it’s someone replicating the attack by a Republican on Democrat Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

Republican supporters have also already started the victim blaming against Savannah Guthrie.

What’s going on with this poor lady and her family? It all seems to have gone very very quiet. Or am I looking in the wrong places? Have they (FBI/police) given up due to the daily medicine she isn’t taking, and they think she’s probably dead now anyway?

This is not the work of Trump. No way. Trumps interest in this case is because of the media attention around it. Nothing more. Trump hates anything being more newsworthy than him. If he is not the centre of attention he has to reframe it so that he is. Thats why he has offered full support.
Kidnapping an elderly woman of a journalist does nothing for Trump. It doesn’t in any way further his objectives. Nor is he actually competent enough to pull it off.
