she’s being made to sell their home and work, taking jobs she wouldn’t normally, and being away from her kids?

I know some of you are gonna be like ‘poor little rich girl’ 😂😂😂 but honestly, what kind of man is this?? Feel for her a little (from my own, much lower, tax bracket)

I was hoping to see her back in Corrie. She used to get on my nerves but then she turned into a bimbo.😂😂😂

If she's got a part in a play, I'm sure that she can get other work.
It seems as if the partner's name was on the property, which is a problem - it's his to sell.
She was on Corrie for years, I'm assuming she invested money for the future?

SuziQuinto · 23/01/2026 21:06

Actually, I've just read that she's about to be in a play "The Memory of Water", which starts it's run next week.
So, OP, she's not a SAHM, she's working.

Fluffyholeysocks · 23/01/2026 21:05

"She says she has to work, so he can't be providing for her properly' .....so she's in the same position as most of us 'workers'.

YourWildAmberSloth · 23/01/2026 21:05

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/01/2026 20:56

she left her good job though to be a mum, right? I wonder why she isn’t allowed back at corrie - they could use her tbh

She took maternity leave. There's no reason that she couldn't return to acting, she would have been relatively well-paid and with child support and an involved father, I don't think child care is/was an issue. For whatever they she chose to be an SAHM (and good for her, if that's what worked for them both) but things have changed. there's absolutely no reason that she can't work. She'll still be better off than the average single parent.

She’s saying she has to work, so he can’t be providing properly - he put her in that house, he should be keeping her there imo

I am aware it’s not a popular opinion but I’d like to change that 🤭

He can’t. He’s not earning City or Celtic wages anymore. When he was, he supported her with being a SAHM (and the other things she tried between acting and deciding to be a SAHM), but now he’s a Rovers player, he can’t. He isn’t worth the big salary anymore, if he ever was, and his wages are on the downward turn, they won’t go back up.

Neither of them can afford the house and neither of them can afford to be SAHP.

Fancyachangefromitall · 23/01/2026 21:04

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/01/2026 20:57

😂😂😂 why? Being a sahm is a job! Just like being a housekeeper or a cleaner is a job 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Being a stay a SAHM is not a job. Everything that A SAHM would do is done by a working mum except they also have the additional responsibility and challenge of holding down working hours as well. Being a SAHM is a privilege not an entitlement.

I can’t believe she didn’t marry him!

From the way he's behaving now, like a total dick playa, I suspect she probably wanted to but he wouldn't.

I do feel a bit bad for her actually. She was very vacuous and immature in her day but motherhood seems to have been the making of her and it must be very hard for her life to have suddenly imploded.

Why should he?!
how odd - she’s young and capable of work
she may THINK shes entitled to a certain lifestyle but she’s isn’t owed it by her ex

he should be housing and taking care of his kids
it doesn’t need to be in a huge house which is a money pit

Lampzade · 23/01/2026 21:01

She needs to get a job .It is really as simple as that
Reckon she may go down the Only Fans route

Urg.. that actually gives me the mn “ick” reading that! So if your partner lost their job for any reason you’d refuse to contribute to the household?

GCAcademic · 23/01/2026 21:00

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/01/2026 20:39

She’s a sahm though, that’s her job 🥺

People lose their jobs and have to find another one. Their employer doesn’t carry on paying them once they’ve had their P45.

But she wasn't a houseWIFE, it's her biggest mistake, no divorce settlement. Link this article OP every time someone says they're thinking of going part time to have DC and their DP earns well but they don't need to be married because it's just a piece of paper...

This. I still shake my head in despair when I see ANYone saying 'marriage is just a piece of paper.' Errrrr, no luv it's not. It's a deep commitment, and a sign you love and care for that person, and want to spend the rest of your life with them. It's also a contract that protects you both.

Being with someone long-term, and refusing to ever get married, just suggests you're waiting for someone better to come along.

I have known many a case where someone is in a relationship with someone who refuses to get married, and after 7 to 10 years or so together they split. Within a year, the one who has refused to get married is married to someone else.

So it's often not that they don't want to get married. It's just they don't want to marry that one particular person.

.

SuziQuinto · 23/01/2026 21:00

What am I missing here? I don't understand why she can't get paid employment like most parents?

Why? They weren't even married?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/01/2026 20:59

Zov · 23/01/2026 20:46

Nailed it. Never EVER have babies with a man who CBA to marry you. Helen is screwed now. I don't envy her. She is a B-lister who hasn't done anything except for Corrie, (not been in it for a decade,) and the odd reality TV show. So she hasn't exactly got loads of security, or a huge financial buffer herself.

I feel a bit sorry for her though to be honest, as she is fairly used to a privileged 'celeb' type lifestyle, and thought having kids with a footballer would be her golden ticket. Wrong. He doesn't give a shit about her, and wouldn't even put a ring on it.

She's very pretty, but a bit one dimensional as an actress. I wish her well, but shit happens and then you die. She's going to have to roll with the punches. Gonna have to get a job. As has been said, millions of single mums do the same in every day life. Life as an actor or actress is a lottery, and many of them spend a LOT of time not in acting work - and working other jobs! It's the life of an actress. Surely Helen knows this.........

.

Edited

agree

Am I missing something? He seems to be financially providing for the family, he just needs them to downsize. Which, given that he appears to be paying for it all is fair enough, no?

Yes!!!! Hard agree

if your man earns well, don’t have kids without that ‘piece of paper’ honestly

I agree, they aren’t that rich and understand that that house would’ve been expensive

but she wasn’t working when she had the kids, iirc, she was a housewife? I think she should be able to continue that life, this man is shite

also, didn’t know he wasn’t a prem league player

She was working when she had her children, definitely one of them and possibly the first two.
