Labour Voters. Honest question

Tryingtodobetter82 · 29/12/2025 23:46

I’m not looking to start an argument on this subject. I know it’s a very heated and emotive topic.

I have strong views on political issues. What with algorithms and biased news organisations, it’s very easy to end up only seeing information that confirms what we already believe. Because of that, you don’t often hear the other side of the political divide.

I’m honestly curious whether those who voted Labour at the last General Election, for reference I did not, would vote the same way if there were an early GE in January, purely hypothetical of course.

If so, I’d really appreciate you sharing what you feel they’ve done right so far in their term. I’m asking as I genuinely want to understand different perspectives.

YABU - I would vote labour again
YANBU - I wouldn’t vote for them again (or ever have)

It’s a good example for the level of debate set by the left as discussed. Labour can’t claim a high ground or complain when they get similar in return.

Yep. So much venom directed at Sunak's wife too.

OonaStubbs · 31/12/2025 16:03

I honestly think Labour will be completely obliterated at the next election. They have completely lost their way.

OutieModeOn · 31/12/2025 15:58

I can't vote for Reform because I'm not a racist.

I can't vote Green because I think abandoning all nuclear power and NATO is pure lunacy.

I can't vote Conservative because...well just look at how the country fared after 14 years of Tory rule (broadly gestures at everything).

I could potentially vote Lib Dem, but in recent years they seemed to have become a party of NIMBYism which is the last thing the country needs right now.

So, that leaves me with Labour. I voted for them last time as it was a two horse race between them and the Tories in my area.

I feel incredibly frustrated that I don't have a party that inspires me to vote for them, and I'm left voting for the party I dislike the least.

TopPocketFind · 31/12/2025 15:54

As opposed to Labour conspired to lie about the Tories?

The Right 😂

Why did Sunak call an early election if the country was in safe hands with him?

What complete garbage about Sunak.

But there we have it: disgraceful conspiracy nonsense from the left, for all to see.

Sunak =decent??!! Seriously his family, aka wife and father in law, rinsed the country and took what they could, she wasn’t even willing to pay tax.
As for May, a doubt a couple thousand Windrush descendants wouldn’t class as decent.

Lightingfail · 31/12/2025 15:11

I voted Labour, to get the Tories out. It was an absolute shambles after the Brexit vote until the last GE. At least we have a period of relative stability. I think Labour messed up over the National Insurance in the first budget and lots of job cuts have been made as a result. I'd still vote for them again, but then if it came to it I'd vote for almost anyone in my area who would be most likely to keep Reform out.

Sunak is very decent. How did his family rise this country per say? Can't think of a single thing.

Yes

You are the person who used “schtick”, “con”, and “mugs”. Cannot take you seriously.

Publicly accessible. How ‘dumb’.

That’s a dumb personal blog using words like “woke” and “shill”.

Not even remotely credible. Transitioning out of the oil-age is essential. Change is difficult but necessary.

Ok Mandingo. I’d never use the word ‘dumb’ but each to their own.

A pp writes ‘credit to Ed Miliband as he is trying to take concrete steps to reduce climate change’. That gave me a laugh. A hollow laugh. The only thing Ed Milliband is good at is looking after himself. The whole climate change schtick is a con. They’re all making millions from us tax paying mugs. Well, us high rate tax paying mugs.

The admin is pretty cheap anyway, it’s done by changing tax codes.

ladygindiva · 31/12/2025 11:18

GIow · 30/12/2025 23:22

Isn’t it now costing the taxpayer more than it was - to pay the WFA to all but then to do the admin of clawing it back?

It wasn't being paid to all, only all pensioners . Poorer families / households were receiving nothing.

@Tryingtodobetter82 are you going to come back to the thread at all? People have explained their perspectives as you asked in your OP. What are your thoughts?

So much for a 'honest question' Confused

TheRishi · 31/12/2025 10:57

The only thing I like is the fact that labour are now being harsh on the boat crossings. Need to go harder however.

And not bothering to campaign properly

Hmm fair point- if you want to win an election then it helps if you actually campaign for it.

onho · 31/12/2025 10:43

MaryWelly · 30/12/2025 11:26

I wouldn't vote for Labour again - because they've taken my vote and used it to push legislation for Tory/Reform policies.

Look at their horrendous plans for the immigration system, stirring up racism and pandering to Farage.

Look at how long it took them to remove the two child benefit cap.

Credit to Ed Milliband and he is trying to take concrete steps to reduce climate change, but Kier Starmer has less commitment than even Boris Johnson on the green agenda.

Labour think they are shedding voters to Reform. They are ignoring the votes they are shedding to the greens - or even the Lib Dems!

This.

TheRishi · 31/12/2025 10:42

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 31/12/2025 10:27

I agree. I’d say he’s obviously a decent man. Not particularly good at politics, but decent.

But that’s no obstacle to MN’s Labour die-hards who invented all sorts of horrible conspiracy stories about corrupt dealings with his father-in-law and about his wife and their tax affairs. ‘Richi’ Sunak 🙄

As a British Indian and a proud Hindu I'm happy rishi and his wife's side of the family both have had successful prospering careers.

To be fair Theresa May was also decent and honourable although clearly made a dreadful mistake in going for a snap election.

And not bothering to campaign properly

Barney16 · 31/12/2025 10:32

I'm a labour supporter but voted tactically in the last election to elect the Lib Dems and keep the Tories out. I would do the same again or vote labour if I thought they could win. Would I do the same again? Yes. I'm old and have seen the chaos of Tory governments and the prioritisation of the wealthy at the expense of those who aren't wealthy. Austerity was a disaster and inflicted untold hardship. There's no way I would sign up to support that even though I'm likely to be worse off under a labour government.
