We've had 2 birthdays in work today and I didn't join in with the singing of happy birthday. I hate it. Have a great day and all that but I don't feel the need to go and join in.

I also hate Christmas, it's a waste of money. Love the time with family but the rest of it can fuck off.

I also hate going for a wee and stopping for diesel.

What do you hate?

Hoovering the stairs too

I always used a hand brush do clean my stairs. I would start at the top & work down including woodwork then sweep/hoover the pile at the bottom.

Carrying heavy bags of shopping from where I park to my house,

I hear you. My friend has to park a good bit away from the entrance to her flat. She gets a lot delivered, but when she doesn't she uses one of these. I think they look great and would be useful for lots of things around the house/garden. So no more backache! Although you do have to lift the bags from the boot to the cart I suppose!

Fucking everyone 😃

Menopause.
( I hate everyone at the moment too.!)
Enforced fun
Family calendars from adults. ( I don't want serious pictures of family posing with fecking pumpkins or doing 'thumbs up" from various parties. Why would I want you dominating my calendar with your forced smiles and posing. Jeez!!

Being talked to in the super market.
Sanitary towels that unstick and weld to my leg.
Itchy labels.
All people at most times of the day.
And Broad Beans.

ShinyHappyTits · 09/12/2025 20:17

I thought of another one: when you're sitting having lunch, clearly exuding 'I'm on my own and that's deliberate' vibes and someone comes and sits next to you and jabbers all the way through your nice quiet break.

Sitting at outdoor cafe just about to eat and Smokey Joes light up next me. Lovely

I was at a holiday camp in Italy few months ago

All the restaurants and outdoor eating areas oh my gosh the smokers

I used to be a smoker and it drove me mad

It was so bad

Even on the fringe of the outdoor area close to the j side the smokers were all gathered there

Couldn't beliveve it

HiEarthlings · 09/12/2025 17:17

People. Apart from a few chosen friends and my family (and even then, they need to be in small doses) I could do very well without other people. I'm autistic and despise the fact that people will not say what they actually mean. They skirt around issues, make subtle hints about things instead of just asking outright and rarely mean what they actually say. And don't get me started on "small talk"! So yeah....people.

Oh, and large forks and spoons, thick mugs and artificial scents....to name just a few 😁

TreeDudette · 09/12/2025 12:53

I'm autistic so I have a long list of normal things that I hate:
Bright lighting
Background noise, annoying noises like the windscreen wipers or the fan in the car
Itchy clothes, tight clothes, knicker elastic, the wrong socks, uncomfortable shoes, clothes generally, strange fabrics. Put it this way I like some nighties made out of certain fabric and all other clothes are differing degrees of yuck.
Clapping, cheering, encouraging people e.g. "Go on, you can do it!"
Things that smell "funny"
Taking a shower or a bath. Removing my clothes in order to get wet generally.
Getting presents
Not getting presents on occasions when one would expect t e.g Xmas (no one ever said it had to make sense)
My hair touching me
Having my hair up in bobbles
Going to the hairdresser
Having makeup or other gloopy things on my face
Oh a bazillion other things... How I get up every day, shower, dress and work for a living bamboozles me. Probably only manage because I can do it from home in my tracksuit!

People who walk so slow you're nearly up the back of them & can't move to the side to pass them coz they have loads of bags or kids hanging off them.

People who stand at the top of stairs or escalators then suddenly change their mind & turn around to come away from them.

Drivers who toot you when it's them in the wrong.

Shop assistants who chat away with whoever they're serving even after they've accepted the cash/card & bagged up the items. They carry on the conversation when there's a huge queue waiting.

Definitely the drivers tooting one. I had a moment the other day where I literally blocked a driver coming across a roundabout for the whole of three seconds (!) and he honked me and waved his hand in a shitty way.

Just because he was driving a sodding great SUV Mercedes, he decided he couldn't be patient and as even though I had right of way, I had no choice but to move when he wanted 😵‍💫😳

Yes, I probably shouldn't have blocked the roundabout or his junction but he was just an impatient unpleasant prat.

Ha ha, rant over.😆😅😂

Men at the swimming pool who assume "fast lane" is a synonym for "all men to swim here regardless of ability"

YES. Especially the ones that do a performative butterfly as if a fucking walrus has suddenly been unleashed.
And oooh aren't they cross when you're faster!

the80sweregreat · 09/12/2025 12:32

I thought the grass grew through the cracks on the drive! Shows that I know nothing, but it is a losing battle trying to stop it. Even with a weed puller thing from JML !

the80sweregreat · 09/12/2025 12:30

The spot checks for the self service scanners are a pain and the stores don’t have enough staff. I feel so sorry for the employees having to do the checks especially if it’s a big one.
The money these places save by not hiring extra staff is also criminal, yet we have all let it happen for the convenience of scanning and shopping as we go and changing the tills to be self service ones over time.

Agree that Lewis on strictly was robbed and I hope people turn it off for the final and the whole show is quietly axed. The voting system sucks .
The grass that grows through my driveway also winds me up too. How and why does it do that ?
Tried everything to stop it happening and it still breaks through the cracks! Resin ones to have done are too expensive and I bet it still happens 😂

TBF it's growing from the dirt in the grooves of the bricks, not up through them. It pisses us both off but you bet your sweet tush it'll be me doing something about it. Oooh, this thread has felt very cathartic, well done OP

Washing my hair
The ensuing frizz
Rain (see above)
Winter
Trying to get toddler dd to have a wee when out and about while trying to get round all the coats/scarves etc.
Having to do all the shopping because DH won't learn to drive. And putting it away.
The cooking and cleaning up somehow being my responsibility also
The self-shop function in Tesco ALWAYS picking me out for a spot check that never finds anything. What the fuck is the point of it if you don't trust me??
And all the laundry
People who don't know the rules of the road so don't bother trying
Especially those in SUVs who then almost run me off the road
The grass that grows through the paving on the driveway
My husband.
My mother in law
My sister in law.
Being self-employed, so having to go to work even when I feel like death
Rachel Reeves now making us do tax returns 4 times per year even though our pension prospects are considerably worse than the employed.
Waking up every single fucking night needing a wee, sometimes twice.
This government
People who have no spatial awareness while in public places (mostly men)
Lewis being eliminated instead of dopey George.

Crikey, that escalated.

NotMeNorI · 08/12/2025 21:06

Cleaning the highchair three times a day (why don't they come apart properly?!!).
Putting away washing (clothes).
Anything involving socialising, outside of about five people I really enjoy spending time with.
WhatsApp (always forget to respond as too busy and then feel awfully guilty for weeks).
A lot of clothing textures (wool, scratchy things).
Having dirty or gritty hands when cooking / baking.
My fingernails being too long.
Any visits to A&E / urgent care - the bloody waiting rooms, answering the same questions, hanging around without being told anything.
Long drives home when I'm tired (it's always so much easier on the way there!).

HelloDandy · 08/12/2025 19:35

Slow customers and equally slow shop assistants. Get your fucking cash or card and store card ready to scan and stop chatting FFS! I went to a till this afternoon instead of the self scan cos I didn't want to set off the alarms with the alcohol I bought. I ended up picking up the bottles and going to the self scan cos the cashier was dithering and so was the woman he was serving. Seriously, shut up, speed up and move out of the way.

Things I love: this thread

Things I hate: People who describe racist/misogynistic old gits as ‘old school’
People who walk in front of you on the pavement/in the supermarket/anywhere when you are in a rush & they are either insanely slow or walking in a fucking line with their equally slow snail people.
People who talk at you.
Raw onion.
Getting up in the dark to go for a wee.
Getting up in the dark to get up.
Frogs.

Jewelanemone · 07/12/2025 22:50

Performative sleeping in airports. Laying down on the floor next to the seats, with rucksack as pillow and pretending to be asleep.

Usually the same sort of people who carry large water bottles everywhere and take huge gaspy swigs every few seconds, so we can all appreciate how healthy they are.

Also to be found examining menus and ingredient lists in minute detail and asking a million questions because 'intolerances'.

I'll show you bloody intolerant.

TroysMammy · 07/12/2025 22:44

Putting cutlery away.

Putting petrol in the car.

Getting my face wet in the shower.

Having to sort recycling into separate bags.

Being asked "ready for Christmas?" Never but definitely not this year thanks to fucking Evri.

New Year's Eve parties and singing Auld Lang Syne or even watching people singing it on TV. (I now go to bed at 10pm on 31 December).

Having to reciprocate mumbling saying Happy New Year for the month of January.

People who think it's acceptable to have a conversation on speaker phone and holding it in front of them with no thought of the poor deaf sod on the other end who's trying their best to help. Even though they are told of the hearing difficulties they still persist in continuing the conversation their way and getting arsey because they've got to repeat themselves.

If I say I hate people I think that would cover it and more.

The infiltration of everything by ChatGPT and its smarmy bullshit damaging education, stealing intellectual property, creating slop and completely unnecessary demand for water and energy, increasing climate change. All the fucking apps and websites trying to force ‘AI’ on you, and making you scroll past it to get to actual content.
And breathe.

Completely agree
