We've had 2 birthdays in work today and I didn't join in with the singing of happy birthday. I hate it. Have a great day and all that but I don't feel the need to go and join in.

I also hate Christmas, it's a waste of money. Love the time with family but the rest of it can fuck off.

I also hate going for a wee and stopping for diesel.

What do you hate?

When you message a colleague on Teams a question that could be answered with a simple yes or no, yet they feel it necessary to video call you.

God I hate this too. Surely the whole point of messaging is to avoid having to do calls. Such a waste of time 😡

Simbaonedaythiswillallbeyours · 05/12/2025 20:09

My neighbours and their awful, feral children and disgusting bins
Putting on duvet covers
Deciding whats for dinner every fucking night
Litter
Racists
Doctors pushing anti-anxiety meds but refusing to blood test me for menopause first
Faffers
My ex
Online dating

Bitofashock · 05/12/2025 20:07

Getting dressed after swimming. Love pools and spas etc but trying to get dressed gets me so cross.

Flu/viruses. Cleaning. Arseholes. The relentless fucking hamster wheel of daily life. Laundry. Computers. The sound of people eating. The sound of people breathing. Liars. Phones. Reading glasses, glasses generally - how is it in 2025 we have these awkward fucking foldy poky things to stick on our faces like two shite magnifying glasses? Why isnt it invented better? Toasters. Emails. The cold. The heat. Talking. Also bras.

I'll stop now and come back later, there will be more.

Ever thought about contact lenses or laser eye surgery?

mambojambodothetango · 05/12/2025 20:00

Fly-tipping and littering generally. Radios or music on in the background where it's not loud enough to hear properly but you get a tinny noise. People, usually men, who take up too much space with their loud voices and massive feet.

SantiagoSky · 05/12/2025 19:53

Cars in general, large ones parked in the wrong places in particular
Motorcycles, especially loud ones
Cats shitting in my garden

Grandmashorty · 05/12/2025 19:51

Neighbours allowing dogs to bark incessantly when I want to sit in the garden
Being woken up from a nice sleep by noise outside or inside
People talking too loudly in public
Winter weather - esp grey and rainy days
Groups of people walking across the pavement straight at you
People congregating in exits/entrances
The miserable staff in our post office - I can’t go in any more
Feeling cold
Untidy house
Housework
My husband’s snoring - resorted to separate rooms
Having eye problems
Having teeth problems
Bad drivers
Cancelled trains
Insomnia
Blinding car headlights - now don’t drive at night
TV adverts
Adverts on social media

I worked with teens for a while and the 'I have ADHD' seemed to be the go to line for
(a) excusing bad behaviour.
(b) not wanting to do mundane tasks like completing application forms.
(c) brazenly asking for free stuff.
(d) lack of punctuality
(e) can't be arsed attitude.

Interesting how selective ADHD is, as some of these kids had no problem filming, editing and posting tik tok videos, playing complex games on their phones, writing and posting on FB, explaining how the algorithm worked on Instagram, one ADHD girl sitting quietly for half an hour and photo editing a selfie she'd taken...

As one of my cynical colleagues used to say; 'these mental health alphabet diseases are the new 'bad back'.

I'm glad you're not longer working with teens as your lack of knowledge re neurodiversity is clear. I'm no snowflake over the 'popularity ' of these diagnoses either but you'd do well to educate yourself on things such as hyperfocus behaviours.

I hate spitting

Nervousb2b · 05/12/2025 19:33

When someone refers to their dog as "DL"

Love
mental health alphabet diseases 😂

The drivers who turn right at the crossroads, see the traffic lights for the road they have just entered and stop. It’s not your light, there is no stop line there. This then leads to drivers behind getting stuck in middle of crossroads. Sends me raging.

SingtotheCat · 05/12/2025 19:20

JudgeBread · 05/12/2025 12:17

People who congregate in shop doorways or the middle of shop aisles to have a chat.

Fuck off out the way you weapons, go to a cafe or something to have a catch up, not the middle of the fecking veg aisle.

This brings out the bastard in me. One who says “excuse me!” in a tone.

ImWearingPantaloons · 05/12/2025 19:10

Swede

RampantIvy · 05/12/2025 19:04

Driving on unlit country lanes in the dark and driving rain and being dazzled by oncoming car headlights.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 05/12/2025 19:02

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/12/2025 12:17

Topping up tyres in howling wind.

Same. Maybe one day I'll get a decent-sized garage I can back the car into when the weather is crap. I can but dream.

newbluesofa · 05/12/2025 19:01

I don't mind singing happy birthday to others but I hate having it sung to me! What do you do with your face? Where do you look?

mashandgravy · 05/12/2025 18:59

People who get out of a lift or off an escalator and just stand there. People watching videos or loudly flicking through TikTok on their phones on public transport. Virtue signalling. DEI bollocks. Cancel culture. Wokeism every time I turn on the telly or radio. Real sexism, racism, and bigotry. Fake grifters who casually accuse other people of such for nothing of the sort. Sarcasm. Climate change crackpottery. Mouth-frothers and people who enjoy being offended. People who don't indicate. Mushrooms. Covid hysterics. Narcissistic parents who dress their kids up as the opposite sex and call them trans. Most public institutions. Most politicians. Making lists of things I hate.

EdithStourton · 05/12/2025 18:58

Horizontal rain which gets all over my glasses even if I'm wearing a brimmed hat (bought specifically to keep rain off my glasses).

Large companies whose call centre workers entirely fail to resolve your issue, in fact make it worse (looking at you, EE; E.ON also a contender here. BT I no longer deal with because they're so shit - but they're linked to EE which may explain things).

Snide sisters-in-law. After 30 years of their shit, I'm done.

People who drive on country lanes but are unable to reverse back to the passing space one car length behind them, and instead expect me to reverse back 50 yards round a bloody bend.

People who talk loudly or play music out loud on trains, buses. People who play music so loudly you can hear it five doors down. People who think screeching in the street at midnight is acceptable behaviour.

Whichever person it is who chucks beer cans into the bushes along the footpath near my house. In fact, any bugger who litters anywhere.

People who let their little darling run amuck and shout the place down in the doctor's surgery, library etc.

Reviewing my (incomplete) list, I see it's mostly people. Not A Fan.

Hufflebuffs · 05/12/2025 18:58

Christmas cards. I mean it’s very kind and all but I hate them in the house.

the80sweregreat · 05/12/2025 18:50

Ellen
People who can’t make a story short. I fear it’s becoming a lost art form !

hoxtonbabe · 05/12/2025 18:50

All this thread has done was made me realise I’m not as grumpy and miserable as I thought because I agreed with the majority of these gripes 😂 and I feel comfort knowing it’s “not just me “

Although the one that’s really getting my blood pressure up at the moment is the food delivery cyclist with no lights… dressed in all black and no lights, what could possibly go wrong 😡🙄

80smonster · 05/12/2025 18:50

Class whatsapps. I’d rather never have another piece of lost uniform back, so long as the PTA can’t scent me via telephone - like bloodhounds.

Thepeopleversuswork · 05/12/2025 18:49

People who use the phrase "my little family" occupy a special place in hell
People who go on about being an "introvert" as if it makes them really interesting and quirky
Ironing
People who play music without headphones on public transport
Spiders
Tennis on the TV in summer
Passwords on any conceivable website/app or any kind of internet activity

the80sweregreat · 05/12/2025 18:49

The cost of a hair cut. It is getting ridiculous.
Its a World Cup year next year :(
