Is there anyone on here who voted Labour who is genuinely happy with how things are going

I didn’t vote Labour, but was actually quite excited. We needed change, now I dint think that at all and although Tories weren’t great in many respects, this shit show feels worse! I’m so tired of our politicians just not doing what is best for the country and having to curtail to babk benchers/unions, lining their own pockets and wardrobes and generally just being untrustworthy.
i have no doubt Farage will get in next time, and it will be Keir’s fault.

They are terrible at comms. Really terrible. And they have made a load of unforced errors I wasn’t expecting (Angela Rayner, budget leaks etc.). But I am happy they are investing in infrastructure and are prioritising public services.

If Reform get in it will be the fault of the electorate for voting them in, not Keir Starmer! People need to look at Reform’s Russia links following Nathan Gill’s prosecution. And Farage’s alleged involvement school boy antisemitism is vile.

Anotherlurkingmale · 01/12/2025 19:22

There have been more than a few disappointments with current government but can't agree with those claiming 'worst government/worst budget ever etc' - people must have very short memories.

They've done good work on transport, devolved powers, forthcoming employee rights bill, renter's rights bill and increasing public sector pay (badly needed, especially for NHS) but they have been too nasty and needlessly authoritarian on disability cuts, proscribing Palestine Action and cosying up to big developers and tech giants who ride roughshod over environment.

I agree that messaging has been poor and they really need to show backbone instead of worrying about Reform. For example the country's economy desperately needs closer relationship with Europe but they're still terrified of offending Brexit supporters despite the overwhelming evidence of damage leaving EU has done to economy.

People keep posting that Reform councils are putting up council tax as if it some kind of gotcha. The Reform councils are putting council tax up less than Labour councils surely that is the important bit, Labour misrun Birmingham have put tax up 7.5% and they still don't empty the bins.

Staffordshire and Kent Reform councils, put up council by 4.99%, same as almost all other councils in England.

Despite being elected on a promise not too.

The important bit is you making stuff up.

Previous counsellors left pot holes for 5 years. Within 6 months of Reform lots of big potholes were filled in. The previous counsellors used to contribute tax payers money to the Pride march. Reform told them if they wanted to march they would have to pay for it themselves. They are focusing on SN DC, potholes and next focus is ensuring community centre will be able to be booked by all.

The Pride march costs, wouldn't fill many potholes, so your council (like my Tory one & the LD one next door, that was Reform, until they all quit!) use the money this Labour Government has given them to fix roads.

Yes, the Labour government has increased funding for local road maintenance, by a total of £1.6 billion in 2025/6, an increase of nearly 50% from the previous year. This funding aims to fix an additional million potholes each year in England, but a portion of the funding will be withheld from councils that do not meet transparency and reporting requirements. Councils must publish details on how they are using the funds to be eligible for the full amount

So nothing to do with gay bashing and all to do with this Govt.

I voted Labour and was relieved that they would get in, with all their adults in the room talk. Of course knew there would need to be tough times. What I didn't agree with was extra spending on benefits and lifting the two child cap in the midst of these crisis talks, penalising middle earners even more for no reason.

Well Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, SNP, Plaid, Green, DUP, SDLP, Independent will be around then. Perhaps not Reform, that could possibly change.

As I said, definitely not Labour, conservative or reform so maybe Lib Dem, green or independent. Depends on policies at the time though.

Indeed.

No idea what you’re on about. As said your badgering on Reform was better suited to someone voting for them. Read their posts and ask about policies, go for it.

Labour are not doing well, it has nothing to do with a few posters on here. Aim your ire at your party instead.

And yet you seem quite defensive and not at all proud of whatever party, apart from Labour - that's a given -, you support. Why don't you just say it?

So what? You need me to like your party, why?

Your approval rating is incredibly low, most people don’t think they’re doing well. Fixating on a few mners isn’t going to change that.

So pot holes and flags with a sprinkling of racism.

What about the other services?

Labour have told councils to fix pot holes, and are incentivising them to do so

It's not a Reform victory, it's a Labour one

I’m perfectly happy with them. After all that 15 year austerity Tory horror show which involved a revolving door parade of shit Prime Ministers, fucking Brexit, and a bungled pandemic response, this government is a breath of fresh air.

Totally agree.

So you’d remove the triple lock which forms the majority of the benefits bill?

Total benefits bill £313 billion

Pensions & pensioner-related support (state pension, pension credit, pensioner housing benefit, WFA
£150.7 billion - 48%

Working Age benefits (including Working People on low wages)
£117.6 billion

Health/Disabilty (including 1/5th on Pensioners)
£41.4 billion

Child/Family benefits
£13.3 billion

Other welfare related inc Northern Ireland social security -
£19.9 billion

I would look at everything and ensure that it’s fair and proportional to what is needed and can be afforded.

That article is literally about how J P morgan are throwing the government a few sweeties in exchange for no tax rises. Maybe the hospitality/farming industries etc just couldn't come up with enough sweeties.

It’s literally about more than that, you didn’t read to the end, did you?
