I’m amazed the armbands work but have heard great things. I will fe considering these aa an addition on my next trip.

I get bitten alive! After anthistamine tablets didn’t work for a recent bite that had swollen up half my leg,I was given Anthisan cream at the chemist. It took the swelling and itch away within a few hours. It’s a miracle cure I will be taking on holiday forevermore!

Also I always take jungle formula bug deterrent when I go away to slap on my arms and legs at night.

Past mistakes have taught me that whatever you do, don’t have a pre-dinner shower and then go out smelling all sweet and tasty as you will be a walking feast for mozzies.

Jungle formula 50% maximum deed off Amazon is good.

Get a decent repellent, I have to use DEET

I was destroyed by bites this year.
2 biggies on my face and 2 on one of my hands plus another 16 on other parts of my body. I never had them so bad.
I wish I had seen this thread before I went abroad and stocked up or knew what to get in the pharmacy.
It was almost 6 weeks ago now but the scars are still there though fortunately the ones on my face haven’t scarred.

Moskinto plasters applied as soon as you feel the bite. You can buy them on Amazon and they’re the only thing that work for me. Try them for your next holiday!

I live somewhere we get a LOT of mozzies and I'm always the one to get bitten on any patch of bare skin. Or even through clothes.
If I use the £1 wipes from Home Bargains I get hardly any bites. I have a huge stock of them and been using them for years with great success. I swear by then.

This is an interesting podcast that tests all repellants and no, Avon SSS just doesn’t cut it.

I react badly to bites and whenever I’m away I take a daily oral antihistamine from before I go. It makes a huge difference.

the after bite pens are good or hydrocortisone cream one you’re bitten.

Second vote for bite away pen. I also have a heat stick thing (does the same as the hot water trick), a soothing cream for bites, and there’s a bite sucker you can buy off amazon that’s incredibly cheap and works wonders, it’s called a “bug bite thing”. Keep yourself covered up at night and use deet. In case you can’t tell, they love me, and it’s not reciprocated 😂.

After bite is the only thing that works for me.

Calamine lotion dabbed on with cotton wool or a flannel isn't a bad second option, and sudocrem is also OK.

As someone who also gets bitten to death in the south of Spain, much so it ruined one holiday, Jungle Formula Extra Strong is the only thing that works for me now. On it goes each early evening. Just open doors to outside when you apply it as its strong stuff and can get on your chest while spraying. I usually have 20 plus bites. Last time, I had none and it was the height of mozzie season.

Do not overuse hydrocortisone, especially 2 or 2.5%.That’s strong . As any doctor would tell you, it thins the skin.

Arnica gel from a pharmacy.

You can get HC cream at a pharmacist, the lower strength one. I have skeeter syndrome and it's the only thing that works for me. And iral anti histamine. Anything else on the skin just seems to make it worse.

I have found Incognito to be excellent as a deterrent. Works for ticks too.

I was bitten a lot on Menorca recently, the pharmacist gave me Neosayomol 20mg cream which I put on every 3-4 hours. It really helped, too away the itchy burn and they healed quickly too.

Have you tried paracetamol ? Treat the bites as pain rather than itch. That does really help. Also Superdrug” Buzz Off “, Click Relief also is very good, for next time

Proper repellent (either DEET or permethrin), for starters. Forget that Avon myth. Plus covering up (especially ankles in evening!). Once I'm bitten, oral antihistamines help a bit (basically hayfever tablets, yes) but topically, I find 1% or 2% hydrocortisone cream is better than topical antihistamine cream. The bad news is it is generally prescription only even in European countries where it used to be OTC. There are nifty little round clear patches like tiny plasters that I've also had luck with but they are hard to find and the cost tends to add up ☹️

Virasoothe chicken pox cream works really well to take the itch away from bites.

Citronella wrist bands to keep the buggers away in the first place.

Beuer Mosquito Bite zapper. It's the techy version of a hot teaspoon. The heat breaks down the protein that causes the body's inflammatory response. Kills the itch dead and no scarring or swelling. It is intense, but works.

Heat also works for jellyfish stings and hornet stings. That was a fun week.

I live in Southern Spain for half the year. I’m always bitten no matter what sprays I use. The only thing I can do is to treat the bites when they happen. Get 2.5% hydrocortisone cream from the pharmacy. It’s the only thing that stops the itch for me and helps with lessening the scars.
