Neighbour has put up huge Unite the Kingdom flag

People who feel the need to wave flags outside their home etc are nutters. Applies to all flags. Best avoided.

I like the Union Jack. Don’t know about the lettering on it you describe, but aesthetically I think it’s a pretty flag in much the same way I like the American flag when on holiday there. I wouldn’t have my own flag pole though, that’s a bit OTT. Maybe some small union flags on special days etc.

I think it's perfectly legitimate for people to engage in legal protest about issues that they are concerned about. That is a fundamental right within our democracy, and I support that right regardless of whether or not I agree with those protests.

I also think it's perfectly legitimate for people to have concerns about the Israeli government's actions in Gaza, or about our own government's response to this. However, I don't think it's ever ok to use protests about Gaza as a vehicle for expressing antisemitic hatred, for suggesting that Jewish communities in the UK are somehoe responsible for events happening in another continent, or for making Jewish people here in the UK feel threatened or harassed in any way. And I would like to see appropriate action taken against anyone who is guilty of such behaviour.

Boundaries of land/nations are man made. We all come from the same pool. Some have different looks/customs/food/values. Humans are all mixed together, just look at your and other peoples genes. We are all the same just a different mix. Accept everyone you come in contact with for who they are as individuals. No borders for me.

Well obviously OP has to ignore it, there is no other action she can take really. But it’s still annoying, that would tick me off so much to have to look at that on a regular basis. I’m not surprised OP is annoyed/ disappointed about it.

Whenever I see a "Unite the Kingdom" flag I want to add the words "by showing tolerance and respect towards others" underneath. I'm hoping it's a short-lived thing. Maybe by Christmas your neighbours will have replaced it with a great big flashing snowman!

What does Unite the Kingdom mean? I haven’t seen this before on a flag.

I live in a flag free street luckily. I would worry if someone started to put them up because I am planning to move soon and I think it would affect property prices. Personally would not want to move in anywhere with lots of flags as I would immediately think it was a by downmarket with not very bright people living there.

Fair enough, I guess it might pass you by if you don't read/watch the news or keep up with current affairs. I think most people are probably aware of it though.

And I think anyone who was thinking of flying a flag with a particular slogan would at least take a minute to Google what that slogan was associated with before deciding to put it up. So I think it's safe to assume that those who choose to promote that particular message are fully aligned with the Tommy Robinson campaign.
