I mean, how many sweets must Haribo sell, to be able to afford to show their irritating ads SO often?

There's a radio advert that cringes me atm, with a woman singing in a reedy voice about a bio yoghurt or something, lol.

CinnamonBuns67 · 24/05/2026 14:57

Domino hoo hoo

And the Krispy Kreme one

ChillingWithMySnowmies · 24/05/2026 12:49

the current mcdonalds one where she yells "MCCRISPY" drives me nuts.

heartsinvisiblefury · 24/05/2026 12:47

The Robinsons one makes me so angry.

Haven't saw Derek and June(sun life)for a bit.
Perhaps they got it on and have a lovenest somewhere.

Is that the one where he is digging on the beach and he shouts out "IT'S A HOE!" and she has to act like his mother and nod encouragingly?

noctilucentcloud · 20/05/2026 16:55
  • jet2 hold you hand
  • virgin train with the puppet
  • ribena 99 red balloons advert, I used to like the song and Ribena, now I'm feeling grumpy about both!
  • the holiday company with the most wonderful time of the year song
MoonWoman69 · 20/05/2026 16:29

I was coming back on to mention the revolting Andrex one, but I see someone mentioned it a little further up! Just why do we need to know and see that?! And the fact it goes on so long. Just no.
The cat with the shoe hat is my favourite though, it's like something my two would do! 🤣

twoshedsjackson · 20/05/2026 14:47

I thought the ad for Robinson's squash had gone away, but irritatingly, it's back.
Mum makes all the right noises when spoken to about son's silly, disruptive behaviour, then, when they get home, soles out the dissolved Enumbers and lapses into conspiratorial giggles with him.
I doubt that the teacher would have taken the trouble to take her aside "for a chat" unless he was being a thorough-going nuisance. life's too short, so her behaviour is undermining at the least. The child needs a parent, not a partner in crime (who may well be panicking in a few years' time, when her lovable wee rogue is beyond her control.

Helpnifoseeker · 20/05/2026 10:31

It'd be quicker to tell you the one ad I DO like- the TK Max on with the cat with a shoe for a hat! I think it's quite funny and that's rare these days!
Otherwise , I find most ads to be inane, boring, annoying or even disgusting (period blood, cartoon poos , that great long Andrex ad about women pooing during labour, period "gush" and women wetting themselves! Why? Just why?) When did advertisers and businesses decide being so crude and vulgar will sell their products? We know what period blood and poo etc. look like, we don't need to have them shoved in our faces like that when we're trying to relax and unwind with a bit of telly! Yuk!
The one that is really annoying me at the moment though is the smart meter one with Sarah Cox and the old fella playing Albert Einstein! It's trying to be funny but it's just not! I have to mute it now, it gets on my nerves so much!

And the one where they returned Dad's ashes and stayed for a cup of tea!

The simple cremation plan my cousin had for my auntie definitely wasn't like that. They were allowed to stand outside the chapel door as coffin went through, but not go in 😳

Greensleevesonadress · 20/05/2026 09:05

Any ones where they dance, why? The fage one in particular, especially since you can't get hold of my favourite 2%for love nor money.also the funeral ones so depressing, the trifle one is awful.

CoffeeCantata · 20/05/2026 08:36

Oddly I liked the ones for ....was it Go Compare? where everyone, including a cat sitting on a wall, sprouted a waxed moustache. I think it was a reference back to the original GC adds with the 'Italian' tenor.

I loved that cat!

Dontcallmescarface · 20/05/2026 08:28

The Varisure ads. A nursery nativity play is more convincing than that rubbish.

MoonWoman69 · 19/05/2026 13:22

The funeral one where she says her dad hated waste... when everyone has gone home and she's stood next to a counter full of mostly uneaten food, including a full trifle!

The Robinsons one, which I see is doing the rounds again. Total lack of respect, I don't know what they were thinking with that ad at all.

Any laundry one.

And the programme sponsor one for Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhkoda! Makes me want to scream! 😡

JLMA · 19/05/2026 12:53

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 18/05/2026 22:05

The horrible advert with the 'extra mouth' on the forehead.

Yes. Definitely this one. And then the Holland and Barrett advert with the singing knees and tums.

also all the supermarkets and takeaways doing close ups of food. It actually turns me

CoffeeCantata · 19/05/2026 11:27

And also the holiday ads, especially for cruises where an elegant young couple stroll down the stairs alone in to a vast concourse on their way to dinner on the ship. My in laws did a few cruises (reluctantly - with insistent friends) and they told a very different story!

And the resorts where your family has the pool etc to themselves....or a deserted beach. Yeah, right.

CoffeeCantata · 19/05/2026 11:25

The Domino one is so bad it's good - like the ancient Shake'n'vac one, with the manic vacuum-cleaning woman. I think that one won awards because it did its job - people remembered the name of the product!

I watch Sky Arts and Talking Pictures TV a lot (love, love old black and white films) and oh boy, the funeral plan ads drive me crazy. It's not the obvious aspect (that they're depressing). It's that they're so unbelievably awful, false, contrived and pathetic. The only one that doesn't annoy me is Sue Cook sitting on a park bench, just telling you the info. It's the ridiculous family party set-ups where people have had a booze-up instead of a funeral and are blathering on about how Dad would have wanted it that way.

Or the awful one where the woman says she's learning Ju-jitsu.

We usually mute adds and go to the loo or make a cup of tea, but I do occasionally get caught out.

Wiseplumant · 19/05/2026 09:06

The 'gush' moments, for ( I can't remember which brand!) sanitary towels, tmi. No problem with advertising them, but maybe I'm a bit old fashioned.

TheExcitersblowingupmymind · 19/05/2026 08:30

All clear insurance..need I say more.

CommonCents · 19/05/2026 02:58

The stupidly infantile meerkats. If you buy insurance because of poorly voiced animatronics, then you deserve what you (don't) get.

Oxo01 · 19/05/2026 02:35

The one advertising a stair lift at grandparents house.

The child in bed saying shes forgot teddy, then her rabbit or whatever.

He goes down / up via s/lift, then before he gets down 2nd time for rabbit granny appears at bottom of stairs with it like a clairvoyant.

The acting by all is ridiculous and I certainly wouldnt be up and down for different soft toys via stairs or a stair lift all night 😂

Denim4ever · 18/05/2026 22:35

The music Tui use is weird and a bit downbeat.

There are way too many ads where appealing to the masses seems to mean every 'ing' is pronounced 'in' .

On the upside, I've noticed that the equity release ads have disappeared. Perhaps that means it's the next big financial scandal.

SparklyGlitterballs · 18/05/2026 22:06

It was one of those short sponsorship ads that get played every break in a certain show, possibly MAFS. It was TUI and in this particular ad a woman was digging a huge hole on a beach near the water and disappeared into it. I couldn't believe how utterly stupid that was. It's so dangerous and people have died from collapsing sand tunnels.

The rangemaster one where they act like the new oven is a new baby. It's just not funny.

My sister and I hate that one, too. They're obviously trying to use surprise/shock to entertain, but it falls completely flat with us, when the actual baby's face lights up at the sight of her grannies and other relatives, and they just ignore him/her. I grind my teeth and snarl "those people are not just shallow - they're monsters!" I wouldn't buy a Rangemaster even if I could afford it and like entertaining.
