To fucking cry about this

Hi,

i know posts like this sometimes get accused of being a troll- I’m not, I’m a long time poster but I’ve namechanged for obvious reasons.

possible TMI as I’m talking about female issues but I could honestly sob I’m so down about this all. Sorry for swearing in the title but tbh it sums up perfectly how I feel

I’ve had issues with vaginal discharge for a while and after another particularly bad day of it I actually feel like I’m at my wits end and could burst into tears. It’s quite literally ruining my life. I’ve always had issues with it but recently it’s changed - it used to be normals/whiteish etc but just a lot of it, but over the last few months it’s changed- I’m getting more of the white discharge and an insane amount of other discharge- it’s so watery that it’s soaking my underwear and trousers. I work in retail and today at work I suddenly realised I had a huge patch of discharge which had soaked through my trousers and left a patch probably around 6cm by 6cm. It was the worst shift of my life trying to hide it. I didn’t even realise at the time it had happened which is what scares me most because I can’t tell until I see it on my own trousers.

I don’t know why this is happening. It’s not pregnancy or STI ( I’ve never had sex), I’m in my mid 20s and when I went to the doctor before they said it’s normal. I understand that it can be normal, and previously I was getting a lot of white discharge so that’s normal for me- but now there’s significantly more and to the point I regularly look like I’ve peed myself. I’ve had hormone blood tests which were fine and now I’ve just been left to get on with it and frankly I could fucking cry about it

I tried tampons but I’d basically have to wear tampons everyday which isn’t great, and same with sanitary towels because it dries my skin. But the other alternative is I’m walking about looking like I’ve peed myself without realising

has anyone else ever had this and have any clue wtf it could be? Google says pregnancy or STI which it’s not, and my hormones are fine, but I just don’t feel like this is right and my friends the same age as me don’t get this. Otherwise I’m fine apart from bleeding in between periods but the doctor wasn’t concerned about that- it started a few months ago and only happened a few times, but I don’t get any cramps or pain so they said it’s fine

if anyone knows what tf this could be and how I can fix it I would be so so grateful

obviously I can’t say for sure but honestly it doesn’t feel like normal vaginal secretions to me

ive literally had days where ive had to change my underwear and trousers several times throughout the day or else id have a massive patch as if ive peed myself - not just a tiny bit of discharge, I’m talking completely covered

none of my friends have had this and it’s only started for me a few months ago, maybe it is normal and I’m wrong but it really doesn’t feel like it

It doesn't sound normal at all.

Everyone is different but although you might get more discharge at certain times of the month, it shouldn't be constant.

BV is a fairly generic term and just means your vaginal flora has got out of balance, you need a specialised clinic to analyse what meds you need to sort it out. It causes so much worry but is sorted out so quickly and easily. With luck, your local hospital will have a good GUI clinic. Don't be shy about going, you will wish you had done it sooner.

basketolympia · 28/09/2025 10:35

I’m lactose intolerant, and get a lot of discharge if I have lactose; DD is the same.

Miyagi99 · 28/09/2025 10:28

Definitely go to your local sexual heath (actually called genitourinary medicine clinic so not just about STIs etc). They can do swabs and blood tests there, they’ll be more thorough than your GP usually. You can book online.

Fresh cocunut shell (or dried , I had dried ) daily a little chunk 1inch dried me right up. (Suggested to me by my mums friend)

I used to have so much I have to have panty liners.

the coconut really works only downside is I have to keep having it otherwise it comes back.

if you try it can you please come back and update if it works for you too?

Do you mean you ate a piece of hard coconut shell every day?

OP hasn’t had a sexual relationship so can’t have cervical cancer.

I'm not sure that this is true.

I didn't have sex until quite late, so I read a lot about it and there was not a definite answer.

Aimtodobetter · 28/09/2025 10:15

If it’s clear liquid and not blood maybe get some very light incontinence pads - I’ve found they are less irritating and you can get very light ones from Tena.

Julieju1 · 28/09/2025 10:13

I've no idea about the discharge but agree with others that seeing your GP and pushing for a gynae referral is needed.
In addition to this, maybe a women's health physio appointment would be helpful, they can help with pelvic floor issues.
Could the clear discharge be pee? You could probably confirm this by using tampons for a few days, if it is pee, a Physio can usually help.

MyNameIsErinQuin · 28/09/2025 10:12

I had exactly this. After lots of heavy bleeding, I had a hysteroscopy and had a fibroid peeping through my cervix. That was removed there and then, problem solved.

Justgorgeous · 28/09/2025 10:10

Period pants over the moon cup, but that’s just my opinion. Get to your GP or the nurse. Good luck and well done for coming on and sharing, it will also help others. x

Mischance · 28/09/2025 10:09

Can you afford a private gynae appointment?

Waterweight · 28/09/2025 10:07

Following out of curiosity as I've had this before & noticed it the other day randomly. thankfully not at work & was able to cover myself as I was carrying bags

Hope you get it sorted. It must be difficult to have it long term 🙁

usedtobeaylis · 28/09/2025 10:00

You need to go back to the doctor, ask to see another one. Check if your GP surgery has a dedicated women's health GP. You shouldn't need to be inserting period products daily to deal with with this. It isn't normal and I'm so tired of women being fobbed off. The weight of this must be seriously impacting you. Please keep pushing - you're the only one that can advocate for you properly. Be 'that' person.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Going to look on Amazon now for period underwear and search up some local sexual health clinics

the other thing I meant to mention and just realised I forgot is I keep getting this feeling after peeing where I need to go again, and then I have to squeeze out a bit more for the feeling to go away. Sounds silly but previously I just peed and then the sensation to pee went away but now it doesn’t until I actively squeeze really hard to make sure I’ve completely peed, and it’s like I have to squeeze every last drop out, and even then I still feel like I need to go sometimes. I’ve had urine tests and they were all fine, they gave me a course of antibiotics in case I had a uti but it didn’t help. Again, that started a few months ago too

Honestly it’s been the worst few months ever with this and today felt like the final straw completely

Edited

Could it be overactive bladder (look it up)?

Good luck OP!

Endofyear · 28/09/2025 09:52

With all the symptoms you describe, I'd go back to GP (see a different GP if you can, maybe a female GP? Our GP surgery has a female GP who runs women's clinics for gynaecological issues, maybe ask if yours does) and I'd push for a referral to a gynaecologist. You shouldn't be left to struggle with this, it sounds awful and I'm not surprised you're feeling down. Look after yourself lovely 💐

User79853257976 · 28/09/2025 09:41

Have you tried period pants?

Lougle · 28/09/2025 09:38

@Fedup19473 I just wanted to add to the chorus. This isn't something you should have to put up with and you shouldn't have to be sexually active for it to be taken seriously. Go back and explain how often you're having to change and that it isn't just a variation of normal. Tell them it's affecting every aspect of your daily life and that you can't get through a normal work day without changing.

Solost92 · 28/09/2025 09:35

The boots BV and thrush treatment is great at just resetting me when somethings abit wrong.

But yeah if it is your normal then period pants would be best, you can get them that just look like normal underwear so just use them as your go to normal.

Christwosheds · 28/09/2025 09:34

TeddySchnauzer · 28/09/2025 01:21

Increased levels of vaginal discharge is a symptom of cervical cancer so I’m horrified that the doctor hasn’t taken it seriously. Have you ever had a smear, OP? @Fedup19473

OP hasn’t had a sexual relationship so can’t have cervical cancer.

You might have to explain exactly what OP is supposed to do with the the fresh (or dried) coconut shell 🤔

Could it be a lost tampon? I experienced similar watery discharge as a teenager and an internal exam found that I'd inserted a new tampon without taking the old one out. Once removed, the problem disappeared. Wishing you well x

@Fedup19473 this sounds awful but there’s some great advice on this thread and hopefully you can find an answer.

my mum had a similar thing when I was a teen - she told me about it later - but she’d forgotten to take a tampon out and it was wedged way up inside her. She had terrible discharge apparently and had to be removed by doctor. Am guessing maybe you e had an internal and a smear already though as part of your elimination process? If not, it’s worth adding to your list of things to try.

Moonflower12 · 28/09/2025 09:24

You might have a ‘overgrowth’ of a naturally occurring bacteria in your vagina called Gardnerella. This can cause very liquid discharge in large quantities. I know as I had similar symptoms a long time ago. It is not an STI but just one of those things.
It was easily cleared up with a course of antibiotics.

My son had what to me clearly looked like a UTI- frequent urination, urine leaking/ urgency to pee, pain when he peed, and he went to the GP and his urine tests were all negative and they gave him broad spectrum antibiotics just in case too, nothing changed.

I had to push them to look again. They eventually found it WAS a UTI, something a bit more uncommon, they couldn't see it on the first tests. It needed to be treated with a specific antibiotic to clear it (and even then it took three increasingly strong doses of it as by that time it was really taking hold!).

I'm not sure your symptoms necessarily sound like a UTI but after our experience I do warn people that sometimes those first tests can be wrong. But UTI wee is in my experience very stinky/ potent. I don't think you could mistake it as wee.

333FionaG · 28/09/2025 09:06

Are you 100% sure it's vaginal discharge and not urine leaking? You describe having urinary symptoms as well. It may be a bladder problem. Keep fighting for a diagnosis, and treatment, no-one should have to live life this way.

Cervical ectropion (not as dramatic as it sounds) can lead to increased discharge. Ask your GP for a gynae referral. I hope you get some answers soon 🤞🏻

I have this- they picked it up at my last smear (I had no idea). I do also get the occasional 'gush' of discharge too - not so bad I worry about it going beyond my pants but enough for my underwear to be uncomfortably wet for a while afterwards.
