Why does everyone say they love being fat until they get their hands on skinny jabs?

I’m seeing this so much on social media. People screaming from the rooftops how they love their bodies. Hate comments come and they combat them with body positivity, I admired them so much.

Lately though, the very people who were oh-so-body-positive are popping back up five stone lighter. Some comment on it and some don’t, as if they’re waiting for people to ask. Hang on a minute, I thought you loved your big body? Did you love being fat or not?

Sounds very unlucky.

Yes she was every ones different but sometimes when one says something everyone digs in for no reason.

I could always lose without WLIs, maintenance was my issue

But the losing had to become obsessive. I fought hunger the whole way. I would have convince my brain that feeling hunger was pleasurable / desirable / winning. It had to be ED mentality even if I wasn't under eating too drastically calorie wise. It was never sustainable

Because I was NEVER NOT HUNGRY. If I ate a sandwich for lunch, it felt like I had eaten nothing all day. So I would add crisps, a banana, a coffee, a juice, just to feel like I had eaten SOMETHING. Anything at all. 3 coffees after that just to keep me going through the afternoon.

I felt the same at 9 stone as at 13 stone. It did not go away just because I pushed through it and lost weight.

All I'm doing by taking WLIs is making myself feel how YOU feel, if you eat a normal breakfast, a normal lunch, a normal snack and a normal dinner. I couldn't even achieve that level of satisfaction by OVER eating without WLIs.

I expect to be on WLIs long term
If you don't get it, well, see how YOU feel? That's all we are aiming for on WLIs

What?! Being fat is absolutely a choice.

Im overweight but not obese. I could do with losing a few kg.

However in order to be the size of some of the body positivity movement women (easily 10 stone overweight) i have no idea how to get that size. I have no idea how i would be able to eat that much in order to be that size.

It is a choice

I’m about 10st ish overweight.

I’ve got there with a binge eating disorder due to trauma, very high levels of stress, ingrained emotional eating, interoception issues (I never feel full), and possibly a large dose of my life is so shit that nothing I can do to myself can make it worse.

I don’t know anyone with that much weight to lose who doesn’t have deep seated psychological problems which manifest as binge eating. And there lies the problem of losing it. When you have a stressful life and the only thing that brings you comfort is food, it’s nigh on impossible to lose weight and stick to it - as studies have shown.

Mounjaro is like a miracle drug to people like me. I’ve noticed there’s a real taboo about being open about it, because some can react nastily, like you’re taking an easy option, and we all know that there are people out there who’d rather see really fat people suffer as their punishment for daring to be fat. For some though it’s the only option.

No i wont, last time i spoke up on MN about it i was torn down so i wont do that again.
But my sister is going through a hell of a time with all the above and i tried to tell people about it on hear.
But got abuse instead.

Sounds very unlucky.

1 large apple is not 134 calories.

Plenty of online sources suggest they are. Two digestives then? One and a bit bananas? A bag of ready salted crisps?
My point is that one small snack a day above you calorie requirements is a stone gained per year.

People have been getting botox and filler for 25-30 years without issues. But okay then I will wait for the crash.

okay.

Skinny jabs botox and fillers will all come crashing down in the end.
When a lot of people wake up about it and realise its not all what it seems.

Correct about what - prices coming down? No guarantees obviously but history suggests that's what will happen.

Correct about it not having disastrous long term side effects.

No-one gains 10 stone in weeks though, it takes years. If it takes 10 years (using myself as an example) then it's just 134 calories over your TDEE per day. That's one large apple.
Some people will have gained a lot of weight through binging on pizza and chocolate but plenty of other have slowly gained for years.

Where you say "I wouldn't be able to eat that much" ....

That's exactly the whole point.

Nobody who needs WLIs was eating BEYOND satisfaction.

They're not feeling full.... THEN STILL EATING, like you would have to if you were to aim for obesity

You are not the same
You are not walking around with the same food feedback loops happening in your own body
Therefore what works for you could not work for us

Why is this so hard for people to grasp?

And all the while, as I'm more angry inside, people still like me MORE.

When I was happier inside but fat, every question was met with an eye roll, my contributions to conversation were read as annoying, boring, even aggressive..

Now that I AM actually feeling a bit aggressive, and do even MEAN to be rude at times, I'm listened to, taken seriously, and appreciated for what I have to say

It's infuriating.

And then all the people telling us (ex fatties) how much HAPPIER we are now ARGH! 😤

I'm happy to be healthier and to reduce my risk of dying on my family

I'm happy to be able to shop ethically in line with my environmental concerns: 2nd hand and eco brands i much more accessible for certain sizes. I don't have to buy fast fashion brands, and yes I did HAVE to, f* off anyone who thinks it's a choice over a certain size!

I'm happy about the other side effects of WLIs: focus, cured caffeine addiction, pain relief

I'm happy that WLIs take away the noise that was preventing me from taking my time with food prep so I can role model healthy lifestyles to my family.

But please fcking fCK off telling me and everyone else that I only like MYSELF this way!!!!!

I'm the same damn person I was when you looked at me and only saw "SAD FAT LADY" and losing weight has not been the most interesting thing I've done in life, not is it my biggest achievement!

My biggest self sabotage is that people start to treat me better when I’ve lost weight, and it never makes me think “phew, I’m losing weight, isn’t this lovely” it makes me think “you bunch of fuckers, I was the same person when fat, you’re just judgemental wankers” and put the weight back on. Just to spite them. (Not totally but I’m not ruling that out!).

Its very strange how posters are angry at me, when they should be angry at the corrupt doctors accepting bribes, and a system that allows this to happen.

Many individuals and organisations keep calling for more transparency of the money that doctors receive. But it hasnt happened yet

Edited

I think it might be because, given the lack of available evidence to the contrary, people do not believe that doctors are accepting bribes. It's an incredibly serious accusation to make, one which would result in immediate dismissal.

In the UK, prescriptions tend to be for the generic name, not a brand name. For example if a Semaglutide was prescribed by a doctor, the pharmacy you choose would either prescribe Ozempic, Wegovy, or Rybelsus. In that case, it wouldn't be possible for the doctor to know what you end up with. Any more than if they say 'take paracetamol', they won't know if you end up buying Nurofen or Tesco's own. So there is no way for a particular pharmaceutical company to know if they can pay an individual bribe to an individual doctor.

The articles you've posted are a bit more general than this, they're saying the pharma companies are engaging in poor marketing practice. Perhaps trying to encourage doctors to prescribe their drugs, yes, but certainly not by offering a pay per pill bribe. Pharma companies are often inherently unethical but that isn't the same as saying either the drugs are therefore not effective or required.

It is a choice

In one breath you say you can't imagine being obese

And in another you declare that you can say with authority that obesity is a choice, same as being a bit overweight in a way that's easily fixable with a bit of the ol' traditional diet n exercise

Gaining a few pounds and getting a bit tight in the waistband is not the same as living with obesity.

You don't become obese simply from having a run of celebrations in a row, or not hitting the gym over the school holidays

It's not the same process with the same factors feeding into it!

Yes it's evolved, move on, you've said your piece and didn't get the reaction you hoped for.

You keep asking the same questions but wanting different answers.

You're going round in circles whilst the rest of us are trying to have some sort of on going dialogue

"Didnt get the reaction i hoped for".

Lol. Imagine me sitting here "hoping for a reaction".

Eh, no i wasnt.

i was asked to provide facts and i did.
That was enough for me.

WLI won't be as expensive as they currently are forever - the Ozempic/ Wegovy patent expires soon, so generic versions will become available and reduce costs drastically.
It's costing me £29/ week on average though, which is affordable for me but I'm also saving on reduced food bills and not having much interest in Deliverooing. If costs don't come down though, £29/ week for life as an investment on my health feels like the best possible use for my money.
And yes, many people will be looking at it for life, just as they do for many other medications for blood pressure, depression etc. Looking at it long term might have been a better approach for your sister than what sounds like a crash diet. As we all know from years of experience those rarely succeed long term, with or without the help of WLI. It's no more unsustainable and unnatural as a long term plan than my wearing contact lenses or using deodorant for life.

I hope you are correct.

Umm..not to be a twat but there's no such thing as a 1.1 You can have a 3rd, 2.2, a 2.1 or a 1st.

I didn't go to University in the U.K.

But I just looked up what they call it in the U.K.

I am looking at websites about degree grading in the UK, and some say a first and they also have (1.1) in brackets, so apparently the term is also used in the U.K.

If you want to go back to the original discussion it is fine.

I feel that I have said all that I wanted to say about Doctors being bribed at this point.

Thank god for that!
