Name something unhygienic/disgusting but people do it

I start off:
. Holding money their mouths. It’s mainly an elderly person thing. Friends working in retail see this often. Even in mask wearing days, customers lowered masks to do this, yet denied it.
. Going to the toilet and not flushing
. Washing chicken out. People don’t realise that this can spray bacteria around. Cooking it properly will kill bacteria.
. Coughing without covering mouth. Even with Covid, people are still doing this.
. Not washing hands after using loo. In public toilets, I use hand sanitiser as seen people from certain cultures spit and mums letting their toddler DS to wee in the basins.
. On planes, people walking barefooted especially in toilets. With the quick turnaround of planes, the staff can’t clean everywhere

Not sure if it has been mentioned but number 1 is wiping your bottom after doing a number 2 with just tissue.

Incase you ask what the alternative is. Washing your bottom!! Washing your bottom is the alternative!! Literally most other cultures do this!!!
You wouldn't just have poo on any other part of your body and wipe with tissue, you would wash it, why is the bottom any exception?!?
Phew, been meaning to get that off my chest for a while....

So firstly I'm clearly a dirty bastard by some people's standards.

Secondly, I'd put money on the fact that the extremely obsessive sanitary police have generally more sickly and less robust offspring because they have been given no chance to build up any natural immunity to any germs

Finally, for the people clutching their pearls about 'filthy animals' in beds, on furniture, breathing the same air and just actually having the audacity to exist etc, you do realise that humans are animals, right?

I honestly never knew about the toilet lid down when flushing thing till on here about 2 weeks ago

It gets wet. I dont like a wet tea towel hanging about.

But if you hang up the tea towel it dries!

I honestly couldn't live my life thinking like this. I bet its so tiring!

It isn’t tiring but it is extremely stressful when so many people seem to have zero concern for the impact that their hygiene habits have on other people around them

But a teatowel just dries clean dishes/cutlery that have literally just been washed! How is it germy?

Had a conversation with my SiL about flannels. She doesn't ever wash hers because it gets washed everyday in the shower. Errr nope.
Customers dogs being fussed in cafes by members of staff. Then they go back to making sandwiches, picking up plates etc with their dog shit - bacteria covered hands because it never occurs to them to wash them.
People carrying small dogs with the dogs backside resting on their arm That shirt/ jumper sleeve is covered in dog shit particles from your dog's anus. Revolting.

Sitting on the train sniffing for ages and not blowing their nose so we can all hear them sucking up their snot the entire journey.

JC, Thankfully I've been spared this one 🤢...
Err, all of the above (except doggies on the bed), but men spitting on the street is just vile!

Also, I should add, I have 2 large breed, very hairy dogs, so I don't think I have a disorder. I just dont agree with the idea of keeping a germ laden cloth around to reuse.

I use my cloth multiple times but I do leave it in soak in bleach each night.

RaraRachael · 02/07/2025 19:29

My mother always used a washing up bowl or basin as we call it. I don't.
I don't get the hatred for using one or just using the sink 🤔

ObtuseMoose · 02/07/2025 08:53

What on earth are you putting in the bathroom bin that needs bagging and removing from the house immediately?

Radio active poo?

NegroniMacaroni · 02/07/2025 07:10

Washing up bowl.

Why?

Kazzybingbong · 02/07/2025 19:22

Using sanitiser instead of washing is gross. Most of them don’t kill Norovirus and that’s the main reason to wash your hands after the toilet.

They quite often have tassells of shit there. Klingons I believe they're called.

We always called them clinkers or my dad would call them dingleberries.

The teenage boys and men who I see far too often who constantly have one or both hands down their trousers touching their bits and pieces. I think it’s totally vile and inappropriate. 3 of them stood at the bus stop like it the other day and got on the bus and removed their hands from their pants to hold the hand rails with their sweaty penis and ball hands 🤮🤮🤮

Every men under 50 I’ve known has done it, it’s like they’re worried it’s fallen off and constantly need to check.

I once worked in a supermarket and it was a sweltering day and this sweaty huge breasted lady proceeded to search for her money in her bra. She was most offended at the horror on my face as she tried to pass me the soggy (pre polymer) note. I still shudder at the mammary, I mean memory 😂

😂😂😂

Placing your handbag/briefcase/rucksack on kitchen counter or dining table. Filthy from train floors, offices etc.

Walking into a hotel room and throwing your luggage onto the bed. Straight from the plane, airport floor etc.

Handbag on floor of public toilet.

Shoes on the bed.

Light switches, remote controls and headboards in hotel rooms.

If this makes me weird then so be it.

I don't get the para/sentence that begins 'light switches'? Maybe you are thinking people touch them, but how can the light or tv work without them. Re headboard, I don't think I especially use one as I never read/sit up in bed but hotels/anywhere without them look wrong/cheap/missing something
