To think Tattle life isn’t actually that bad?

Firstly I am not a member, but I do have a read occasionally. I’m sure that there’ll be people here who don’t know what it is, or have never read it, so feel free to ignore. The website is always in the news and there’s a lot of uproar about it.

From what I’ve read and seen on Tattle, it’s no worse/different from the way people speak about celebs and sometimes to each other on mumsnet and other forums. There have been plenty of vicious threads on here about people. Tabloids have always trolled celebs too and they get away with it. Even posting unflattering photos with snidely headlines.

The only difference is tattle is mainly solely about discussing/criticising celebs/influencers.

A lot of influencers tell many lies and exploit their young children in order to sell crap to the public and people on tattle seem to call them out on their lies. Which I don’t think is always a bad thing.

I don’t really get the uproar about this particular website.

I found Tattle when I googled Jack Monroe, I was suspicious how she could still be broke after so many books, tv appearances etc. It was illuminating to say the least. Same with Caroline Hirons (who is leading the charge atm to try and get tattle shut down 🙄), just wanted to see if anyone else found her totally hypocritical. Turns out they do!

I read the Strictly thread on there and it's absolutely hilarious. A little snarky sometimes but not too bad.

So you’re saying that spotting a content creator/influencer in your home town, following them around and taking videos and pictures of them is not bad?

Telling the forum “I know where they live” and because tabloids are “allowed to do it” that makes it okay?

Ringing up every school in the area to find out where their children go to school and then reporting them to Social Services is acceptable and not that bad?

The above is an unhealthy obsession with someone you don’t like to get validation from strangers on the internet.

I wonder if you’re one of the guilty ones who is panicking and deleted their threads, comments and accounts.

Also think that celebrities complaining about privacy when they’ve made their living out of sharing intimate details of their lives and filming inside their homes and their children’s private moments is very hypocritical.

They just want to be able to control what’s being said about them to keep a polished image,

I’m open to having my mind changed. Obviously I haven’t read every thread on there, and I wouldn’t know who half of the celebs are.

The ones I have read though, although a bit brutal and stalkerish, are generally exposing influencers for their lying and using their small children.

So to be honest, I think that filming your children on the toilet, in the bath, having a tantrum and posting it for millions to see just so that you can sell some tat, is pretty morally bankrupt itself.

The Daily Mail poss disgusting lies about all sorts of people day in day out.

I occasionally sections on true crime etc. There are some threads on there that are absolutely unhinged though where users are basically stalking people who have modest social media followings. I do think the tabloids/legacy media being critical is laughable though given their history of phone tapping, celeb gossip etc.

Edit to say I occasionaly read the the true crime sections. Not a member and I think closing membership has made some threads like celeb gossip boring, just the same old posters with nothing new.

I am a Tattle member … never go onto the threads about Instagrammers and Influencers, as I don’t know who any of them are.

I go on onto News, Politics, Current Affairs, True Crime, TV & Film. There us loads on there that is nothing to do with Celebs.

I think The Mail has a cheek, calling somewhere “hate filled” .. pot, kettle, black. Plus they lift stories directly from the site.

I wondered why it had such a bad reputation, too. I'd only dipped in a few times and the members seem really supportive and nice to each other. Then I looked at a thread about Alice (Evans? Not sure on her last name, but she was going through a divorce) after seeing a thread on here and googling her. The stuff on here wasn't particularly kind, but on Tattle it was absolutely brutal, and would have been taken down on MN.
