Parents hate the Childfree

Youstolemygoddamnhouse · 18/05/2025 08:18

Over the past few days there have been several post regarding children for example Our new Neighbours and my loud children and To think it's unacceptable to say you don't like children. in both posts there are hateful comments about Childfree people. The second post in particular never mentioned anything about childfree people but then people started making comments about them. Plenty of parents hate other children despite having them. Why do parents care so much about Childfree people and their choices? Are you jealous? Need validation? Why all the hate? Most importantly will you own up to it?

YABU - I don’t hate the childfree
YANBU - yes I hate the childfree

Is this thread going to be another where you claim all the "evidence" of hatred towards child free people.

In the same way you choose to misinterpret someone saying an able bodied single person who chooses not to work has no work ethic, as child free people don't deserve council houses.

Panterusblackish · 18/05/2025 16:31

Oh for gods sake, of course parents don't hate the child free.

For all we know the goady OP made the other post too.

HopscotchBanana · 18/05/2025 16:31

JenniferBooth · 18/05/2025 16:27

So child free people have no work ethic

Able bodied but choosing not to work people.

Nothing to do with kids.

HopscotchBanana · 18/05/2025 16:29

JenniferBooth · 18/05/2025 16:28

So we have now gone from "i cant see anything on that thread" to "thats what teadi was referring to"

Yes, the fact that it's NOT about being child free

No… I’m still no clearer sorry. Could you please try again? With punctuation?

JenniferBooth · 18/05/2025 16:24

The poster called teadi did. But instead of just clicking on the link you are getting off on wasting my time instead.

If this is what becoming a parent turns you into im glad i skipped it.

I wil take a punt you are single, don’t have friends or maybe do but always drama and issues and not close, and perhaps
don’t work or - if you do, have a very rocky relationship with colleagues and manager

because there is something very…. Odd here

ButteredRadish · 18/05/2025 16:28

I completely understand child-free people. I understand why some people have chosen not to have kids and I understand that far too many lovely people want kids are unable to have them. I also recognise that some single people want/wanted kids but never met the right person. Heck, I was one of those people until two forms of contraception failed (yes, two!) and I fell pregnant. I was fully resigned to being on my own.

That's what teadi was referring too.

*Single
and
child free
and
able bodied ie not in receipt of any disability benefit

so not telling someone childfree they shouldn’t get social housing because they are child free*

vookingmoney · 18/05/2025 16:27

I hate childless people who have 101 opinions on how I raise my children or how my friends raise their children. They are the worst, usually they are only acquaintances because they never get to the friends stage with me (probably because they are dicks)

I love my childless friends who are nice and who like my children though, they are great.

I really like to watch previously 'childfree by choice' people struggling with their children. But that's probably because I'm a dick 😅

JenniferBooth · 18/05/2025 16:27

HopscotchBanana · 18/05/2025 16:23

You're cherry picking solely "kids" out of single able bodied person without kids.

As you well know.

She's saying why should someone who could work to provide a roof over their head, just be handed a house. Which is a very simplistic view, granted. But it's about work ethic. Not being child free. The only relevance of "child" here is that they need housing and can't do that themselves.

So child free people have no work ethic

As in why should people without kids qualify for social housing?

When you buy your own house you can choose whichever size of property you like/can afford. Social housing is a different matter. I didn't even think single child free able bodied folk would qualify these days ( correct me if I'm wrong)

Yes. No issue there.

She wonders if there's no reason you can't work and put a roof over your own head, that you shouldn't be given free housing. That's about how much someone should be given when they have no immediate barrier to providing for themselves, with no disadvantages or dependents (who can not house themselves)

So pay for your own flat? You don't need the room if there's just you

Are you arguing that as one person, who needs one bedroom, you should be equally entitled to a two or three bedroom, that you want, but don't need? Then they are quite right. Pay for your own flat, or have the funded one of the size you are entitled too?

Where are you finding offence in that?

FigTreeInEurope · 18/05/2025 16:13

The child free are layabout scum of the earth and should hang their heads in shame. Bring back the stocks for them I say!

It's evolved, and people should have the manners not to go onto a forum not designed for them in order to have a pop at others.

“Mumsnet was conceived in early 2000 when Justine Roberts embarked on a disastrous family holiday. Her idea was to create a website where parents could swap advice about not just holidays but all the other stuff parents talk about.
Twenty years later and who'd have thought it would come to this? Mumsnet is now the UK’s biggest network for parents, with around 9 million unique visitors per month clocking up around 100 million page views.”

That’s Mumsnet’s About Us page. So yes it’s evolved but it’s there in black and white.

But have you got any links of parents having a pop at the childfree?
