AIBU for being so proud of dd achieving this at 17?

Dd has one of her artworks on exhibit at the Royal Scottish Academy’s Annual Open Exhibition. I don’t think I’m BU to be so proud of her, although IRL she doesn’t think it’s worth mentioning to friends! She’s the youngest in the show.

Wow! It is a free exhibition and her piece is in the Lower Galleries. There is loads of amazing art there.

Unbelievable talent! WOW! I work with art everyday. Please ask her for me to sign her work clearly, in 100 years there will be someone like me desperately trying to decipher a signature 😂

Has she looked into the Royal Drawing School? Their The Drawing Year course is post-grad, so not relevant yet, but free.

Btw being commercially successful as an artist takes quite a bit of networking - and usually family money/network early in the career. But she might already know and have experienced that! Big canvases sell better.

She’s an exceptionally talented young lady. Any mother would be proud of those paintings, even without a public exhibition or a prize, but it’s lovely to see her being recognised by others.

To be honest I’m proud of her and she’s not even my daughter! What an exceptional talent I bet you’re bursting with pride. I love dad and dad loves me brought a tear to my eye.

Her artwork is extraordinary, never mind her age. You have every right to be proud of both her talent and her obvious dedication and hard work. I agree with @Birdseyetrifle - they feel like so much more than portraits, they're truly exceptional.

Amazing, OP! Enjoy all the congratulations you & your DD are receiving on here.
Can I just say, you must also be immensley proud of how modest she is too - it's a wonderful and rare trait to be as off-the-scale talented as your DD obviously is, and not be full of yourself. So, super talented and a credit it to you in other ways, too, by the sounds of it.

Before I clicked the link I thought oh how sweet a lovely proud parent. Then I clicked and I am so blown away with how beautiful these pictures are. She’s so talented and must have worked so hard to achieve this.
