My son just called me mummy

He’s 5. He’s non verbal with Autism and has not shown any real inclination to talk.

This last 2/3 weeks he’s started ‘demanding’ food which is brilliant, but tiday he saw me and shouted ‘mummy!’.

I can’t believe it. I could cry ❤️

Just popping on to say Littlegoat is doing amazingly with toilet training. All wees now in the loo at home - not a single accident today and he’s going much longer between emptying his bladder.

I’m so proud of him. He’s been naked since 9.00am so I’m a bit penis-ed out but anything to get him out of nappies.

Poo will be trickier but one step at a time!

Oh this is great progress Op, I’m so pleased for you . It sounds like his communication is improving across the board, not just his speech. And the toilet training is a big step forward, has he chosen some big boy pants? You can get ones with cartoon characters on them ( sounds like he loves cartoons).

It really has. His school have also really improved the syllabus this year and that’s helped too.

He has little trunks with lots of different characters which he loves.

He’s found a song that teaches the months of the year so that’s my day 🤣

He’s absolutely magical ❤️

And in my good books for saying ‘go to bed - sweep!’ at 8.30 so I’ve had a nice evening with DH watching Bake Off.

Thank you all for your kindness and support as I watch my little goat grow.

I hope it’s not too indulgent - I’m so proud of him and this record really brings me comfort and I often read it when things are not going so well to help me remember how far he’s come.
