My friend is cleaning my house! Should I be grateful or offended?

I had a party. All good. Now my friend who is staying over is cleaning my house. Top to bottom. Dusting, polishing, mopping. I've told her to stop but she won't!

Does that mean she thinks my house is really dirty or is she just being polite? She's raked up dust balls I didn't know existed.

Should I stop her or just relax?

What is the protocol?

I wouldn't be upset at someone cleaning up after a party, but is she cleaning more than the party dirt OP? Cus if she is, I'd suggest it means she things your house is messy/dirty and, well intentioned, is trying to help.

RP23 · 09/09/2017 19:56

Definitely let her crack on, she is probably just trying to be helpful! Maybe make her a cuppa too!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 09/09/2017 19:54

If you're single then definitely ask her to marry you! Straight, bi, gay...I could cope if they'd do the housework willingly 😂

I'd be having a party once a month & I hate hosting parties 🤣

I'd be like you though, guilty & thrilled 😊

Any of you claiming to be 'that friend' - I make a mean latte and buy cake...

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 09/09/2017 19:49

Blush I went to ask her if she wants a cuppa and she said no, just something to eat. Does that mean I didn't feed her enough?!!

Anyway we've ordered takeaway.

But then she whizzed off to say she's going to clean the bathroom before it arrives!

I'm veering towards the side of asking her to marry me. But still feeling quite guilty!

My address when she finishes is...

WorriedandExhausted · 09/09/2017 19:48

Just relax, as a friend she is probably trying to be helpful.

Either help her a biy, or tea and biscuits. Both are fine

guilty100 · 09/09/2017 19:46

Just enjoy it! I'm sure your friend is trying to do something absolutely lovely for you (and it's hard work too!).

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 09/09/2017 19:43

I'm that friend too, especially after a party. Make her some Coffee and cake then enjoy it!

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 09/09/2017 19:37

Longdistance · 09/09/2017 19:36

When she's finished send her round here? I'll pop the key under the doormat and she can let herself in, and I'll pay with 🍷 In copious amounts Grin

mummmy2017 · 09/09/2017 19:35

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 09/09/2017 19:34

Can I have a party so I can invite your friend and end up with a clean house? I'm sure I have dust from last year still laying about Grin

CleopatraCatLover · 09/09/2017 19:33

I would love that, can I borrow her Smile

TheBigPickle · 09/09/2017 19:31

Tell her she missed a bit...

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 09/09/2017 19:23

What's her number? I want to invite her to my next party.

SleepyHeadThisTime · 09/09/2017 19:23

Let her get on with it and bake her a cake as a thank you can I borrow your friend??

MargaretTwatyer · 09/09/2017 19:22

No, it means she appreciates you've had a party and is helping you clean up after. Good friend.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 09/09/2017 19:21

Wow I would be eternally grateful. Make her a cuppa and some cakex

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 09/09/2017 19:20

Why do you need to ask if you should be offended or pleased? Which actually are you?

I'm not sure. Which is why I asked you lot! My bro and pa came and played games. My mum, sis and (female) friend helped in kitchen.

I feel guilty. But happy that it's gonna be shining!

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 09/09/2017 19:18

You need to tell her that your dear friend shouldwe has greater need than you and she needs to come over immediately.

Coulddowithanap · 09/09/2017 19:18

I also prefer to clean other people's houses.. wish someone would come and do mine lol

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 09/09/2017 19:17

So I shouldn't feel guilty? My usual post party MO is to let it fester till tomorrow ....

I will offer her a cuppa... good plan
