Do you hate running and want to be mercilessly bullied into it? Cod's couch to 5k

If so I am your woman!
You might remember me from other successes as ' Potty training boot camp with Cod' and ' the Horned Hoofers". But now, in a Moment of Madness, I decided to do 5k, my reasoning being that all sorts if idiots can run, so so can I.
I finished it a week ahead ( GET ME) and now after not wanting to run, ever, and being unable to do 5 minutes, I can run for 35 without stopping

What is in it for you?
You will do couch to 5k in the 9 weeks and no slacking
I will bully you

Result
You will end up loving running as much as I do now. Its free, its quickly over (!) and its transportable.
If I can, you can.

What do you need?
Trainers
A sports bra
Music if that is your thing
The Couch to 5k app
Its even better if you have a smart watch ( can plot the incredible change to for eg your heart)

What I can't allow for
Lazy fuckers who don't STICK TO THE PROGRAMME
anyone with health issues - soz, am not a doctor, not interested in your wonky knee..

We start NOW

Since when did Cod learn to type? Ok, I’m in. Starting tomorrow.

I hate running with a passion. The only thing that works is the zombie app & going out at dusk when it’s terrifying.

I'm in-ish 🫪

@ramonaquimby how can I make sure I don't fuck my knees?

I need your help @iCod. Steve Cram has got me to week 7 run 2. But I’ve been on wk 7 for 3 weeks as I’ve dropped to once a week since the mornings got dark.

No street lights here and I’m likely to trip over a pheasant or something.

Also there are bloody hills everywhere and I really, really, really don’t like them. They hurt. Help!

unhappybutunsureofwork · 24/10/2026 06:09

aghhhhh - I might regret this but I need the motivation so count me in - starting Sunday.

Selttan · 24/10/2026 06:27

I’m at week 6 and it’s the longest I’ve ever stuck to it - I feel like it’s because I’ve done all the sessions and not tried to skip ahead cause I thought I was fitter than I am 😆

hedgehogcrumble · 24/10/2026 06:35

placemarking whilst I make tea and consider doing this.

I never EVER run. I hate it with a passion.

but I always wanted runners legs and DP is a runner

Legsess · 24/10/2026 06:56

Im in!

LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout · 24/10/2026 07:00

I’m in - starting Monday as I have a lot on this weekend. I don’t like the cold and have previously started but then given up Nov-Feb so would like to be encouraged to keep going through the winter this year 🥶
Also need new shoes as DD seems to have nicked mine.

MinnieMountain · 24/10/2026 07:26

Go on then. I've been thinking of doing it because the lido is now shut for the season.

I'll start on Tuesday as I'm away for the weekend.

LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout · 24/10/2026 07:27

Ok bought shoes so now have to use them I guess 😬

Take your trainers with you. It's only half an hour I'm sure you can manage.

re colder weather I bought a top from decathlon for like a few quid. Sized up obviously, and it's very long which is good. When I retrospectively googled it, I found out it's a football top (!) but the high neck is fabulous. Obviously, once you get running, you don't need more than one layer at the moment
I store my phone in my sports bra.

Thank you for starting the encouragement already 😁 We've been away since Thursday evening. We are hiking though (weather permitting).

Proper running shoes, and google some strengthening exercises that are good for knees. Also don’t increase your distances too fast, c2 5k is great for gradual progression so that is good.

@PaperFlyingFucks yeah, I never hurt my knees once. On about week three I decided I was a world-class expert and I didn't need to warm up and I pulled my hamstring a little bit but only for a few few days.

PaperFlyingFucks · 24/10/2026 09:10

Ok, count me in. I got to week 3 in the summer before I went on holiday. I was full of great intentions and took my gear but you can guess that it didn't happen. 🫪

My consistency is shite but I'll and do Saturday, Monday & Thursday runs. Hopefully that will work with my manic schedule.

I'll post back today 🏃🏼‍♀️ I'll be relying on you @iCod 🤣

iCod · 24/10/2026 09:21

Why did you just stop though?

OP posts:
iCod · 24/10/2026 09:21

I've just been out in the rain like a lunatic

OP posts:
Menopants · 24/10/2026 09:50

I went out before the rain , getting back into it after being under the weather in September. My garmon begrudgingly admitted I am ‘maintaining’ after weeks of sub par running. Passive aggressive wee shite

iCod · 24/10/2026 09:55

Bloody hell meno

I think this is just what I need after starting a new job and spending too much time sat at my computer before relocating to the sofa because the job is taking all my mental energy. OK, sign me up. I can go out at lunchtime during the week to get some vitamin D <glares at rain>

IzzyLeng · 24/10/2026 10:10

Right I’m going out for a fry up and will go straight to the gym from the cafe 😆.
