…followed by an email “have a great half term…here’s some homework plus a half term project”…and no doubt another virus.

I am really bored of this thread now, but I am not a liar. To clarify, I gave a rough salary figure. You are correct on the figure for UPS 1 now, another payrise effective as of September, and teachers have had a few since I resigned. When I had our first child back in 2018, UPS 1 was actually under £40K, £36,600 odd. It’s only more recently he’s been paid nearer to £50K. We haven’t changed our spending habits, so he now saves a lot more for our children’s future, as I also mentioned.

I agree that homework tasks should be things a child can complete themselves, as it’s about their learning, not an adult’s. I don’t personally remember having any until secondary school, except spellings and times tables. It has increased for younger children.

Rough? You were 20% under.

Actually, I would fully support GPs attending their own children’s school events, and would not mind taking mine to see a different GP.

Now I know you’re taking the piss 🤣🤣 your comments have to be a wind up!
my mum waited 12 weeks to see a GP… imagine if he cancelled a couple of days before because his kids school sent out an email at the least minute inviting him to a teddy bears picnic!
No one chooses to work above their child, but I’m not sure you’re aware, houses, bills, food etc don’t pay for themself!… not everyone can afford for only one parent to work, and lots of jobs don’t let staff book last minute time off.
Have to say when my parents were at school they never ever had anything where their parents were invited into school (and that was when most women were SAHM’s)
When I was at school we had parents evening once a year after school & maybe a school play at Christmas… that was it!
Nowadays schools do so much, and it is a lot.. I was a SAHM and attended it all, but most of my friends couldn’t and it’s sad for the kids.

What a miserable load of whingers you lot are…. Speaking as a mum of 6 - and a primary school teacher.
They are YOUR children - no one forced you to have them. Can’t you pretend to be interested?
And if you genuinely can’t attend, we understand and make arrangements for your child accordingly.
What would you actually want to happen?
No events? Evening events?(no thanks) weekend stuff? (absofuckingloutely not!)
Jeez damned if we do and damned if we don’t.

Think the point of the thread is about notice… my DD’s primary schools often sent out emails on a Friday afternoon saying ‘we are hosting XYZ on Wednesday next week’ … it’s far too short notice for most working parents, Given requests for time off won’t be seen until the Monday, then it’s only granted if no one else if off !
