If your child is at the age where “animal obsession” is basically a personality type, LEGO has clocked it. The She Built That: Animals campaign is all about the bond kids build with their animal besties, real or toy and using that as a jumping-off point for more confident, creative building.
There are two parts to it.
First: the sets. The campaign pulls together a big mix of animal-themed LEGO across different themes and ages, including plenty suitable for 6+ and up. Think cute pets, wild animals and character sets, plus some of the newer releases like Cute Animals: Playful Puppy Dog and The Aristocats Adorable Marie. If your kid likes following instructions to the letter, they can do that. If they immediately go rogue and turn the puppy into a unicorn-sea-creature, that’s also very much the point.
Second: the in-store stuff. LEGO stores are running She Built That: Animals activities to get kids building in real life, not just on the living room floor. Depending on what’s on near you, there are in-store play experiences and building events, with limited quantities available.
The extras are what will sell it to most children, let’s be honest:
A free LEGO Puppy to make and take home (events take place on 21 and 22 February, see lego.com/stores for timings).
She Built That LEGO passport stamp.
Build and display your animal bestie and collect a sticker sheet.
Animal Headband giveaway (14 to 22 February).
Creativity Workshops, a hands-on building experience for young creators aged 6–12, available online at LEGO.com and in select LEGO Stores. Find out more at LEGO.com/CreativityWorkshops.
It’s a nice one for half-term or a weekend mooch: you get an activity, they get something to clutch proudly all the way home.
