Can you post link when you have it? I've no idea how to find talk radio but would like a listen

Iamhangingin Fri 03-Jul-20 13:21:32

Just googled it - very good to hear it being discussed!

BaronessSnippyPantsofCroneArmy Fri 03-Jul-20 13:21:46

Ian Collins (presenter) saying he has struggled to get anyone on the show to give the anti-JKR view...

I've never listened to talk radio before - does it have a particular slant?

At the moment I'm enjoying listening to a sensible grown up conversation.

Thought that was a good piece! I've tweeted them to say thanks

think its worth letting these broadcasters know this content is really valued.

Iamhangingin Fri 03-Jul-20 13:39:55

LGB Alliance on as a speaker - sounding very rational!

Campervan69 Fri 03-Jul-20 13:40:54

I think there is more to come. But very well covered so far. Great to hear adults talking about it in a rational way.

FreezerBird Fri 03-Jul-20 13:41:55

I think there's a phone-in element as well - he said the lines were open and he could see comments coming in. The presenter then remarked that he was on the receiving end of the hate from commenters.

I hope he shines some sunlight on them.

BaronessSnippyPantsofCroneArmy Fri 03-Jul-20 13:44:22

Ian Collins now saying JK's position is in no way controversial! Finally...
Taking calls in the next segment.

BaronessSnippyPantsofCroneArmy Fri 03-Jul-20 13:52:26

This is so good from Marion, please make sure you listen to this on catch up later, brilliant stuff.

Fantastic to hear this. Go Marion!

Campervan69 Fri 03-Jul-20 14:01:21

Two great female callers - finally women are being allowed on air to speak about this issue that negatively affects them most of all.

Great coverage so far.

Helen, a transsexual, contributing now and agreeing with JKR.
Ian saying they are still struggling to find someone to give the opposing argument...

I really appreciated Helen's contribution. Very straight talking and informative as a transwomen who has obtained at GRA.

2Rebecca Fri 03-Jul-20 14:27:35

I like Talk Radio. Listen to JHB often on a morning. It makes you realise how much the BBC have swallowed the coolaid and can't discuss this properly

FreezerBird Fri 03-Jul-20 14:34:09

Helen was a hoot. I liked her a lot.

BaronessBrighterThanYou Fri 03-Jul-20 14:34:22

I'm liking it.

Iamhangingin Fri 03-Jul-20 14:44:52

I think Helen will represent many trans women. She has gone what was in her words a long and difficult journey to obtain her GRA. She has had a medical diagnosis and gone through all the steps, which at the end of the day are there as a safeguarding mechanism to make sure this was the right path for her to take. Self id makes a mockery of her journey and doesn't protect vulnerable people who may not really be trans, they may have another issue.

I don't think I would be so concerned but our mental health provision in the UK is shocking. People need support and wanting to change gender could possibly by a symptom of something else, but with out a thorough medical diagnosis no one will know.
